The Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe is re-entering the race for his signature and has dropped off signing AJ so not to assist Souths in clearing more cap space to sign Mitchell.

That is interesting news I must say.

Sure is nug, I mean woke.

I don’t know what that is supposed to mean sir, but what ever nug is, I am not. I hope you’re having a nice Wednesday sir.

I think we’re all fading away from the fact that a young player is legitimately considering a 600k a year pay cut to pick another team over us

Doesn’t really give the Wests Tigers the best outlook does it.....

It is a one year deal - it will be adjusted next year. It is a deliberate rorting of the cap to get a quality player in their squad for this year when they have no cap space to sign him.

Still one hell of a risk

- Who says Latrell doesn’t drop form especially with what it seems the weight he has put on in the off season

- Who says Latrell doesn’t suffer an injury which effects his ability for the years to come or end his career ultimately (touch wood)

- Who says the players the Rabbitohs are expecting to offload come the end of next year don’t have stand out seasons in the final year of there contract

There are a lot of risks with Latrell taking a 1 year 400k deal at the Rabbitohs

Whereas, he has the ability to secure a 4 year 4 million contract with us - it’s obvious he is prioritising money in his new deal otherwise he would’ve re-signed with the Roosters asap when they handed him that 850k offer and along with the fact he is a young man whom is on the rise of starting a family

If the recent reports are true of him going to the Souths on 400k over a 1mil offer with us, it doesn’t give the slightest bit of a good representation towards the Wests Tigers at all

If Latrell takes the risk he wears it . My concern is if the NRL allows a lowball contract to be registered so South's can fit a marquee player into their cap.

Even after all This I still hope he comes here

Same 😂
Everything aside it would be a very exciting start to the season

Just considering the Gardham Valuation.
When asked about Mitchell going to Souths , Bennett said he was quite happy with his 2 centres, knowing full well Mitchell wants to play full back. The old man was simply trying to devalue Mitchell’s buy price. Not knowing his team was ahead on the scoreboard can be excused. But not knowing Mitchell is looking for a no.1 jumper is a stretch.

BREAKING NEWS

The Latrell Mitchell drama is set to be finished in the upcoming week, the reports coming out Latrell will be at the Rabbitohs 100% by Monday are all false.

I cannot stress this enough!

Latrell has not signed with anyone at this point!

He has switched managers, his old manager being a core reason the Wests Tigers pulled their offer to begin with which is worrying for Latrell.

Latrell’s new manager Matt Rose, will meet with both Rabbitohs and the Wests Tigers all within this week in order to start fresh contract negotiations.

As I’ve reported in the past, Rabbitohs can not put forward a legitimate deal towards Latrell unless they offload Johnston and Gagai (new post upcoming about Johnston later today) this seems very unlikely to occur at this moment of time.

400k is the reported figure they can offer, while the Wests Tigers offer is around the 1mil mark.... even if Latrell does choose the Rabbitohs another hurdle or potential setback will be on whether the NRL register his contract as they may deem the offer to be significantly under the market value.

I’m being told the Wests Tigers are about to step up their pursuit on Latrell and go in hard!

Latrell does have an interest in joining the Tigers that’s for sure, hence why I reported that it was a 99% chance of happening as I didn’t think Latrell would have even considered a deal of 400k with South Sydney - whether or not he will accept this deal no one knows!

I’m not too sure on Latrell’s interest levels on joining Souths are, I’m assuming quite high as it seems he is seriously considering this reduced 1 year deal.

Personally, I think he will be at the Wests Tigers due to the money being too good to refuse.

With fresh contract negotiations starting over with a new manager, this could be a blessing in disguise for the Wests Tigers as Latrell at one point had verbally agreed to a deal roughly a month ago but was blocked off by his former manager Wayde Rushton.

Regardless of the media dictating where Latrell will be the reality is Latrell himself doesn’t even know!

Option a) 400k 1 year deal with South Sydney
Option b) 3.8 mil 4 year deal with Wests Tigers

Over the next week, Latrell will ultimately decide his destination and it’s fair to say the Rugby League world is awaiting!

Might be an unpopular view, however, a market only exists when there is a buyer and a seller. If LM is only willing to sell his services to one club then you can argue that whatever he gets from that club is his market value.

The thing that is painful is that I have no confidence in the NRL to ensure he doesn't receive money outside the cap. Therefore, despite my first paragraph I hope they make Souffs pay at least 600k from their cap.

Having to match an offer dollar for dollar is a bad idea and the NRL shouldn't force clubs to pay equal amounts.

For example if a club wanted Brooks and offered 800 but he was happy to stay with us for 700 why should we stump up the additional? What if they went up to a mil but he still didn't want to move? You can't use these offers to create a pseudo draft where players and clubs are forced into certain terms.

Finally if LM takes 400k or more less to play for souffs then it really is his loss.

I see your point but

If Latrell was staying with the Roosters for $800,000 a season and did not put himself on the open market then he should not have to field offers from elsewhere

As soon as he put himself on the open market then he automatically has a new market Value "IMO" set by other clubs trying to land his signature

So in Brooks case as you mentioned
If he resigns with us without going on the open market then he accepts our value that we place on him

If he wishes to field offers from other clubs then he has a new market value and better be prepared to leave regardless of which club makes that offer

If he turns around and wishes to stay then our club should be made to pay at least 90% of his top offer from our cap if we wish to keep him

Now if Brooks doesn't want to go to that other club then he should not have put himself on the open market

Now if another club wants to make a ridicules offer to a player then they better be prepared to pay the amount they offer or they should be fined for trying to inflate the market for their own benefit

This is where the NRL needs to police these offers to make sure other clubs Don't just try to drive up a players price

So as far as Latrell goes
He has an offer from us at $950,000 per season
He can stay at the Roosters for $855,000 which is 90% of our offer
Our go to south's for $400,000 if he wishes but the the Rabbits should be made to have $950,000 come off there cap
IMO that would be the fairest way to manage player transfers and salary caps
It would also create a much fairer playing field
As far as 3rd party payments go clubs are not allowed to get involved so it should have no bearing on which club a player chooses

This is my take on it all but the NRL has no balls to implement anything like it

Fair enough, I see your point in the Brooks analogy and agree. I want to agree with you about what the NRL should do, but since I have no faith in their policing of the cap as it stands, let alone their ability to change it, I just hope they don't allow a farcical 1 yr contact to be signed and won't ask for more.

Regarding this whole Latrell saga, it does seem like this persons posts seem to be the ones who make the most sense

Idk how to take this, but I find this page to be decent as they’ve had good mail in the past

Hopefully it’s true fingers crossed I guess
