Latrell Mitchell Contract Discussion

If we get LM, then we would probably also get JAC. Our forwards will do alright this year (fingers crossed on hooker), then we can buy a top notch prop next year. In fact, we get LM, then right now we buy a gun forward for 2021.

900k is for players who can turn a game regularly, this bloke doesnt even turn up to captains runs consistantly. Gun players dont come here because they dont think they are the final cog in the machine to make us contenders. Mitchell isnt the final cog to make us a success.

Respect your opinion, what do you think is the final cog? I think it's a 9 a 1 and an outside back

sounds silly but a real damaging second rower is a piece we need more than a back. Matterson hurt us. Frizell, Cordner, Taumalolo et. al. add both extra starch to the pack, yet also unlock the backs when running numbers. I think Brooks can read the numbers, just we lack the venom to sell the cut outs so we dont profit from indecisiveness. Matterson out wide was more dangerous than when he was in the middle.

Mitchell benefitted from having Keary inside him and then Cordner. Defensive lines dont slide hard when Cordner is an option, though any defender in the league would hedge their bets on stopping Lawrence one on
one for example. Mitchell would become our new Teddy pass when nothing is going on. If Mitchell was a fullback with all his skills, of which he has a fair toolkit, he wouldnt have lost the job long before Tedesco rocked up.

I think you’ll find Big Luci will fill that role nicely, big body with some ball playing ability!!

Im a fan of his.... but what are we going to do for the other 72 mins of the game

Come on buddy he is a young forward that is developing and hadn’t been given a chance as a starting player, he will blossom this year I think.

Garner on the left for 80. Leilua on the right for as long as he lasts. Aloiai can spend some time running wide in attack too. We can make our 2nd rowers threatening enough, especially if someone like Mitchell is sweeping behind them - should be enough to create indecision in the defence.

Latrell plays for us last year we make the 8. No question

limping into the 8 isnt enough.

Latrell plays well, what, 3 games a year in clubland... need to be lucky he plays well in the games we need him to. More chance of him looking good in a blow out, than turning a skinny loss.

Missing the 8 isnt enough either.
If he was here last year we make the 8 and look a lot more enticing destination to other players for this year. I also disagree that he plays well in only 3 games a year.

watch this.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3pbdJMht3rs
take out Tigers, we made him look good, then take out the bottom teams... then when you watch the rest he is unlocked by Tedesco or defenders making bad decision on his inside men the vast majority of the time. who unlocks him with the big decoy run... who is our Keary popping him short...

watch closely. You will realise we dont have the players to unleash him. We will feed him into road blocks. Did it to Tedesco as well.

To start with, but he would attract talent to the club. He would be a great way to start turning the team into something.

Or he may succumb to Plodderism ...

Genuinely dont understand people deathriding Latrell. Last year was probably his worst year in first grade and that is still a pretty hand highlights package....AND HE IS ONLY 22YO!!!

You ask who will be our Keary and "unlock" him? Well if he is fullback and isnt reliant on 5/8 to get him away from his defender, the opportunities are endless.....particularly for someone who is about 6'2" > 100kg and the second fastest in the league.

Luciano is a freak, i really like him, truthfully, but expecting more than half a game from his is insanity. He has been a fringe first grader for years now, every coach he has ever had has tried to get him fit and failed. Even an amazing pre season would only allow him to play that half a game he has in him with less time trying to catch his breath, hands on hips sucking in the big ones. Im not even talking trash here, 10 mins on the park has him looking like he has emphasemia, cold hard truth.

I agree re Tedesco in 2017, but in earlier seasons he was lethal running off Brooks. I also have 0 concern about Benji's ability to put someone into a hole. If teams have to start to mark up on our fullback imagine how dangerous guys like Garner and Little Lucy could be. Garner had some great moments against quality teams at the end of the year.
Even Momo poked his nose through several times last year when many more highly rated centres wouldn't. I think a Fullback who can pass and run on either edge and a speedy winger are more important to us than anything, followed closely by a fit hooker.

I don't think it has to be Latrell, but it has to be someone who can pass, if Corey is still number 1 I hope he is working on this part of his game. Otherwise I prefer Mbye.

Yeah he hits up well in the middle and has greater involvement at lock/prop, but that doesn't mean we can't run plays from time to time where he drifts wider and presents a threat on the edge.

Good evening gentleman, I don’t mean to butt in however I’d just like to add regarding LL, that when he started games in the second row he averaged 71 minutes 118 metres per game 31 tackles 3 tackle breaks and 1.8 offloads per game. Mr Luciano has a lot of upside. Mr Pascoe did astutely well on that signing

Anyway sorry to interrupt. Have a nice night

Im not even talking trash here, 10 mins on the park has him looking like he has emphasemia, ***cold hard truth***.

Every game he started last year he played 80mins. **Cold.Hard.Truth**

plenty of players can stand out there for 80 and be ineffective... He doesnt have the gas tank. Dont think he ever will... I really hope Im wrong though. If I am be sure to let me know I doubted him, but his game suffers at 80 and like Sue becomes weak around the ruck when he is blowing.

Garner on the left for 80. Leilua on the right for as long as he lasts. Aloiai can spend some time running wide in attack too. We can make our 2nd rowers threatening enough, especially if someone like Mitchell is sweeping behind them - should be enough to create indecision in the defence.

Haha so formal now?

I’m unsure what you mean by this but I’m just being polite. Those statistics are for last year by the way. Mr Luciano has played 80 mins several times in 2018 as well. I’m sure mr madge will have fighting fit and ready to peak for 2020.

Hi mr black and white I thought I’d let you know that in the games mr Luciano played 80 mins he went like this

2018
Rnd 24 v bulldogs 47 made 0 missed
Rnd 22 v eel 49 made 2 missed
Rnd 19 v cowboys 31 made 1 missed
Rnd 17 v storm 33 made 2 missed

2019
Rnd 22 v sharks 26 made 2 missed

I think because mr Luciano is plump it gives the perception his work ethic isn’t good when it Infact is highly effective

This is by far your most annoying persona - and that’s saying something!

But keep going. I’m sure at some stage you’ll explode at the negative press you will invariably receive.
