Madge has not been the coach for 20 years, maybe just maybe it’s the club and the way it was run in the past

You are so right

Madge needs more than 12 to 15 months

If we give him the time he will fix it

Might 3 4 or 5 years but if we can't sign a big name in the next 12 months I still believe Madge will get a lot more out of the young NRL players we have now plus bring along the youngsters we have coming through

Like your opinion and agree with you but I do believe we need that one big name to sign

I certainly would be happy with a big signing to

Won’t see the best of madge until reynolds packer and Mbye are all off the books. Some real hinderance for him there. He has that little faith in reynolds he brought Old man Benji back.

I don't disagree with this comment. Can't forget Madge inherited some overpaid contracts that definitely don't fit in with his plans.

I like the forward pack he’s trying to assemble, still think tigers are one high level prop or back tower away from having a really high level pack.

Outside backs the big issue. Anyone thinking AJ wouldn’t be an upgrade are out of their mind

I agree with this. One quality forward and a couple of outside backs. Hopefully Seyfarth or the kid from Parra develop into a quality forward.

We need AJ but we need more and better than just him.

Didn't IC bring Benji back

Benji was off contract after 2019. No obligation to bring him back.

Cheers I see what you meant now

You can't blame this on Madge. The bunnies are obviously a stronger and more appealing club to him. NRL players want to win premierships and we haven't come close in the last 10 years. Our rep won't change overnight or with 1 respectable coach. Making the 8 this year and every year on is imperative for us to be considered appealing and even then you won't always land who you want.

Correct. Although this won't please some on here, i must admit i'm starting to question Pascoes ability to get things done. ( i.e selling the club and direction it is heading in) Sometimes i feel like he is learning on the run. We need a kill shortly with all this money.

It is a very embarrassing situation we find ourselves in, all this money to spend and unable to sign to players!

We only missed one. Arrow apparently was never a consideration, particularly with the depth we have in the pack. Word from Concord is Seyfarth is going gangbusters and the big unit from Parra is only days away from turning up for us. Add those two to Twal, Aloiai, Leilua, Mikaele, Garner and Musgrove and that's a hell of a group of under 25's.
Just need a hooker!

How often are clubs sitting around with $1m+ spare in their salary cap heading into a season? We in all likelihood go into the season with $1m spare, $375k off cap through salary cap reduction and about another $1m wasted through over paying players. You are setting yourself up for failure with that much wasted money through poor cap management!

I completely agree. We need to focus on improving the squad and not making really poor long term decisions.

Exactly but it's starting to unwind and we appear to have had the most money for Latrell even though he went elsewhere.

I don't think too many players are going to make the same decision as Latrell.

No of course not. But I think in future Pascoe should get in our CFO and external accountants to meet with any potential recruits. They can put together a little powerpoint presentation outlining our financial health and year on year projections. If Latrell was aware of our working capital situation and EBITDA forecast for the FY20 financial year I feel he would have signed.

What about the big new gym ?

That's what I was getting at

I believe Madge will turn quite a few of the player's already in NRL team as well as some youngsters into top quality players

That's covered by our CFO when discussing the balance sheet (line by line) under "Property, Plant and Equipment".

It's not "the club" -, it's the current position of the club and the personel, that is not attractive. If you swapped what is at South's to WTs then we secure Latrell.
Maguire was the coach that got South's their first premiership in 40 years, but before that they had a period of trying to attract quality talent much like we are going through now.If we have the money it will turn around. So please save all the smart a comments about our financial position being insignificant when it is the first vital step in moving forward.

Mitchell didn’t come here cause we’re an perennial basket case and the coach is too much of a hard arse !

I love this basket case arguement ! It’s a load of trash , and such an exaggeration. LM is aboriginals. Soufs have positioned themselves as the indigenous club . They have key figures in that community manipulating and influencing kids to go to soufs. Not to mention , a lot of indigenous kids’ hero , is known for wearing the myrtle and green , and just retired. Of which LM has openly said he was one .
Throw together , the thing that hasn’t even been mentioned yet , his contract for this year was 400k!!!! Not 800k! If he’s getting 600k then he’s getting more money .
Yea the tigers offered more. But it looks less like, 400k more and now more like , 150k more .
If this is the case , then how much would someone have to offer you overs , to play for another club ??? I think 150k seems about right where you would be contemplating.
Also the Madge thing is an issue. Some guys arnt gonna want to play for him . Others will !
And the Robinson thing is offset by an Awesome image of a strong club . So if he’s a hardass, players just accept it as they’re playing at Moore Park .
This is where we really need to get to .

Umm.. is Justin now doing the player talent evaluations himself?

Funny thing is Johnston has been discussed before Latrell came into the picture. Was told he could explore his options & a couple of discussions between the club (mainly Madge) has occurred with him.

given we have to still spend a fair chunk of our cap to be compliant in 2020, has Madge been in discussions with any other players that haven't been mentioned?

It’s all got to come to ahead in the next 2-3 weeks. Plenty of clubs moving behind the scenes & it’s only going to take a couple of quick decisions for this player market to explode. But scoring ability is the target. If Stefano falls through for 2020 (which it’s highly unlikely) an impact forward will be chased but so far Setu is impressing.

Any idea who is most likely to be playing nine for us

And as importantly, any idea who will be playing fullback?

Corey Thompson will seemingly get first crack at the fullback spot given his strong performances in the position last season

Mate I know you're a bit of a star on the forum but was that comment genuine? IMO he is a fair winger and an awful fullback. If I had to rate the fullbacks from all clubs he'd be in my bottom 4. If he plays fullback this year we are no chance of the 8.

That’s a little unkind. I think Corey is a great fullback.

He’s a good winger but he’s an awful fullback.

Wow, your entitled to your opinion, However, labeling Corey as an awful fullback May be up there with one of the most absurd comments I’ve read here in the forum, in MY opinion.

He wouldn’t get a start at fullback at any other nrl club.

That is irrelevant to your initial statement.

Teddy only has 2 more years to run on his contract. Let's throw the bank at him when the window opens in November this year to bring him home. Maybe we can forward load some of this cash.

Sorry, perhaps I should have been kinder and said he's the worst fullback in the NRL.
