No way you'd turn down a contract double the size. We're either the worst destination imaginable, or they're making up the rest of the contract somehow. Thinking it's the latter. The difference was too great for that not to be happening in the background somewhere. Next minute Rusty sets him up with a Ferrari as a welcome gift.

I'm thinking it's the former.

If this is the case why ??? Personally I don't see it. The only reasons I can see is Madge trains them too hard and they aren't a glamour club. Those reasons compared to the money to me don't make any sense.

Is there any other possible explanation. What if he really wanted to play for Souths ? Maybe he isn't as interested in money.

look i'm called too negative on here and that's because I am completely fed up with this club and I am negative.

We are not an attractive club because we never play finals football. Add to that a disciplinarian coach and it's hardly alluring. What would be the attraction for any player to come here? Would you sign here if you were a great player? I wouldn't.

Oh please .... give it a bloody rest.
You sound just like a broken record.

Opinions to NRL players from two unhappy recent ex-Wests tigers together with some South Sydney players who had been coached by Madge may have had a lot to do with West Tigers recent unfair reputation.

Not having a crack at you Newtown but what do all those saying “we can’t attract players because Madge is too tough” suggest?

The day the club replaces a coach because he was “too tough “ on players is the day the club signs up for another decade of poor performance and my last day as a supporter

I am sure that in this thread there was a statement from Wests tigers following their first meeting with Lattrell Mitchell. The statement read that the offer was taken away from Mitchell because he did not want to take part in any extra training sessions (as did Matterson by the way). The statement also said that another reason why the offer to Mitchell was withdarwn was because Mitchell wanted to visit Taree at various times during the season and Wests Tigers also would not comply with this requirement.

No wonder the club did not have any gurther discussions with Mitchell.

I dont recall any statement of that nature by the club so it would be good if you could provide it.

There is a reason Easts didn't see him as a fullback. If Souths don't get him on a diet and training hard he won't have the miles in his legs to play a good 80 minutes there.

Yep agree. Our club culture has been terrible over the past 10 years when it comes to training hard and its been reflected in our results. Screw anyone that doesn't want to play under Madge. He is the one to lead us to greener pastures and we bend over to nobody anymore. I don't care if we take chances on juniors with potential or ESL players with promise. I want WTs to become the team that clubs fear and feel the pain after playing us. I'm over this souths indigenous club rubbish too. There are indigenous players throughout the NRL that couldnt care less about Redfern. It's all rubbish from his family that want free tickets to souths games. Spare me the whole 'it's not about money' as well. He'll collect in the end and we all know it.

Tigers gave it a shake. Made what was clearly the better financial offer (legally) . He chose something else in the end. He was originally happy when it was tigers bulldogs and cowboys and was close to signing then. The SB medical retirement changed things. It happens. Won’t fault recruitment on that one. Others though....

I am sure that statement from the club was in this thread. I will try to find it but this thread has over 500 entries.

He's already signed with Souths and been paraded around it seems.

Whaaaaaaaaat..when did dis happen....

Wow! Just watched the full PC. He looks really unfit but I got the impression still wants fullback. Wayne did look a bit coy when asked about the younger brigade (Doueihi etc) and I think he knows that he might need to release a couple.

Tigers should look to make Doueihi a very attractive offer. Clubs will often let players go on request so as to not stifle their careers - if we play our cards right, we might get someone halfway decent.

I highly doubt that

Signs for $600k - how can that be 'market value' ... and with a coach that has done nothing except go backwards for 10 years?
One year- with the option of one more in Souths favour?
What kind of moron would put that to him... and him be stupid enough to accept?
Maybe they'll suit each other... the Broncos told Wayne he wasn't required and the Roosters did the same with Latrell.
