If Mitchell signs it will certainly be a WTF signing anyway. If there was another one besides, it will pale in significance and probably end up going the way of the Mystery Prop or Curtis Rona 😂

Hi mate. Wrote in my column yesterday that Latrell is touring Cowboys this week - he is in Townsville now but the club says he is yet to meet them. Tomorrow. I think Tigers have a four year offer for Mitchell worth about $4m. I’m surprised Dogs pulled out after all the hype.

This is just ridiculous now, why is he touring the Cowboys facilities? We have given him a great offer, everything he damn well wants. If he was that invested in playing with us, he wouldn’t even be looking at the Cowboys. Not liking where this is going, I reckon JT will make the Cowboys and the North Qld lifestyle look very appealing.

Holmes just bloody well come home and take up the Cowboys offer will you? You’re not gonna make it in the NFL anyway.

I don't have a definitive answer as my source wouldn't elaborate - the fact he didn't say much suggests to me we are in with a good chance. It will really depend on how the Tigers sell their vision to Latrell vs the Cows vision for the future.

He is meeting the the Cows and JT , the JT factor could be very influential in his decision.
Altho they both come from an indigenous back ground which would mean a lot to Mitchel it would also take him a very long way away from his roots at Taree which I believe would be a negative for his family life.

the Tigers play would be to take our country game to Taree and have a week up there leading up to it.

I think we are locked in to Tamworth aren't we? And I doubt Taree has an NRL standard stadium, it's not that big a place.

Brookvale does not have a NRL standard stadium, but there are still a load of game splayed there

In fairness, it's not that long ago that his offer was pulled off the table by the Roosters, so he probably wasn't even thinking about moving to a new club until a few weeks ago.

If he wasn't going to sign on for 2020, he wouldn't be talking to anyone until next year, so we can be sure that he won't be at the Roosters next year.

That puts us in a stronger position because if he waited, there'd be more clubs that could afford him for 2021.

The reality is, that Holmes has already signed a contract with the Cowboys...The contract, I believe is in his favour, as in, I don't think the Cowboys can pull the offer...by that logic, there is only us in the hunt.

I think the news of what he is going to do will come in thick and fast when he gets back to Sydney...I wouldn't be surprised if we had an answer by Friday.

The upside for Latrell at the Tigers is that we have $5 million to spend next year. If we recruit well, we could put together one of the best rosters in the comp. He could be part of that and be the main man.

Whatever happens it's just great to see Roosters fans agitated by another club quite possibly luring away one of their star players that they just assumed would be there till he he was past it. What short selective memories they have.

@TillLindemann well that's a good question, but if u look around the clubs u will see this. the rooters had 3 players on or very close to a million each. and still stated they had cap room,and now we have manly with 3 players on 1 million each or very close, cherry - evans and jake and tom. oh the 3 rooters were teddy, cronk, and boyd. then we will have the cows with 2 million dollar players in JT and either val or LM.

Yes but what if he likes what he sees in Townsville better than what he sees in Concord? Always a chance of that happening - that’s why I’m praying for Holmes to come back.

Have you ever been to Townsville, not much to the place except Magnetic Island, hot sticky weather and lots of army folk. Also he would be away from his wife a kids every second week which is not as big a problem if based in Sydney. Not to mention the distance from Taree.
