Latrell Mitchell Contract Discussion

If we took Gagai so that they could free up $$$ for LM and Semi, then we would be an absolute joke.

That rumor is ridiculous.

Madge is not a fool.

Then what's the rumours about Mitchell to Cowboys all about?

Exactly that - just rumours! Some of the comments on here is akin to watching an episode of The Office.

There is a guy on the rabbits forum says LM is going to them

He doesn't whether it will be 2020 or 2021 but reckons he will definitely be there

I would not worry about those rumors. The same guy and a roosters 'insider' have Souths signing Mitchell AND Semi AND Arrow...and, to make it all possible, we are taking the horrendous contract of Dane Gagai and his three good games a year off them.

This stuff is just ridiculous. If we agreed to Gagai to free up cap space for others to grab all those blokes then Pascoe, Madge and the whole lot should quit.

Won't happen.

In the last 12 months or so they have lost Sutton Burgess and Inglis

The NRL sure to approve Burgess retirement so they will have money

I could see LM playing hardball with roosters until he gets release by just taking up cap space and playing reserves

Didn’t cam Murray just get a huge upgrade .I would think the money for Inglis has been allocated elsewhere already . They’ve had quite some time now . The burgess money has to go to a forward . It would be ludicrous for it not . Their pack is really depleted this year after the burgi .

Read somewhere Latrell has a lot of "family" around him that are leaches and he looks after them financially which from my own experience is not uncommon in the indigenous communities and others as well.

The working man gives back to the others, etc. Not just an indigenous thing...

Anyway, they want Latrell to get as much money as he can to continue the support.... and going to NQ is away to get away from it all and focus as some of the influence isn't s positive.

Valentine to the Roosters.

Lol, yea?

Just something I found interesting...

@Demps When did Bondi Junction move to Townsville?

Stranger things have happened....
Anyway I an not claiming any inside info.

Just a rumour I read online.

@Demps
In the indigenous communities where I have worked, individuals are beholden to certain members of their extended family as well as anyone not directly related who fits that general description. This is determined by kinship rules.
While it may be true that Mitchell wants to get away from family 'Leeches', I think he will find that, as soon as he makes himself a member of the Townsville community, they will find out his (kinship) skin name or will give him one. Instantly, his kinship relationships will be known and will bring in people that, he might not even know, he will be beholden to.
Moving to Townsville won't get him away from the kinship system.
If he avoids his kinship responsibilities, he'll be given some not very complimentary labels and shunned by the community.

I would expect that testing the market means exactly that. A player manager for LM won't commit while more than one club is showing interest and that may change from week to week. I guess it depends on how patient or what priority a club places on getting him, that will determine to what length they are prepared to wait.

@balmain-boy looking at our signings so far this year, this is almost what we are doing right? Planning for the future?? Madge is slowly clearing out the dead wood and players who don't want to be at the club a la Matulino and Matterson. I think we are on the right path and we have the right people in place now. Have a little faith

Correction:

Matulino wanted to be at the club and gave it 100% when he was on the field.

He was medically retired because he couldn't play anymore.

Agree, but pre-season has started and the club has a bucket load of cash, I hope we get LM (I actually think he has signed, because there is no more LM news in the press) but if not, we may miss the boat on another big signing.

But I think the club has been patient and if this has not happened, then the club needs to put a deadline on it.

I have no doubt they have a process in place.

I don't understand the stress on this. If he takes too long to make up his mind and the negotiations appear to be going nowhere then just state well thanks for your time and move on. If you want to come back and discuss a change with us at any time let us know.

We just can't purchase players on that money who don't have a big upside.

The problem isn't not buying players it's buying the wrong ones and stuffing us up for years.

If the clown doesn’t put pen to paper this week then lock the door, we are not the door mat we were when Ivan was splashing the cash on trash.
He would be a great signing for us but not at the expense of our integrity. The Cowboys used him as a pawn to get Holmes moving and Latrell has copped a sucker punch over his perceived popularity.
We made him a great offer, he’s on the nose at the Roosters so he value is diminishing by the minute yet he parades himself around ...ala Matterson style.
My thoughts are that he’s not keen on coming to the Tigers but he will sign with us as the money is overwhelming and we’ve publicly shown how desperate we are to roll out the red carpet for him.
No doubt the Bulldogs are trying to back door us again and their secret service agents have been dispatched into the field.
I can’t see Maguire putting up with the shenanigans much longer.

@TonyTiger
The 'Clown' is on holidays.
The 'Clown's' manager has stated he will sit down with WT management to discuss their offer.
If the 'Clown' is copping a sucker punch, it is because of the NRL media circus that surrounds him.
If the 'Clown' has been parading himself, it has been with his family fighting fires.
Your comparison of that, to the behaviour of Matterson, tells me all I need to know about your judgement.
Thanks for your valued opinion.

Story in today’s herald, said the Burgess contract ruling will be at least another week. Is this what is holding up Mitchell’s signing with us, if so, we move on
