Totally against the draft myself - think it stinks.

I respect your view Rus, but for what reason?

In the last couple of days we've seen and only just scratched the surface of player management indiscretion if not corruption.

I for one would like the balance of power shift back to clubs. After all they pay the players wages.

Sorry mate , but you seem to poo poo everything! What would be your ideal situation ? Not having a go , I’m just curious ?

If an NRL draft could be done properly, it would be amazing.
Perhaps a discussion for a dedicated thread.
But it Could make the NRL even more interesting.

Trade windows drafts

Agreed... Also they need to incorporate a regulated free agency period for the off season.

Transparency is needed in relation to contract details and salary breakdown. I know they shot this down during collective bargaining agreement negotiations but hopefully they come to their senses. Current system is amateurish at best and leads to too much in-contract back room dealings plus unknown TPA figures.

Basically an online portal which lists the current offers for each player. Would also shut down all this useless speculation on who is signing who.

The NFL system would be a great example to follow.

Here here! Something has to be done to change the balance of power to one of transparency, fairness and honesty. And should I mention, one of professionalism.

Agree with this too. There is a reason for why the NFL draft has been in existence for so long - it works and it improves the game. As I mentioned before, the college football competition, that feeds into the draft, is a lucrative and keenly followed system in the US ,and we don't have those types of development or monetary structures, but you have to start somewhere. Although in its infant stages, the draft seems to be working in the AFL. I'd welcome a new topic that focused on the notion. And while we're about it, why not open it up and call it, 'Ways the NRL Could Be Improved'. Surely it would elicit lots of rigorous chat!

I don't have a solution @Strongee & @Leck - I just know if I were a player and I didn't like the club I was at for various reasons and I want to leave, I would be pretty racked off if my name came out of the hat to go to e.g. Cowboys, Storm or say Gold Coast. In this scenario I have had to be drafted before because the Raiders didn't want me and I ended up in Sydney. This time it could be one of the above three.

e.g. This is my last contract, I am 29 have a wife and three kids aged 9, 8 and 6 who I now have to drag to their third school, leave their friends behind etc. etc.

I get no choice other than becoming a brickies laborer so I can keep my family in the same place.

Surely there must be a better system than this. Maybe the NRL could do it's job and stop the rorting and actually be fair to 16 clubs, so players and their families wouldn't have to go through something like this. If you a are single with no attachments it probably wouldn't matter but....

You're a professional athlete, you know the rules going in, I think the idea has plenty of merit in using the trade route is fair. Though I thought you were allowed to have some option of veto?

The ADF live by it.

LM interviewed by Lawry's sister....got to say he 'is' starting to look rather large. Maybe he loses weight easily, but he has a fair gut on him and lots of puppy fat.

That’s professional sport mate . It’s not like 20 -30 years ago where it was all hush hush. It’s all laid to bare , at Harold Matt’s level and up.
It’s a tough short road. Especially contact sport .
In the US only partial of thier contracts are guaranteed. You sign for 5 years , sometimes your on your butt after 3 .
I understand your sentiment , but that’s the cross they bare. Strive for greatness , and reap the financial benefits or , fall on your butt and accept mediocrity.
The system still needs to change. If the integrity of the sport is lost , then the money won’t be there , and all the sentiment is for nought anyway.
Bagging things without , offering a solution is strange to me. Your litterally biting the hand that feeds you . But each to their own I guess

I'll give Latrell credit - I've never seen so many people with supposed inside information being proven totally incorrect and contradictory with one another.

I reckon at least 10x "Latrell has agreed with Tigers, confirmation imminent" and now about half a dozen "Trel will be a Rabbit".

He should change jobs to work for ASIO, subterfuge and misinformation.

All this, and people are STILL asking follow up questions when someone pops up and makes a claim about knowing what’s going on. Never learn.

Rudolf the red nosed reindeer had a very shiny nose ............. bringing gifts for all the kiddies.
Pinocchio had a wooden nose that grew whenever he prevaricated.
I wonder which one will show up at the Wests Tigers recruitment christmas party?

It’s a stupid idea @chaos , hence nobody in HQ (my job) is remotely keen on the idea... next time you get called out on a public forum I’d be copping it sweet. Hahaha, also don’t know why you’d report my other account but don’t believe I was breaking anything other than your post down.

Just because you have an opinion doesn’t mean your opinion is right.
It’s nothing more then an opinion.
I said ‘If done properly’ it could be good.
There would absolutely be positives, Also negatives.
Called out? Lmao.
How did I get called out?
Ppl were mentioning a draft, I simply made an innocent comment on it, why you taking it so serious?
And what Do you mean ‘Report your OTHER account’?
