Bennett is looking more like a knob every year if this turns out how we all expect it to. Sure we got the happy with his centres line but he also said we "won't be signing Latrell." - more than likely after it was already done. I get the disdain for the media but out and out lying makes him a mockery.

He plays the game, quite successfully. Makes our guys look like amateurs.

The new Chairman should have taken a leaf out of his book.

Didn't our Chairman indicate that we would sign Mitchell in one of his articles ? If so agree not a good look.

Depends how you interpret it. But he came out in one article saying how he and uncle Nick were in cahoots to get him here.

IMO Lee discussing a supposedly private call from Politis was bad form, but unlike many here I think that our Chairman has done a great job, even in the discussion with trying to sign Latrell. I want a Chairman willing to do what is necessary to make things happen.

This club has struggled to sign players for the whole of its life. Things need to change. Lee was clearly making sure that Latrell knew that we value him and want him. It may have been part of what got him to come here. It appears from the outside in that it hasnt worked and LM doesnt wan to come here but I am happy that from the top down we had a crack.

I have seen many here express "embarassment" at our chairman doing this but I spend too much time on RL forums and the only people Ive seen make a point about this has been our own fans and in these fans are either insecure or have an agenda.

Don't see Bennett as clever - not fooling any one - and the lines between what is fact and fiction are so blurred, soon no one will listen to him. Once that happens he becomes irrelevant.

He might be becoming irrelevant, but he still somehow always gets exactly what he wants.

More than most - but his results don't present that way. Results on the field tell more about Wayne than anything he has to say of late, because most of the time what comes out of his mouth is contrived and predictable.

Would be quite interesting if he went to Souths.

We went for Bennett, went to Souths. We went for Arrow, went to Souths. Went for LM, went to Souths. I wonder who we’ll be going after next that will sign with Souths. JAC?

@avocadoontoast you sound jaded mate.

LM hasn't signed with the Bunnies and no one knows JAC's future team.

How could anyone support the WT and not be jaded.

Fair point, we are never anyone's first, second or even third choice when they switch clubs, unless of course they are over paid or high up on the plodder scale, then we jump to number one

When Maguire joined I thought there’d be a real boost in attracting talent. But it’s been no better, maybe worse.

Rothfield has no idea where he is going. His lack of info now means he replies with zzzzz, if the media can’t control the discussion they get bored very quickly.

Still think this doesn’t quite add up. A glimmer of hope still

Weather or not he is going to Souths it doesn't matter as he is not coming here.. If he was coming here it would of been done by now. I think its time we can all moved on.
It is very disheartening though as we have all this cash and it's going to be used on upgrading development players or fringe first graders.. If people think this is bad wait until next year when we have even more $$$$ and we will be hitting F5 all day with our fingers crossed..
We need to make the finals this year to help us recruit :man-shrugging:

But if he’s going somewhere else, why hasn’t he signed. Why is it only us that he would have signed by now if he was coming?

It would be interesting to see if we ended up with Bennett as our coach last year instead of Madge whether we would’ve attracted more talent. I don’t think Madge’s reputation holds a candle to Bennett’s when it comes to player recruitment. He’s an old fossil now, but he still commands respect from the players and those in the rugby league world alike.

I wished we had hung on to Marsters instead of releasing him early and not locking in anyone to replace him. It was unnecessary for us and were now weaker than season 2019. We drop further down the ladder and become even less desirable to off contract players

We are the only club to have offered him a contract with massive money and a position he prefers as most of the other clubs just don't have the funds.. It says to me he would rather take a pay cut and be in a winning team than come to us.
That's just my thoughts but I hope I am wrong..
For me Souths have asked him to hold off until they get everything in order and lose a few players..

Looks like tigers and knights GF 2020

I bet the knights would wear the hi-vis jersey for that game

To answer the original question of why hasnt he signed elsewhere, its because we are the only club that can sign him without other permutations required. IMO the reason for the delay is the requirement for his chosen club (probably Souffs) to move someone else on.

Lol no doubt. I’m pretty sure the only time they ever wear it is against us, just to confuse everyone ?

This, I believe, sums up the situation well.

Wow. Another ham and egger with inside info has thrown his hat into the ring.

I must have read "it's a done deal" about 20 times already in this LM issue.

What's he had though? He took on Ivan's team after one season; most of the players Ivan signed were locked in 3-4 year deals.

Madge had no money and no time to spend it for 2019, signed Jennings.

He's got all his re-signings and junior signings worked out over a longer term, but his top-shelf money for 2020 only became available in the middle of November.

Hard to judge the bloke on about 6 weeks of being able to try recruiting with genuine cap space.

Cap space that he created by releasing players early,we didnt obtain any compensation from Parra for Matterson, and the early release of Marsters, who we are yet to replace. Im a Maguire fan, but im seriously scratching my head this off season

Maybe Madge believes he has a replacement with Momo, or Talua and doesn't need another centre, with Mbye.
