Same on channel 9 news yesterday. Mentioned Latrell signing to Souths on a 3 year deal 🙁

Who cares as long he does not sign with the Tigers ... Souths can have him and all the Baggage he brings ! The smart operator’s want nothing to do with him ..the Foxx on the other hand come on down ?

Fox doesn't solve our fullback problem.

Just goes to show how shonky some of this stuff is with other clubs … after signing Arrow they claim they cant afford LM, we don’t have enough in our cap to fit him in … a week later LM is about to sign a 3 year deal with them … !! that’s bulldust … let’s hope that the Roosters play hard ball and don’t allow the transfer for this season … and what’s does the NRL think of these types of signings where they can clearly see something is not right about it … nothing … !! Just goes to show that NRL itself is on the take … they allow the stronger clubs to get stronger and don’t care if the weaker clubs get weaker … !!

The NRL isn't on the take. He didn't sign with us because he didn't want to, same with Arrow. Regardless of the rubbish we're force fed, we are not an attractive club. The elite players don't want to play for us.

The elite players don't want to play for us because there is always a huge scarcity of elite players who actually sign to play for us. It's a never ending circle of rowing upstream for our club.

They bailed souths out of a salary cap mess 2 years in a row, they wrote Inglis a reference after he was caught speeding whilst over the limit.
No club has ever had this done in the past, nor will it happen in the future.
Even the calls souths received from officials during their 2014 title win was ridiculous, the NRL wanted souths to win, and they got their wish.

Fair enough but it's not Souths fault or the NRL's fault that we are in the predicament we are currently in.

It's never our fault

Well said. The first step to overcoming a problem is admitting you have one. And Pascoe et al seem to be oblivious of that.

I remember the grand final ,all the pre tapped packages were about the bunnies.
The commentary was big noting the bunnies.

Are you suggesting LM will solve the fullback problem ?

My oldest son (a Souths supporter) was saying to me yesterday that with Arrow they will have 10 rep players in their side. It made me feel a bit sick, i certainly dodnt have the stomach to go through their lineup to confirm. Add Mitchell too and it's an absolute crock.

If we want to compete in this showcase, we certainly will get no help from the NRL or anywhere else. We have to do it ourselves.

Build the facilities, get Leo to call Harry Trig to get some games of golf going, get some mongrel in the team. Im sick of my team being also-rans.

For fullback, promote from within or steal a highly promising CC player from another club now and give him first shot this year. Finals this year is even more unlikely, so blood our youngsters, get our house in order, play with some mongrel, and start playing outside of the rules.

It is easier to blame others than look at yourself for reasons of failure in certain areas !

In the real world the more elite players you had on your books would have to mean less to go around for them and everyone else.
We're obviously not living in a 'real' world.

I don't think there is a real desire from within the club to be honest, from the owners.

One thing we all know, when we have a few players on excellent contracts, it means the remaining squad are on a pittance. Rumours are Murray has just agreed to a new 5 year deal. If true, it is going to take all of Bennett's man management skills to sooth the egos. I'd hate to be in that dressing room.

If we arent willing to bend the rules and effectively cheat, then we cannot compete with the top clubs. The best we could hope for is a one-off miracle like 2005 (which I would happily take in a heartbeat).

Unfortunately this is the reality of this club. Players just don't want to come here. To get any decent player the club would have to pay massive overs for them.
I laugh at times reading this and the signings and rumours threads saying we should sign XXX or XXX.
They just dont want to come to the club!!!

I assume the instability of the club in the past is the reason, but who knows tbh

Tried that and got caught. Didn't even sack the bloke responsible.

I dont think we tried to cheat, we misunderstood the rules, it was more incompetence than deliberate cheating. And to Pascoe, this is business, do business better, cheat better.

That's ok because we can produce our own superstars. We have in the past so there is no doubt we can do it again. Our issue, highlighted in the other thread is retaining them. This is where we need to be on the top of our game.

I tend to agree. It was more gross incompetence than cheating.

With the exception of Tedesco what superstar have we produced in the past decade?

Dunno man, superstar is a big call. Maybe produced 1 (teddy) in recent history. Could make an argument about a few others I guess but it would be a stretch. I'd be more inclined to think that Teddy was the abnormality of the system rather than the norm (bog average first graders)
