Unfortunately our standards havent seemed to be very high.

Back to Latrell, if he ends up at Souths, the Tiger boys need to be reminded that he could have been one of us, but he didnt rate us highly enough to come and join. So when we play Souths, we want him smashed into next week.

Just like we smashed Ben Teo, Tedesco, Woods, Moses etc etc....

Hang on....

We don't smash anyone mate. It is not who we are.

Actually correct me if I'm wrong but Teddy's first game against us did not end the way he and everyone anticipated. We certainly smashed them with a squad that no one rated or gave a chance - myself included

We beat a Roosters team, in a very poor game, as we were fitter and much more up for it. They won the comp...

We certainly did not bash them.

Who led the Melb Cup at the first turn in 2018?

You might think it was a very poor game but I enjoyed every minute of it after years of scorelines that were embarrassing. Our team gave everything that day right to the last minute. You had a crack at them for when they don't perform fair enough but don't undersell when they do.

Not at all, I love the way they almost always try their guts out and tons of blokes get a second / third chance with us. In many ways, it epitomises who we are.

But I do think it covers a much bigger issue, which is that we need class players/ elite if we are going to move up.

You can bet we will jump rock hard fit and likely win a few games to start this coming season also. Cory will look good, the pack will outlast other packs due to fitness.

The club will say all is great.

But June to Sept we will need some class to win they key games. We need to somehow get that class now.

The NRL isn't on the take. He didn't sign with us because he didn't want to, same with Arrow. Regardless of the rubbish we're force fed, we are not an attractive club. The elite players don't want to play for us.

I still can't see how Souffs are an 'attractive' club... obviously that bonehead Crowe is the lure.
Won the title once this century (same as us) and have a supporter base filled with sycophants and toothless cretins.

Crowe, Bennett and they are the ‘pride of the league’ mate. Don’t you remember the statement from some bozo NRL boss a few years ago that if Souths are winning then rugby league wins? No bias there at all, just pure fact.

Who at the NRL said that?

No one, I got it wrong. It was a journalist and it was something like if South Sydney are going well, then Rugby League is going well. In all the hoo ha that went on at the time I thought one of the league officials said it after Souths we’re reinstated in the comp.

It is a saying that has been around since Methusala was in short pants unfortunately.

And it makes me sick every time I hear it, rugby league does not revolve around souths, ignorant to think it does

NRL.com says: Six doesn't go into five in the backline with Braidon Burns back from a hamstring injury, meaning Adam Doueihi is likely to revert to a bench utility role.

With Sam Burgess and John Sutton retired, the likes of Ethan Lowe and Jaydn Su'A are in the frame for starting edge roles. Bayley Sironen, Tom Amone, Mark Nicholls and Kurt Dillon are competing for two bench spots.

Jamie Soward says: I'd play Adan Doueihi at fullback with Alex Johnston to miss out. The way Doueihi played in that last game against Canberra, he was their best player and he adds plenty with his ball playing and all-round game with his finesse and toughness.

I'd have Tom Amone straight into the starting team at prop and Knight on the bench. I'd also bring Keaon Kolomatangi in on the bench – he's a hard worker through the middle and can ball play as well, he's that Wayne Bennett type of player.

NRL.com's predicted Rabbitohs round 1 team
Alex Johnston
Campbell Graham
Braidon Burns
James Roberts
Dane Gagai
Cody Walker
Adam Reynolds
Liam Knight
Damien Cook
Thomas Burgess
Jaydn Su'A
Ethan Lowe
Cameron Murray

Adam Doueihi
Tevita Tatola
Mark Nicholls
Tom Amone

I've never heard of amone...is he good?

The South Sydney Rabbitohs are delighted to announce the signing of young forward Tom Amone until the end of the 2020 season.

Amone, 22, has excelled at the NSW ISP level over the past three years playing with the Blacktown Workers Sea Eagles and Wentworthville Magpies.

An Australian Schoolboys and Junior Kiwis representative player, Amone won the Sea Eagles’ ISP best and fairest player award in 2018 and was also named in the NSW ISP team of the year. He played alongside current Rabbitohs teammates Connor Tracey and Bayley Sironen for the Australian Schoolboys in 2014.

I think that Latrell will end up at Souffs, i think it has always been the plan, but I have been spending a little time in the Souffs forum at LU and they are unhinged. For WEEKS now they are telling themselves its done, the announcement is TODAY! Each day that goes by its hilarious to watch the rationalisation of the delay...."We are just finalising the details with AJ to Tigers......We are waiting for media to get back from holidays to get the best impact on announcement......"

If he doesnt end up there it will be hilarious.

Its exponentional to what happened here (I think we are all resigned to him not coming here now). The latest was it was being announced at 2pm today. Turned out it was announcing Tom Amone extension. Its hilarious. It think he will still go there, but watching them tying themselves in knots is gold.

If the salary cap was properly policed, some players would be forced to sign with clubs that were not their preferred choice.

I will say again it would be a stupid decision to take anyone off Souths hands who they were looking to move on to create space.

Almost as stupid as releasing good players to create space, without having replacements lined up.

The only suggestion he's signed with souths is from a random forum person. We all know how gospel they are...

They still have to offload two players (who also have to want to go) and get an early release from their biggest enemy

Lol wouldnt it be incredible if WT announces LM has signed with us. Im not saying he will, I have no inside info, I dont think he will now, but just what if.. Id go straight here to this forum, read the incredible news, then check out the Burrow to keep the high spirits going.

Almost as stupid as playing OUR home game against Parra at THEIR home ground 2 years in a row.
Our club are stupid enough to do anything!

Unfortunately this is the reality of this club. Players just don't want to come here. To get any decent player the club would have to pay massive overs for them.
I laugh at times reading this and the signings and rumours threads saying we should sign XXX or XXX.
They just dont want to come to the club!!!

I assume the instability of the club in the past is the reason, but who knows tbh

That's ok because we can produce our own superstars. We have in the past so there is no doubt we can do it again. Our issue, highlighted in the other thread is retaining them. This is where we need to be on the top of our game.

With the exception of Tedesco what superstar have we produced in the past decade?

Tuiaki and Dwyer were potential superstars and match winners.

Tedesco is very good, but not a superstar and in my view is behind the greats of Slater, Langlands, Eadie, Jack, Langlands etc.

Moses, Woods, Marsters and Brooks are also very good and three are internationals.

So 2 superstars definitely, three if you included Tedesco.

Gee I can't agree with you there. Tuiaki was a very good winger but no way was he a superstar. Dwyer had the potential to be a superstar but unfortunately never reached it. Tedesco is the best player in the game currently and the best player we've produced in the past decade by a country mile imo.

Moses, Woods, Marsters and Brooks are nowhere near superstars. Moses and Brooks have never played rep footy and Woods days of rep footy are well and truly over. Marsters used to be decent but in 2019 was bog average.

And finally, even when we had Tedesco, Woods, Brooks, Moses we failed to make the finals.

Neglected Benji and Robbie! Benji and Robbie are way ahead of Tedesco. I am a huge Tuiaki fan and he revolutionised wing play. He was lethal like no other winger and Sheens' strategy was pure genius. Pulled from second grade rugby at Manly as a breakaway. Dwyer another matchwinner, which makes me sad just to think about him now.

No we didn't neglect Robbie and Benji as we were talking about the last decade only.

Both played at our club in 2019..? Lol

He means their form this decade was nowhere near their form from the previous decade, as he was talking the last decade, and hard to argue against it either.

Well i guess we will find out come monday the 6th of Jan 20, if LM has signed with us or not, as the Tigers are due back to training come monday mid morning .. !!
