Doesn’t really give the Wests Tigers the best outlook does it.....
I’ve said before - we need to accept this as the current truth and change our culture. We are perennial underachievers and chokers at all levels of the organisation no matter who is involved. This culture now has a stench that is affecting effective recruitment. If we don’t change our culture we will never improve. Successful leaders know the importance of a positive culture. It’s where change
Sorry @Tiger_Steve but these are the posts that do my head in. What is your solution. Who do u bring in thats better then our leadership. Are u sacking everyone or just one person.
Who is the person to turn it around. So many people point out the negatives but have zero thoughts on how to change it.
Facts are we are kicking goals off the field. If you don't see that you are not looking. So that leaves on the field. Who is to blame for that and how do you fix it? Sack another coach, move of a CEO, change the board again.
Honestly stop whinging if you cant value add some kind of solution.

Sorry to upset you and I am not whinging. If you want to sit down I’d be happy to set out a generic strategy aimed at changing culture. Of course to contextualise this i need to be inside the organisation.
I didn’t mention anything about sackings. In fact, quite hard to do and not recommended or necessary.
Who turns it around? Everybody!
Mate there is a lot of stuff I know bugger all about but when it comes to major culture shifting and organisational improvement, I am in my area of expertise. I lead it everyday.
I do see improvement- didn’t say I didn’t. But it will all amount to nothing if we keep losing the clutch moments on and off the field consistently. I guarantee you we lose them because of a deep rooted belief that we can’t win these moments. Others see this, pick up on it and choose to not be part of our organisation.
Not having a go at you but the thing that does my head in is anyone holding a less than glowing view is a whinger. I’m not. I’m a realist and I see a disturbing pattern that has been growing for all bar a dozen weeks or so in 2005. And it’s fixable.

Latrell Mitchell will reportedly meet with Souths coach Wayne Bennett in the next few days to work out how to facilitate a move to the Rabbitohs. Mitchell was granted leave by the Sydney Roosters to stay away from pre-season training on Sunday night, and it’s widely believed he’s played his last game for the Bondi glamour club.
The Daily Telegraph reports Mitchell wants to play under Bennett, a seven-time premiership-winning coach renowned as a mentor who players love to play for. The report said the Rabbitohs’ focus was securing an early release for Gold Coast forward Jai Arrow to join the club next season, which could be finalised within 24 hours.
News of Mitchell’s signing being a step closer comes despite Bennett saying last month that he wasn’t interested in bringing Mitchell to the club. **Bennett has previously denied an interest in a player only to sign him weeks later, as was the case when securing James Roberts from the Brisbane Broncos."**We will make a decision based on what money we’ve got left over and what we can and can’t do.”
But in a stunning development, the Telegraph reported that “Arrow’s release from the Titans will be finalised in the next 24 hours.” If Arrow’s release is granted, that means the Rabbitohs could turn their attention to Mitchell, who might be happy to sign a cut-price, one-year deal worth $400,000 at Redfern — having rejected a $1 million contract at Wests Tigers and an $800,000 offer at the Roosters.
One roadblock to the Bunnies securing Mitchell on a cut-price deal is that it would have to be cleared by the game’s salary cap auditor, who will determine his true market value.
It’s understood NRL auditor Richard Gardham has final discretion to determine market value using a list of comparative players to reach his decision.
NRL’s salary cap laws state a player cannot be registered on a contract worth considerably less than his market value.

So in other words Bennett is a compulsive liar, but he’s such a great guy! Still able to attract all the best players.
I’m really over all this BS, tbh. I really wish our club wasn’t involved in it at all. It was fun when reports of Mitchell possibly signing with us first came out, now the whole thing has just become a sick joke.
If Souths do manage to secure him on a 1 year contact for 400k, then I’m done with Rugby League.

If Rabbits only need to come up with $600,000 as you say and they already have $400,000 cap money left then some team will jump at the chance of getting Johnston for $200,000
That's all they wood need to get Mitchell over the line
If it's not us then it's someone else
So it looks like we may have a choice whether we like it or not
Johnston or nothing
If they don't get Arrow for 2020 then they will probably keep Johnston and we still get nothing
Its like a game of chicken
Who's going to crack 1st
Let's hope to rumours about the chooks are true
Then they would need to shed players
Hello Teddy

Mitchell isn't on 800K for 2020 tho...that was the new deal offered by the Rorters for 21/22....
His current contract was signed when he was a youngster...400K Rorters style..

It is meant to be in place to give equal opportunity for all and increasingly all it is doing is ensuring that the glamour clubs pick the eyes out of the best that's available to keep them firmly planted in the top of the competition and the rest of us try to hold onto anything decent and pick up the left overs.
This situation does not demonstrate that at all.
The salary cap is preventing Roosters from holding Latrell "on speculation", because he's no longer a priority for them and they are better off not having his value on the books.
The salary cap is preventing the Rabbits from making Latrell an offer that can match Tigers.
The salary cap is preventing any other club for 2020, apart from Titans, from making Latrell an offer, as their books are full.
This situation only serves to demonstrate that, potentially, Latrell would rather join Souths than Tigers and money is not the issue.
The salary cap does give Tigers absolutely equal opportunity to get the best players, unfortunately in this instance, the player in question may not be interested.
That's true he doesn't want to come us that is obvious. But if the NRL allows South's to sign him for half of what his market value this year to then offer him a contract next year at significantly greater value to fit their cap - then the purpose of what the salary cap is in place for is flawed.

@old_man_tiger said in [Latrell Mitchell Contract Discussion](/post/1098696) said:Might be an unpopular view, however, a market only exists when there is a buyer and a seller. If LM is only willing to sell his services to one club then you can argue that whatever he gets from that club is his market value.
The thing that is painful is that I have no confidence in the NRL to ensure he doesn't receive money outside the cap. Therefore, despite my first paragraph I hope they make Souffs pay at least 600k from their cap.
Having to match an offer dollar for dollar is a bad idea and the NRL shouldn't force clubs to pay equal amounts.
For example if a club wanted Brooks and offered 800 but he was happy to stay with us for 700 why should we stump up the additional? What if they went up to a mil but he still didn't want to move? You can't use these offers to create a pseudo draft where players and clubs are forced into certain terms.
Finally if LM takes 400k or more less to play for souffs then it really is his loss.

It is a one year deal - it will be adjusted next year. It is a deliberate rorting of the cap to get a quality player in their squad for this year when they have no cap space to sign him.
