Latu Fainu #282

Wests Tigers are set to replace one teen tyro with another, calling highly rated 18-year-old Latu Fainu up for his NRL debut in place of the suspended Lachlan Galvin.

Galvin starred in Monday’s gutsy upset win over Parramatta only to have his breakout NRL performance soured by a hip drop charge on Kelma Tuilagi.

Galvin will accept a two-game suspension, ruling him out of Saturday’s trip to Redcliffe to face the Dolphins and the following week’s clash with St George Illawarra.

Fainu has been told he will make his first-grade debut against the Dolphins, though it is not yet clear if that will be stepping into the No.6 jersey alongside veteran halfback Aidan Sezer or coming off the bench.

Fellow young playmaker Jayden Sullivan has played a utility role for the Tigers for the past two weeks and could be elevated back into the starting side, with Fainu to take his place in the No.14 jumper.

Fainu’s signing alongside brother Samuela on lucrative four-year deals was heralded as a much-needed recruitment coup during the Tigers’ wooden spoon campaign last year, the pair lured from Manly after the Dolphins withdrew from negotiations.

Imagine WTs having the depth to replace a young player of Galvin's talent with an equally young player of Fainu's ability. Outstanding.

Benji is perfect love him so much

Sullivan has been hooked both times he started for being ineffective and a turnstile in defence. Latu should get minutes against the Dolphins.
How did Latu play in the Knock On Effect Cup on the weekend .. ?? I hear he only played 40 mins .. ?? I know we won 32 - 26 over Parra in this game .. another great comeback from the Magpies by the reports.

We didn't have much possession when he was on, but he didn't have his best game. One bomb from his 30 that only went to Parra's 30 and another kick charged down. Defensively terrific though.

Surprised they're going to debut him given his lack of minutes.

Well he's played more reserve grade than Galvin had. I'm just going to enjoy this madness while it lasts. Maybe we'll keep hitting double sixes.

Yeah I suppose we debuted Bula straight from injury and worked alright. Happy to back the coaches.

Crazy to think it's a possiblity for us to have fainu fainu and fainu all coming the bench for us in the future. I don't think I've seen a bench of three brothers before
Walkers maybe ? Chris, Ben and Shane did they all play together at Brisbane Burgess brothers may have all been on the bench together before maybe ? Tom, George and Luke with Sam starting. My guess anyway LOL
