The 2025 weight target coming back the pre-season was 88kgs for Latu. Which isn’t big enough for lock. Should anything happen to Jarome or Galvin, he is the back up half. At Penrith they have also had a half that slotted straight in when Cleary or Jarome was out.

You're going all in on him being a half. You're not a gambling man, but that may be a gamble worth taking.

Daley started in the centres, as did Fittler, Lockyer at 1, Wally at 13. They're the best 5/8s of all time. Munster at 1. Start somewhere and eventually get the 6 jumper. I'd start him in the centres.

R1 he will be the 14 for sure. At times of the year he will need to get 80 mins in the halves in reserve grade to get his match fitness up. Same with TDS

With due respect to Api and every other experienced or not option, I want Latu, Tallyn, Luke and their like, to force the push of others from their positions or out of the weekly squad. Unless it presents a positional deficiency, the best 17 should always be selected and shuffled accordingly.

A real dilemma choice between Latu and TDS neck and neck maybe opposition game plans could separate them.

TDS is a specialist dummy half
Latu is a specialist half (6/7)
I would expect with no injuries involved the dummy half will get replaced for a rest and the half’s would normally play out the whole game.
IMO that makes TDS our 14 when API returns from suspension.

The weakest spots on the starting team are 2nd Row & Centre.

We have 2 quality players playing for 1 bench spot.

If only 1 of them could play 2nd Row or Centre & get them on the field.........

I don’t see a place for him in the starting side unless Galvin or Luai go down. I suppose he or TDS will fill a utility role. If I had to guess, I’d say TDS would get that gig. Only because as a hooker, there can be a plan in place to give Api a spell for 20-25 mins a week. Whereas playing a half on the bench, it isn’t often there is a strategic plan in place for them, they are just there to cover the halves. Unless they come on and play dummy half, in which case, we have TDS. Fainu is better off in KOE cup then wasting away on the bench every week as injury cover. Which would adversely rob TDS of first grace time.
