Of course he will play well, contract is up for renewal.

At the end of 2016…

Call me cynical, but watch how he plays this year and into next, to secure a new contract.
You and I have both been around long enough, and have seen this happen many times in past seasons.

You're stretching mate. His poor form has had nothing to do with contract security.

From all accounts, the bloke is a professional, a great trainer and a nice bloke to boot.

Fair enough in years to come he may not be a starter due to his injuries holding him back and take a significant pay cut, but he should never be booted from the club.

It would send a terrible message to the other players that professionalism, pride, dedication and hard work is not valued.

That's a fair enough point. If it wasn't for that injury he'd be the most lethal centre in the game today. But because of that injury it does seem cruel that the club and supporters would want to disown him. And yes, i've been guilty of saying he should be offloaded, so i'm not trying to sound like a hypocrite. Regardless, his potential was flushed down the toilet due to his injury and that's sad.

In all fairness,Rowdy has had his knockers of late, however even though I don't think he will get back to his superb best, mainly because of a lot of injuries he sustained,I would like to give him the chance to show us how much better he will be for us especially after a great preseason during 2015…

After reading all the hype about being much fitter and full of confidence...the ball is in his court so to speak,it is up to him to make amends on his poor performances..

He did played injured because he didn't want to let the club down...all he did was let himself down with said performances, although creditable he did himself no favours...

This will be his year of redemption or time to move on...it's his play...

knocking him for playing first grade?

AHX,the people are knocking him for his performance in first grade.

I'm willing to give him a chance to show us some of the form that made him a highly paid FIrst Grader to start with..

I have even allowed for the severe injuries he has had,and now that he is over them ..apparently,it is time to earn the big dollars he is on..

Nothing more or nothing less..cheers AHX…

This season I will be blunt and to the point.
No more looking at the potential happy side of life, because it consistently let's you down.
Expectation, when not achieved leads to dis-appointment, which leads to frustration.
I do hope for Rowdy's sake he can once again be the dominant centre we have seen.
Only time will tell.

So where do we draw a line in the sand ??

We have moved it for a few seasons now

I love Rowdy as much as the next bloke , but we have to take that out of the equation

If we get to Round 10 and nothing has changed , what then ??

Happy,as I said earlier,if his performances are sub standard,we should look at putting him in State Cup,then moving him on…

People in earlier threads have said it is time for the deadwood to be removed...I'm of the same opinion but I'm willing to give him the chance to atone for previous bad form....

If you think he will hit the ground running come round one, you have to be kidding right?

I don't think you will see the best out of Lawrence till the second half of the season (Pending he stays injury free), the guy has not had any consistency and momentum on the field over the last three years plus the rebuilding of players and combinations constantly changing around him has not helped either.

He started coming good last year when he was on constantly on the field.. - He did his ankle again and was out for some time. He is a momentum player that requires consistent time on the field.. If you havent noticed about Lawrence yet.. I think you're only seeing the negatives with the missed tackles , lack or thereof lateral movement with all new players on either side of him each time that have also constantly rotated … watch the guy after a few games and then a few games thereafter again when he's consistency on the field.. theres always improvement in his game.. and when he gets to a point where he has improved and his timing has improved.. he injures himself again.

He's a player that will be closely watched by all of us this year and I hope he does improve because really, we dont have anyone of the quality and potential in skill he once had when he was consistently on the field in a successful team... him constantly returning from injury with no timing in an underperforming team wouldn't be helping him confidence either

My two cents

We seriously need a yawn icon .

So sick of reading and talking about this guy. Puts himself unnecessary pressure on himself .
He should expect some knockers throughout the year , when we are doing it tough.

In essence, we have lost Lawrence in the same way we have lost Dwyer and Tuiaki - it's just that he's still on the field, a shadow of his former self. In my opinion, it would be easier to take if he was gone altogether, instead of having to watch him struggle each week, hoping his former skills will return.

Well for anyone who watched the members telecast today or was at the session JT repeatedly talked about Lawrence and how he has been forced to come back early from injury, asked to play with injury, hwo he hasnt been allowed to get back to fitness since his hip injury. That Lawrence said to him he new he couldnt go sideways but could run straight and tackle when people came at him but that was about all due to ankle injuries last couple of years. So will be interesting to see how he goes at full fitness

I think this is a perfect example of what was being talked about earlier. If he wasn't nearly crippled, everyone would want to be his best friend and would be putting him on a pedestal. But because he was severely injured which destroyed his career, everyone wants to disown him and get pretty spirited while they're at it. Everyone puts Tuiaki and Dwyer up on a pedestal due to their injuries, yet want to always put Lawrence in the dog house. That's really fair isn't it.

It is good for a coach to defend and stand up for his players. Try and give them confidence.

However what Taylor might find is even when fully fit Chris might not have the pace to cut it there anymore.

Ill be honest I gave up on Lawrence 2 years ago, but lets wait and see a month under the new regime i suppose.

He is def going to either take a front rower or a centre to the back row. He said they were experimenting with changes there because we are light in that area. I initially thought a Big bopper out a bit wider but given how highly he talked about Kevin Naiquama it could be Lawrence.
