LAWRENCE: ‘I’M THE FITTEST I’VE BEEN IN THREE YEARS’

I personally like to see some one new in the centre position, instead of Chris. Change is the way forward.

As much as i like Chris I think it's time for a change.

Hope he proves me wrong, but very unlikely he will.

Me too, Tigermama! A bit of pace, with the element of surprise, in the centres would be nice - Simona and Naiqama to start, Chris to the forwards.

Yeah Taylor pretty much confirmed what I had been thinking in regards to Chris. I'll put this bluntly, the Tigers really destroyed his career. He has never really been given an opportunity to heal properly from any of his injuries. Think back to how quickly he initially returned from the hip injury to only then tear his hamstring. Now to see how this happens you need to remember that people have jobs that rely on the success of this club, jobs that rely on fielding the strongest possible team. Now when the pressure is really on in your job of course you would be tempted to rush players back early or to get them to play through injury.

Chris earnt the contract he is on, he was then injured terribly while fulfilling that contract. He deserves to play out that contract, even if that is in the lower grades. People ask for loyalty from players but then show none to a player that was severely injured while representing you and the club you love.

Cochise, I don't think any one here is disrespecting Chris. Some of us are just expressing an opinion, that he's not suited to playing in his preferred position as centre any more. Not in first grade any way.

Sorry but some people are being disrespectful and have been for a long time. I actually agree that he probably isn't up to centre anymore and quite possible 1st grade completely. The problems I have are the calls to offload him or cut him, some people don't even refer to him by name in their posts. Sorry you don't get much more disrespectful than that.

As i stated earlier, he earnt this contract and then was injured fulfilling it. He deserves to play out the final 2 years of his contract, even if that is in reserve grade. If that means we are a little limited in our salary cap, then so be it, the club committed to that contract.

Well then let's hope Chris plays some good footy for us for the next couple of seasons  whether in first grade or NSW Cup.

You pick now to start saying "Lets not call player X names"

Where have you been the last…... 100 years?

AHX,the people are knocking him for his performance in first grade.

I'm willing to give him a chance to show us some of the form that made him a highly paid FIrst Grader to start with..

I have even allowed for the severe injuries he has had,and now that he is over them ..apparently,it is time to earn the big dollars he is on..

Nothing more or nothing less..cheers AHX…

So where do we draw a line in the sand ??

We have moved it for a few seasons now

I love Rowdy as much as the next bloke , but we have to take that out of the equation

If we get to Round 10 and nothing has changed , what then ??

If you think he will hit the ground running come round one, you have to be kidding right?

I don't think you will see the best out of Lawrence till the second half of the season (Pending he stays injury free), the guy has not had any consistency and momentum on the field over the last three years plus the rebuilding of players and combinations constantly changing around him has not helped either.

He started coming good last year when he was on constantly on the field.. - He did his ankle again and was out for some time. He is a momentum player that requires consistent time on the field.. If you havent noticed about Lawrence yet.. I think you're only seeing the negatives with the missed tackles , lack or thereof lateral movement with all new players on either side of him each time that have also constantly rotated … watch the guy after a few games and then a few games thereafter again when he's consistency on the field.. theres always improvement in his game.. and when he gets to a point where he has improved and his timing has improved.. he injures himself again.

He's a player that will be closely watched by all of us this year and I hope he does improve because really, we dont have anyone of the quality and potential in skill he once had when he was consistently on the field in a successful team... him constantly returning from injury with no timing in an underperforming team wouldn't be helping him confidence either

My two cents

Adam I'd be happy to see gradual improvement

I would sell Geo's soul to see Rowdy get back to his best

Seriously there is no one here that does not fill for his hardship of injuries and bad luck he has with them.
I'm sure everyone here is also hoping he returns to his best or you wouldn't be a true Wests Tigers supporter.
I feel there is no need to beat up in the media, how fit you are, the body feels better than it ever has. Yeah great in the positivity talk but this game you are judged on performances on the field and going by what I have seen of Lawrence? I seriously can't pin point when he had a brilliant game for us?
Whether he was forced to play games not being 100% fit cause of the huge injury tolls we had? I'm not sure.
He deserves his next 2 year Contract, I'm not saying to sack him? All I'm saying is, If his form doesn't warrant a place in the 1st grade side, well he needs to be dropped and need to expose one of our young centres coming through into 1st Grade.
That's just what I reckon.

Lawrence is hole runner.

Played his best football when Marshall was at his best and giving him quality ball.

Will return to a decent level of form once the structure is in place for Brooks and Moses to provide the centres with quality balls.

Its pretty much that simple.

Agreed and I am sure Moses will give him some daylight to run into, my main concern is, has he the pace to make the most of the space that has been created for him??? But like you Gong I think we could see a pretty good Lawrence in 2015

I agree Lawrence is a hole runner and he was Benji's go-to man on the left but I'm still not sure we can carry a centre on his wage who will never be able to sprint away and score a 40-50m try. I truly hope he can turn it around but just can't see it happening. It's been 4 years. I hope JT plays Simona on the left where he's lethal and shifts Lawrence to the right.

I agree with Flipp. I would love to see Simona and Naiqama be our centers in 2015.

Kevin is fast, has no problems with his lateral movement, is strong and very good defensively. Not many would get on the outside of him. Lawrence as our centre, makes our team vulnerable. He's our Achilles heal. Sad but true. Here's hopping JT will find the answer with this predicament.

Tigermama,I know you think Rowdy is a liability at the moment,I also have had reservations about his performances in the past..
Having said that I honestly believe we will see a different Chris to past years,a full pre season and injuries healed I think he will surprise no end this year..

we must remember CL is a quality player that has had setbacks,he has the ability to bounce back and has my full support for 2015…

Also the young guys would learn quite a bit from him,he does a lot behind the scenes that we dont get to see....sometimes liabilities can be turned into assets..just my opinion Mama....

Also Mama,I agree with Kevin and Tim in the centres,I just dont feel right about not giving Rowdy time to redeem himself and show us his worth in 2015…...

Even the coach has said he had been badly managed as far as injuries go.

Poor bugger on wonky ankles a dud shoulder AND that hip and still played.

I understand the frustration…he looked like hewas gonna be our own Gasnier but it hasnt come to fruition.

This year will tell whether he still has it or not....one thing we all know he is class.

Agree with both of your posts TT. I hope he gets to play some good footy for us. It's been a long time coming. I wish Chris, all the luck in the world. But it's good to have a decent replacement in Kevin though . Can't wait for the season to start. So excited!

How about we give him the 3 or 4 weeks he deserves to prove himself.
He says he is fit - well there will be no excuses and I'm sure he won't offer any.

Let's not then judge him on last year or on 9's football. Let us see how he goes in the NRL in 2015 and then make the call.

This will be the first time in years he actually has a couple of decent playmakers inside him. It does make a difference.
