Lawrence eyes Origin

Talking about Ayshford's chances for origin, I know he's in contention, but who else is out there that would be any competition for Blake getting the #3 Blues jumper?

The only player I can think of is Jennings, and he wasn't in that great form last year. From memory he had 1 try all season (albeit in Origin).

Possibly Idris as he can be very a bery destructive ball runner, but NSW may be better served by injecting him into the game as a 2nd tower late in the game.

Jamie Lyon has said he isn't interested in Origin and Gasnier has retired..

Who else is there?

Jennings is the most likely since he has been there before. Perhaps Josh Morris, but I rate Ayshford over him and while he doesn't have Jennings speed, he's harder to bring down and probably a better defender. Lawrence, provided he's fit should be the first centre selected for NSW.

Ayshford is a must as he has no connection to previous losing SOO blues squads, is cool under pressure and he has always been part of a successful team. Have you ever seen him play a bad game?

Yes, he had a number of sketchy games early 2010 and I believe Sheens even put him on notice.

To be fair though he was only a few games into 1st grade, and he has improved a hell of a lot since then.

LaT I think you are right, but he was out of position playing 5/8\. Anyway thx for your opinion.
That post was my first, no longer a virgin. Lol

He had several shocker in the centres in 2010 where his defence let him down badly. Like Lawrence before him though, Blake has worked hard on his defence and is a much better player for it now.

To be fair, Ayshford is the kind of player supporters from other teams wouldn't take much notice of. I'm sure they would rate guys like Jennings, Morris and Idris ahead of him. Not sure if Cooper has retired from Origin, but if he hasn't then he'll be another in contention. As far as your arguement about Ayshford having no connection to past losing Blues squads, well you could make a case for every player eligable for NSW who wasn't apart of those teams to be selected under that arguement

I couldn't be happier that cooper and Lyon aren't playing. I don't feel they ever really turned up for the blues anyway. If ayshford doesn't get in I would be happy to see Jennings or maybe even beau champion.

Not in the past 18 months. Before that plenty, but your right he has grown as a player immensely and is now one of my favourites. He would suit Origin as he is so laid back the occasion wouldnt get to him, is a great defender and a very strong runner. I have him pencilled in as a darkie…
