LIVE 9's Thread*

What a disappointing ( lack of ) effort! Total disrespect for the fans and spectators at the game. How do you put Rankin and Littlejohn in the same ( 9's ) team?. Master stroke by JT . I think his comments through the week showed they weren't taking this comp seriously and showed on the paddock. Only guys to have a crack were Edwards and Chee-Kam.

Maybe the club is trying to save money and the cheap flights leave early afternoon tomorrow. Melbourne and Broncos to come, could be a long weekend.

You do know that Melbourne and Brisbane are average in this format yeah?

They just played each other and both looked pretty good, especially defensively. We'll have to actually throw some plays at them if we want to score

Has anyone got a clue what are game plan was?
It seemed WTs chose a forward heavy side then tried to spin it haphazardly to the sidelines. Then just before being bundled into touch ,throw a hale Mary.

Pretty much as you said.

Fantastic first match for tigers. No one was injured which is all you can want from a 9s game. Everyone who we wanted to had a run around and blew out some cobwebs. As for individuals all were great vecause they didnt get injured. Masters was impressive and ET looks set for an even better season.

I was watching down the local, so it was hard to tell some of the new players apart, but:

*ET looks bigger and was our best player.
*McIlwrick's service was very crisp.
*Rankin is no more a half than a winger
*Naiquama was poor and his name is now apparently pronounced Nan-guama.

Agree except for Masters. Jury still out …

I know coaches are worried about injuries, but I think that sending your 1st choice halves to the nines might not be such a good idea. There is enough open space that they should be able to create opportunities for players, and plenty of room to place kicks. I good way to develop the ability to control a game.

Well Kevvie played like a Nan.
Seriously though when your coach comes out before the tournament and says "we aren't interested in winning the 9's" you cannot expect a better performance and effort than what we showed out there. Our club just lacks so much passion, pride and fortitude it isnt funny.
Hope the boys had fun taking in the sights over there, what a wasted, pointless trip.

You must have seen a copy of the brilliant plan

Sironin looked good. Rankin was rank

Sirro thrives in this sort of half-arsed stuff. Let's see how he goes in a few weeks when the real comp begins and effort upon effort is required. Nothing will have changed you can bet on it.

Naiqama, Rankin, Littlejohn very ordinary.

None of these three are NRL standard. There a quite a few forum members suggesting LJL should replace Brooks. I think we can all see LJL is too slow and not up to it, None of the three should be anywhere near the NRL this year.

100% Correct . Whats even worse is the club went gang busters trying to flog off special nines merchandise to the fans even though they couldnt give a toss about winning.

We have great depth. Our top 17 has a number of players that are not up to 1st grade standard, and we have plenty more at that level in the lower grades that could be called upon.

Why the …. should I be bothered getting a membership when the club/coach obviously cbf in representing themselves and their fans in anything they compete in

terrible and embarrasing...what a crap attitude from the club

Happy New Year and welcome to the first Wests Tigers CEO Update for 2017.

I’m sure you’re all as excited as we are at Wests Tigers to have football back this weekend! The Auckland Nines provide us a great opportunity to showcase our young talent of the future and provide them with a chance to experience playing in front of a big crowd at a major event.

I’d like to wish our team the best of luck for the coming two days of football, **I’m sure you’ll do yourselves, our Club and our Members proud.** I’d also like to congratulate Elijah Taylor on being named Captain of our side and Sauaso Sue on being named Vice-Captain. This is a great reward for two outstanding young men who continue to embody our Club values in everything they do.

Bollocks!
