Disappointed that I thought we were a much better team this year. We’re not. Somethings wrong.

Nah , we just lost key moments , like that 5 min period just after half time . I know it’s disappointing, but I think we are definitely better . We lack penetration on the right . AD is lay down mesere to start at 6. I can’t believe anyone was questioning that .

I have never come across anyone who has blinkers on more than you.it’s ok to be positive and optimistic but I think you are blind to the reality as far as this team is concerned. It’s just ground hog day

What , no it’s round 1 , and we lost the game in a 10 minute period literally from the 41st minute through to the 50th .
It was 6 all at half time .

A lot of you guys , lack any rational thoughts . Canberra are an elite team . We stayed with them in the forwards , which we haven’t done in previous years . That’s what I look at. Like I said in another thread , come talk to me when we aren’t playing competition heavyweights , and the spine solidifies itself , and continuity grows . Mbye for 1 ,spent the whole offseason at fullback . Laurie arrived 2 weeks ago, our 6 was watching from the bench .

No complaints with Mbye it was a big ask and of course Laurie was a standout .But as long as we are not competitive against the top sides we have no hope of making the 8, no good just beating the also ran’s it’s just masking over the problems with the team and the coach

Not to be a jerk , but if you honestly think Mbye was doing what he was supposed to , than I don’t know what to say , in a team that has a strike centre picking daisies all day . That’s on him to get the centre the ball . Nofa didn’t get one pass at speed all game. He didn’t use Laurie , either . I know why you liked him , cause he put in 2 grabbers for set repeats . That’s like some Des Hasler attacking structures there .

Sorry mate think you may have misunderstood i didn’t say I liked Mbye’s game I was just trying to make the same excuses for him as you did he is an average player now I’m a bit confused about what you’re on about ,you seem to be all over the shop

Tamou had 3 stints due to HIA and Stefano went for HIA after a 25 minute stint as well. Joe O, Tamou and Twal were great.

Stefano needs to lift in attack

He needs the ball to do that. Possession weighed heavily against the Tigers when he was on

I really didn't think we were that bad. beat ourselves for the first 15 after half time and created a few opportunities. don't think I've seen a defensive line move as quickly as Canberra did off their line today and that spooked us, but we were still able to find a few gaps here and there. we'll be ok.

Yeah, I agree with this, especially with the defensive line moving so quickly, I kept thinking surely they were off side?

Liddle bashers are out after the first game of the season, he didn't have a good game but I am sure he will bounce back - JL is good and hopefully this is just a hiccup

it didn't help when you have the Faiders jumping the gun on the play the ball and are always offside

I seen enough for 50mins that when a few are replaced and combinations start to gel things will turn around .

I agree. Easily matched the Raiders in the first half with a very new side. Focus is now to perform in that manner for 80 mins (always true but, again, a very new set of combinations for the FG side).

Second half we made errors and Raiders were competent enough not to make errors. Their attack eventually clicked after a very clunky showing in the firs 40. Raiders barely scored a proper cross-over try until their last one - first was a lucky kick deflection that we had covered, second a very ordinary barge-over, third a simple 1-1 kick contest, fourth that lucky run-away after Tigers had made the line break.

With the rules they are at the moment, teams that lose the possession battle are being blown away in short periods. You could see it on Friday night, with the Broncos (of all sides) putting on 16 unanswered points, then Eels putting on 18, depending on who had won possession. Sharks yesterday almost gave up the lead but for a disallowed Saints try - it was 14-12 with 17 to go - then put on 18 points.

Tigers weren't 18 points worse than Raiders, but Raiders won that possession battle and racked up a few tries.

Our forwards were garbage in attack. Not one of them ran onto the ball. The only one that tried hard was Luciano. Garner cost us a try and was laughing with Wighton when he gave that stupid penalty. Packer is a waste of space. Liddell is too slow in passing the ball. Really it was amateur hour. At what point will it change. I keep hoping but new year same crap

I didn't think Packer was that bad today with limited chances.

More metres and less missed tackles thank Mikaele, in substantially less minutes, I think?

Long-term issue with the club. You can't give "early ball" to every player flat-footed - most of them haven't the talent to make a play without momentum.

I don't know what Brooks is supposed to do, I say this all the time, when he gets the ball, looks up at an aggressive Raiders defensive line, and sees literally zero options. Taking the ball to the line works by getting the defence to set itself whilst having bodies in motion - the defence is unperturbed if you are all just standing around.

They were. That play where Wighton raced up and tackled Mbye (?) on the 5th - he was already a metre in front of the ref when the PTB occurred. That was after he was slapping at Liddle's hand and being penalised.

I don't think the refs do as good a job with the 10m when there's only 1 of them.

Thinking back on it - once they scored we panicked and started doing stupid stuff. Mbye and brooks have to take the blame for that.

Hopefully AD can fix that otherwise it will be a long long season
