Just got back from the game. My thoughts.

We have zero penetration up the middle. Can’t afford to have Hastings at 13 while our props are rubbish apart from Joffa.

As I said when the squad was named we shouldn’t be playing Matamua on an edge and now the poor young fella will know he cost us the game. Not his fault as he didn’t pick himself there.

Pick Brooks or Hastings at 7 and drop the other one. I’d prefer Hastings but we can’t afford to fit both all in there. Doueihi picks himself.

Just watched a delayed replay.

A couple of good signs but lots of low percentage rubbish against a side missing 7.

Matamua is great for a clanger.

At least they tried.

Was Brooks perfect, absolutely not but he doesn't deserve the level of criticism that is levelled at him.

I agree with you but it's not about anything in my opinion other than what is best for the team. Brooks isn't that bad but he continually comes up with dud options at critical times without the upside compared to Doueihi and Hastings.

It's professional footy mate.

We are also a dud team. Just drop Brooks to reserve grade and give Hastings and Doueihi a chance. Brooks is at the backend of his career.

To me it's a no brainer at this point.

he may not have done much with the ball in hand but either did the other 16 players.

His job is to create those opportunities. Douehi did and Hastings did as well.

Doueihi put that kick through today that ended up in a Panther's try. I can't remember Brooks doing anything like that today. The pass to Kepaoa was a clanger but I see plenty each weekend and in the end we got the ball back via a clanger from the Panthers. Why do you think Cleary targeted our right side defence? Doueihi

What is written on this forum carries no weight with the coach fortunately. There appears to be a clique of a few posters who can see no wrong with Doueihi and plenty that is wrong with Brooks, Doueihi had plenty of poor moments today although you wouldn't know it if you relied on this game day thread.

Was Brooks perfect, absolutely not but he doesn't deserve the level of criticism that is levelled at him. It is clear last week and again this week, our left is potent in attack and also did well in defence considering Tupou and Kepaoa were on the left together.

I see a team transitioning in the way it plays with Hastings leading it at 13. He played well and Ofahenguae should move permanently to prop. The young players are learning but will make mistakes. I think we all need to be realistic about our team. The effort was there today and I can't ask for much more.

You are the biggest Brooks apologist on this forum. I have never seen you criticise him for any of his shit play yet you're one of the first to leap in and nitpick at Hastings and AD. AD has plenty of work to do, especially on defense, but he was head and shoulders above Brooks today and has been just about any time he has worn the 6 jersey.

You tried to make the claim that people who supported Madge were putting the individual over the team yet you want to persist with Brooks despite his failures. You are not a Tigers fan, you're a Luke Brooks fan

Hastings to 13 was a roaring success and I bet you will see coaches now reviewing that function in their teams. I see the team transitioning to the way it will play under Sheens and Marshall. Lots to like out there today including the performance of Tupou, Kepaoa, Pole and yes Matamua. Doueihi was good in parts and I like him as a player. We need all three players in our team which I'm sure has always been a part of Sheens' plan. The effort was there and I cannot ask much more than that.
