LIVE game thread

BTW was I the only one who noticed we actually used the bomb tonight? We put up three in first 20 minutes alone and scored off one of them.

Brown played left wing. He wasn't out there for long.

Tedesco played 80 minutes all at fullback. Clear as day he will be there in round one.

Humble played halfback when Moltzen went off in second half, then hooker for last 10 minutes.

Matt Bell impressed me. Not a world beater but he will work all day and his defense is good.

Farah wasn't great IMO, looked pretty rusty. Would be better for the run I think.

Marshall and Tedesco were the standouts. Benji also kicked all his goals, looks like his kicking has improved massively which is great to see.

great thread Underdog. putting things into perspective.

No injuries going into the proper season is the best news. Warriors and Parramatta have injury concerns but not us.

Tedesco sounds like he has done enough to secure the full back spot. Fan of Brown but we need an attacking option which Tedesco ticks the boxes.

I don't care who is picked in our 17 as long as they play with pride and do their best. Proud of them.

2012 is going to be a great year to be a Wests Tigers fan.

Bring on the sharks. Going to be hard seeing Gibbs in a sharks uniform.

What position did Brown play?

wing.

He didn't spend anytime at fullback, however looked to be doing pointers and talking a fair bit.

Interesting - Groat/Bell were inseperable on the bench - always talking through things, going through their drills together, etc, almost like a buddy system. I wonder if Bell is also being told to mentor the younger guys?

I'm pretty sure Fulton was on the field late in first half, pretty sure it was him who missed a tackle that lead to a try.

No thats not right. I think it was Waters. He missed some pearlers.

I think the suggestion is that Lawrence didn't defend well and that Reddy on his outside didn't get good ball. But this was Lawrence's first hitout so c'mon guys relax. Meanwhile, is there any news of video highlights yet?

Was Waters wearing #14 too? Positive it was #14 who missed a tackle on Roosters second try.

Terrible effort should have won that so easy, going to be a very long season.

Good to see you're not letting your lack of knowledge of the game get in the way of making your season prediction.

Generally we get out of the blocks slow, just keeping our 25 man squad in tact for the 1st 12 rds is key so we can build a good platform

Nope that was Nathan Waters who got brushed by Pearce close to the line.

It was Waters…..twice...this bloke is NOT an NRL player. Please stay in State Cup with Mr. Meaney...they just don't cut it!

I just read the match report on the Tigers site. The thing is they have a player list of 13 plus 5 reserves and yet we know that there were unknown bald blokes from BRE and a whole lot of unamed blokes playing bit parts as well. Clearly the most important thing is no one seemed to get seriously injured. Benji kicks goals - woo hoo - Beau has a blinder and the young kid at fullback plays a full 80 and seems to have impressed - all positives folks!

In the end the Roosters threw cannon fodder at us in the first quarter and we didn't capitalise. But I'm comfortable knowing that we were competitive to the end - it seems the last few sets were run at a frantic pace with lots of scrums and line drop outs. The question is was Benji there at the death or was OUR reserve grade trying to win the game at the end?

Tedesco was excellent. Has all the right fullback instincts, puts his body on the line, looks lightening quick and has a great leap. He should be there in 2 weeks. His style of game reminded me of Billy Slater. Thought Benji looked in great nick, short kicking game was excellent. Ryan finished really clinically on all the tries and did everything right all right.

We gave up 3 soft goal line tries, really should have won the game. Really should have done better with simple one on one misses. Had a glut of opportunities in the second half however it looked a bit like Benji magic or bust at times there. Farah looked pretty rusty as did Lawrence. Reddy and Utai were poor.

Overall we look in pretty good nick heading into Round 1 fitness wise. Our right side attack looked quite dangerous tonight and Blair looked strong a couple of times in the opponents 20\. Decent hit out and no injuries.
