Lote Tuqiri thread

Wendel Sailor was slow, but he scored some GREAT tries and helped the dragons dominate all year
Both played in Origin, both played for the Wallabies.
Lote is 5 years younger than Sailor

Now using "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" logic (which in this cases actually seems to hold true) if Sailor returned to league and dominated (plus pulled a crowd), then Lote should do the same plus more

no wait, i take that back
let's just leave Beau Ryan on the wing….

Exactly

if people are taking the UNION form as how he will go in leauge they have nuts in their head

I can't bothered reading through all these pages to find if my facts are right or what i say
has been brought up.

For me,
I can't wait to hear an announcement stating his arrival, but if it doesn't eventuate,so be it.
His current form in rah rah atm is irrelevant to me.Plenty of time off, climate could play a factor
and two players extra on the field.

I'm sure he can recapture his status here of being lethal in a rugby league backline.

Even like the idea of him not starting the season with us,being here mid season.Whether arriving
to a team starting the season strong at the top of the table or a team mid field or struggling to gel.

I don't know much of Lote but he seems far from modest.Be nice to have a narcissist in the club.
Hate have a great win and hearing alot of the opps instead loss aka the manly game. Not saying he will change
that but i don't think he'd wanting to chat about the opp as much.

Back on being a mid season buy..being a from the maggies side of the merger..
Can anyone from the Balmain side tell me about the arrival of Ellery Hanley in 1988?How you
playing prior to his arrival and how you finished the year?…..Simonthetiger....
My memory might be dusty, might be wrong and might be comparing apples and oranges but...
He didn't start the season did he?

I think Lote would definitely have an impact.

Anyway I'll wait and see if he comes here or not.

Players that are great in Rugby League do not always succeed in the boring game.

I can think of a dozen players (Mostly Backs) that havent been able to kick IMO they dont all of a sudden become crap…

As the Wendell experiment showed is in the last two seasons, even an older star with 2 years off can make a difference if his head and heart are there.

Plus it is a great move for the rest of our young squad.

**I am happy if he is taking it a bit easy in UK .... This shows me where his prioity is.**

Thats some special logic youre using there.

I'd prefer someone that gives his all in everything he does, every day…be it training, game day, media & club commitments.
I doubt professionals get to the top of their game by taking it ''easy'' when it suits them....I often hear ''hard work '' mentioned when these people are interviewed about how they got to where they are....but youre happy to have someone thats prepared to take a healthy pay packet yet not give value for money... thats right by your logic his priority is with us, thats OK then....just why though thats his priority I still cant fathom. He owes us nothing, same as the mob he's playing half heartedly with now.
Care to explain?

Bums on seats= Tuiqiri, he will be a great buy for us and bring more people to our games, who knows he could even be the buy of the year. Even Lote in half his best form is still above average

Wests Tigers will be announcing the signing of Lote Tuqiri when this thread reaches 100 pages…

not long to go!

The whole forum thing is pointless in reality, however it helps keep us tragics from doing something silly as we count down the days…..

I just watched the highlights by NZ tiger again and Im thinking that Coach Sheens is going to have some real selection head aches this season....

Moltz did a heck of a job @ #1

Where will Lote and AJ start????

now thats the million dollar question right there.
im really 50/50 on if we should drop ryan as he did have a great 2nd half to the season, especially against the eels before he got injured. I also dont even know if we will see ayshford start with us this year as he only got selected due to injury but i hope he does start.

right now i see this being the most likely line up

1\. lote
2\. tuiaki
3\. aysh
4\. lawrence
5\. ryan
6\. benji
7\. taumata

14\. moltz

but what i want it to be is hits

1\. lote
2\. tuiaki
3\. ayshford
4\. lawrence
5\. tupou
6\. benji
7\. moltz

14\. taumata

1\. lote
2\. tuiaki
3\. ayshford
4\. lawrence
5\. tupou
6\. benji
7\. moltz

14\. taumata

yeah that works for me too, a pretty big backline too

Taumata will be the half back… Moltz will stay at FB for now. Lote will be on the wing for a while... but

I reckon you're on the money with that too Troy.

i hope im on the money to.. i dont think we can do any better in that area. I know people say Beau improved on the back end of the season but i am just not sold on him as a regular starter. We need someone fast and bigger on the side and i rekon LOTE is the perfect person for that.. and the way we play i think LOTE is better at Wing then Full back.

Can't agree more Troy. The only thing that would push myself to say fullback is the amount of money we are going to spend on this guy, only to stick him on the wing. But in terms of the best team to put on the park, it would be just as you said.

Also, will all these reports about Lote being half arsed in the UK, a lot of it would be because he is probably scared of injury at the moment with only a 6 month contract…

Sound reasoning considering the Tigers have a 3 year deal lined up for him.

Hmmm not sure about Moltz at 1\. He is awesome at 7.

Moltz is simply a better player at 7 than 1\. Anyone who suggests otherwise is deluded.
But if someone can step up and prove to be BETTER THAN Moltzen in the halves, then and ONLY then should he be pushed to fullback as a secondary shuffle. But either way, Moltzen is a key ingredient to the starting 13, some suggestions on here by people to slot him as the utility benchie is absolutely ridiculous.
That shuffle by Sheens last season by putting a half in Lui who is NOT better than Moltzen at the time, proved to be a costly error in judgement, and in turn wiped out the WT finals series hopes.
The key to the WT structure is to find a competent, classy, cool-headed half to partner Marshall and give the team a threatening dimension as 1st or 2nd receiver, which is more important to the success the WT play their brand of football. Sheens' search for a "ballplaying" fullback is not the priority IMO, Gallant at 1 and Moltzen at 7 proved that last year.
