lui is the future he wont be going anywhere soon crap defence or not. all the little guys get targeted, look at soward his defence is rubbish also.

Top post.

Lui does everything else right, but he HAS to address his defensive issues.

Plenty of halves have had this issue and still do. He'll come good eventually.

I love Lui. almost as much as I love perennial hateds Beau Ryan, Tim Moltzen and Matt Utai.

But man, he was a liability tonight - and despite his strength to score the try, didn't offer much else in attack.

sigh….

'spose one week in reggies couldn't hurt....

His effort is a major problem it looks like he is not really trying he just sticks his arm out ,he wont chase down players either ,Tim wont sack him but i reckon he is not up to first grade standard ,a very average half back ,Tim make him watch him self on replay 100 times and then ask him what he do wrong , cant tackle ,hopeless in attack i will tell you NO HEART

You're sort of right there Dreamers - I think it's definitely an effort/attitude thing. He can do it. He just doesn't.

But please, Lui is not a bad/average halfback - he's a bad/average defender.

Scott Prince couldnt and still cannot tackle.
Its nothing new
Id be happy giving Moltz a crack….wont happen tho while Lui's fit

lui was well contained tonight by the knights and it showed in his attack, they ran up on him and benji very well. their speed off the line was pretty good, very hard to counter that. as for the defence, well it can only improve i dont think it could get any worse.

Yep, I'm over him. Lui has to go. He's a liability.

I don't think we even need another halfback. Let Farah and Marshall run the show with Moltzen chiming in as another kicking option to take pressure off Benji occasionally. Play with an extra forward  .

No different in defence than any other game he's played.
He just doesn't know how to get in position to make a tackle.
Unless someone runs three steps directly into him he will back away and hope someone fills the hole.
The most infuriating thing is he never follows the play after he misses a tackle to see if he can at least try to fix it.
Once again everybody says give him another chance.
Forget saying other halfbacks can't tackle - he is the worst by a country mile and it his terrible defence that has cost us before and almost cost us tonight.

Like a few have stated, iv been a supporter of his, but theres no way we can carry that sort of defence he showed tonight. It was a mind blowing display. I watched him in the back play after every miss tackle and his confidence is shot. His defence has his head in a bad place and its now effecting his attack.

Golden, Jamie Soward can tackle

he doesnt need to tackl because he just stands back the entire time and lets benny boy Scott do all the work. same with his attack never takes the line on. Lui has a better future

Until Sheens makes the choice and replaces lui we will be average at best the top teams are going to eat Lui up, we all know that won't happen so performances like tonight will continue..

Soward has steered his team to two straight minor premierships (and looking like a third) and 1 premiership so far.
just how much better will Lui's future be???

He simply has to work hard on his defence. He showed at times he can hit well, but he has a tendency to get lazy and that's where he really comes undone. If you're going to miss a tackle, at least have the thought of mind to put the shoulder in and not let the arm hang out. I'm sure he knows it when the team do their video sessions.

Difficult one this, generally I like what I see when he has the ball in hand but as just about everyone else has said even for a little man his defense is poor.

The question is can he learn the skills to become a better defender?

By the way caught Miller's game in u/20's, wasn't his best performance but he does seem very capable in defense (given his size and inexperience).

lui has not played well for a month. cant tackle and must be the slowest halfback in the comp. knights plays were simple 2 to 3 plays one way then a switch to lui and the imbecile ryan side and they smashed us on that side. it was fair dinkum like 15 against 11 with us having twin liabilities in lui and ryan in the side. they both need to spend the rest of the season in state cup.

Last time I looked Soward played five eighth.
Lui has no future unless he learns to tackle.

Yep… time to go.

Had a decent first few rounds, but now sides now we have a massive weakness in his defence and it was no secret the knights targeted him ALL night! As does every side we play.

I don't think he can't tackle, we've all seen him put on some hits and tackle well at times when he commits. His biggest problem is his defence when our line is sliding. He has got to be the SLOWEST half-back of all time (i remember harping about this last year) and he has ZERO change of pace or direction. As soon as the attackers get him sliding, it's too easy to step inside him.

Gotta go...

Blokes like Soward and Walsh make up for their defensive flaws through their strengths. He nearly cost us the game tonight as did that fwit Beau Ryan
