Lui or Moltzen?

…umm, have you guys been watching Lui towards the end of last season and so far this season? He is playing like a quality halfback and he hasn't struggled with the transition from 5/8 one bit. Just look at the impact he made when he came back Friday night... and he's only still getting better.

Get real fella's.

I'm trying to see a new angle here that Moltzen was soo overhyped before his comeback that we expect miracles from him?
Nah it doesn't make sense.

Getting pretty sick of all these Moltzen threads.

Seems like I'm one of the minority here that backs Moltzen.

I can see the argument on both sides, but I on the basis of potential and results I'm inclined to go Moltzen's way.

The threads on Tim though are really getting to the point of a joke. Are we going to make one on his role in the meriton ad? Did he not show enough heart and acting prowess in the ad haha.

Lukic - your one of the smarter ones when it comes to this issue. He has a lot of talent and I reckon he will come good.

Halfback for mine. At another club it could be either of the halves positions.

He was highly touted junior prospect and junior Kangaroo for good reason. I too believe his best position is 5/8th, but he's like a guy such as Jarrod Mullen in the sense that whilst both a primarily 5/8ths and don't have the complete skillset of half, with extended periods in the position could make very good club level halfbacks.

With Benji in the form of his career, we need someone that will link with Benji rather than clash with him and Moltzen has a much great ability to do so with Lui. When Moltzen has played as a genuine first receiver (back end of 09, start of 2010) we played our most structured football. There was very little confusion and we were methodical. If you want to look at a more recent game, even though he didn't play the whole game at first receiver, the win against Souths was a good example. There was very little confusion and when we gained the ascendancy and momentum, we capitalised.

Right now, I don't want Moltzen playing halfback. He's been average since returning and he needs an extended stint it state cup in the 7 and Rob Lui, albeit not in my opinion the answer, has done nothing to warrant his non-selection in the position. Should however Lui not maintain his form, the Tigers continue to lose and Moltzen regains his confidence in state cup, then I'd be ready to make the switch.

No idea what they are on, but this is what I estimate they are getting at the moment, not what I would estimate they are worth if I was in charge.
Keep in mind i`m estimating the value of our top 34 players, I believe the Salary Cap is based on the Top 25 players therefore I believe my estimations would see us just fit under the cap.

This time last year I would have said. Moltz 80% Lui 20%

Its funny that a year later my opinion has done a complete 180.

If Lui is fit he's our half…

Lui answered this question on Friday Night…. BIG TIME!!!
At least when he wears 7 he plays at 7....
Moltzen is a Ball Runner 5/8, And despite what people think,
In most of the games he won at 7 this is where he primarily played!!
Lui is a god.... (well maybe not yet, But he is on the way) Sad thing is, When Moltz has moved on and Lui is starring....People will still remember the winning streak of 09 with Moltz IN not AT 7.
Get over it, Lui is turning the table and the naysayers with talent... NOT MEMORIES!!!

Insulting thread really.

Lui is a stand out 7 and Moltzens form does not warrant selection in firsts for mine.

When was the last time Moltzen had a blinder/man of the match perfrmance?

Even the memories before he did his knee are not that flash for me. He doesnt put his body on the line. I will always remember him letting Hayne charge onto the bomb that finished out 09 season. I also stuggle to get over the sitter he dropped on the line to give Easts the game on the siren at cambo.

The only positive memories I hold are generally off his good combo with Benji.

Lui gave one away??? You CAN'T be serious???
How did they get the first try again? Oh, I remember…. Moltz was holding Yow Yeahs Jumper while he took the ball and scored a try. And If you watched the game, (I was actually at it..) Both Moltz's trys Lui had big hands in... Could almost single handedly be given credit for ALL our points on Friday Night...

Niether of these guys are Great players

Both have potential and have different strengths and weaknesses.

For me we looked so much better with Lui back especially as Robbie and Benji somewhere else.

Only time and a stable squad on the field will breed the confidence that the Tigers need to play good footy.

I am not confident of a win against the Raiders this week.

Honestly think a lot of you think the sun shines from a certain section of Robert Lui's anatomy - blinding you from his attacking blunders and (really) poor defence.
Moltzen has been forced to play a different position every week - most of them not suited to him.
IMO Moltzen is a superior player and will make a better half - if he ever gets to play there consistently.
