Luke Brooks #167

I have never claimed to be a player / recruitment manager, I love all things Newcastle and hunt out info where I find it. I wanted to see if there was info here I hadn't heard. At our end it is now done.

Something doesn't add up.

If it was now done it would be registered at the NRL and announced.

Also would make zero sense Sheens commenting on the weekend saying he plans to start negotiations with Brooks in Jan and he wants Brooks to stay.

Hmm it's almost like @Tom Araya is a trolling knob who has demonstrated that he doesn't know his ass from his elbow....

Would be real interesting if Moses signs & Brooks extension is announced at the same time.

Some people on this forum will go into total melt down as it will mean 4 things

1) Brooks stays
2) Moses is back
3) AD isn't viewed as a 5/8th
4) Hastings isn't viewed as a halfback

I can tell you one thing for sure I won't be having a meltdown if any of those things happen.

My predictions are:-

1. Brooks is gonski. The question is do we let him go for next season or not.
2. We won't get Moses. I'm fine with this.
3. AD will play 6. I have no idea if he plays well or not.
4. Hastings will be gonski as well. The question is do we let him go for next season or not.
5. Klemmer signs with us. I don't think any other club will pay his salary.
6. Woods signs with us. I don't think any other club will offer him a contract.

--> I have no inside information. It's just a BS opinion.

I think the most likely scenario is:
- Brooks leaves for the Knights in 2024 (possibly 2023)
- We miss out on Moses and Brown
- AD is let go and flourishes somewhere else
- Hastings goes somewhere else and plays 7 (possibly Bulldogs)

I don't know where that leaves our halves situation in 2024. Sheens might be left to re-invent the wheel with another Johnny Cronk style signing to turn into a 7.

At this stage its hard not to think that will happen given our history.

All our halves leave whilst we are distracted looking at other options, those other options don't commit and we now have to blood some rookies or end up with a retirement contract player.

We got Will Smith……

Do you think we can develop Brooks into a top line 7 ?
He’s not even thinking of doing that.
He’s come out and said ‘If I have anything to do with it he’ll be the 7’.
He’s the bloody coach lol.. maybe he won’t have anything to do with it.
Same article says Hastings is going nowhere so that means he’ll still be doing half of Brooks job for him if Brooks does stay… and effectively plays five eight.
The reason?
Brooks is not, and never will be, a top level 7.
