Luke Brooks - Mega Thread

“I’m excited about staying here” is a lot different to “I’m excited about being here.”
Kudos to Brooksy for considering his options. Who wouldn’t?
When Brooks was presented with his own team, no it wasn’t Storm, Roosters or Panthers, it was Tigers. It’s like every year opening your Christmas present and thinking..oh, socks again 😂

Probably referring to his impending extension

🤔
Agree. In the absence of a great fullback happy to go for height. However Douehi isn’t the quickest and a fullback needs to be, so we’d have to see how he goes.
Remember the great fullbacks were not big eg Slater, Jack, Tedesco, Churchill, Hodgson 😊 Bigger guys that transition to fullback and excel there, like Turbo and Inglis, are generally the exception.
Yeh agree, games changed a bit though, defensive set up changed, more up and unders now on 5th, put it this way, if they kick high to the try line would you rather have ken, AD types competeing? Since 1968 since I've started following the game initially my fav fullback was the Wombat Graham Eadie - he wasn't tall, in recent times Greg Inglis.

I guess it's not about stats it's about what the team needs, take for instance, last night game. O'Sullivan's focused on the basics kicking to winger all game and his defence and they killed it

Brooks has always lacked that killer instinct to stick to a game plan and harass the opposition in attack. Let's them off easy too many times.
I’d say the coach and others weren’t happy with O’Sullivan’s imitation of the Nofa defence, which cost them points. He should have taken Foran. But solid effort by O’Sullivan.
It’s also about what the team does and the standards that are acceptable.
We will know more after this game, but from the trials it looks to me that Tigers are now buying in to being part of a team?

If Brooks had produced the same kicks, which he regularly does, everyone would be carrying on asking why he kicked high bombs to the tallest bloke on the field all night 🤷‍♂️

In fact I remember that exact complaint when we last played Manly.

The kicks to Saab where from their own half not close to line.

O'Sullivan's did well to take him out of the game.

Was chuckling as I read it too as it was exactly the same as you alluded to, execution of the game plan and all. Though to be fair, @tony soprano isn't a regular that attacks one, yet praise others for the same almost universally repeated across the competition bread and butter kicks.

To be fair if our blokes competed/chased Brooks kicks like the Panthers players do his kicking game would not look so ordinary. The difference in attitude was blatant.

100% which is also the reason for the Brooks bomb on the last that so many [This word has been automatically removed] about here. It is simply the strategy to let our chase get to the receiver as soon as possible after he catches it. Same as what Penrith do,

A team full of stars needs very little other than direction from a halfback. That’s what Brooks lacks.
