Luke Brooks - Mega Thread

Dunce cap your way sir....

How does a 20 year dynasty come from under a CEO who doesn't understand basic cap rules - so gets caught out grandstanding to the media about a non-executed letter of offer to a player he allowed the incompetent coach to drive away while under contract....?

(Along with our wannabe celebrity ambulance chasing suburban compensation lawyer pseudo-Chairman who personally intervened to ensure the retention of Nofoaluma)??

And you blame Brooks....
Feel that you missed the sarcasm that was dripping from that post.

This thread is gonna get bumped every game eh?

You’re never gonna see 1st grade starters push hard in trials. Tom Turbo was also very quiet, it’s not like he needed to show us what he’s made of against a Tigers team. They use it literally just for match fitness

Just ignore.....

The fact that the Axel Rose fan boy thinks Jason Taylor was a legitimate coach has destroyed any microscopic credibility he had prior to that ongoing brain fart

It’s Axl, not Axel. Maybe your memory is fuzzy, but they all left AFTER Taylor was sacked. Cleary had taken over by then. If Taylor was the reason they left, that timeline is a weird one then. And no, Im not defending Taylor, these are just facts. Common sense tells you they were done with this club, regardless of who the coach was.i

Did you sleep last night. In two short sentences, can you put together a simple post of what's on your mind, no big words now. 😰
I prefer to assume my audience are literate adults

Not a fanboy of white trash spandex rockers or parents who can't spell!!

Stop twisting the facts and re-writing history due to your unhealthy crush on the scarecrow!!

Taylor was let go weeks into the season when Pascoe finally realised that none of the players would stay under him and desperately tried to bring in Ivan as a lure to retain some of our talent - when they had already committed to other clubs!!

Any club or coach worth their salt would have had their extensions wrapped up before they came on the open market in November!!

Whatever dude, I’m not interested in getting into a debate over a coach who was sacked FIVE years ago. Last thing I will say is, his sacking really sky rocketed the club didn’t it. We’re pretty much in the same position 5 years later, if not worse. There is a correlation though between Taylor and Brooks in the sense that they have both been made scapegoats of a deeper problem. Sacking Taylor didn’t change things, and neither will moving Brooks on. Everyone will just move onto the next scapegoat.

Brooks is a competent NRL quality halfback!!

There is zero comparison with Taylor as he was utterly incompetent and needed to go!!

Unfortunately the CEO who backed him and then sacked him - who then got suspended and fined for an idiotic cap breach that was caused by Taylor pushing out Farah - and then got hoodwinked by his mate Ivan is the constant common denominator that has stopped this club from being successful in our core business of winning football games!!

I'm very well edumedicated thankyou 🤪
Just hard to read with a hangover, all those big words mean jack sh*t when what your saying is simple.
Good posts mate, just having fun.

Agreed.
Those running the club and sitting on the board are the problem and always have been.
I have no doubt that their primary interests lay outside of winning games of football.

Throwing madden, another rookie into the spine is madness. The issue with our spine now is nobody knows what it takes to win in the NRL.

I’d be all for getting rid of brooks if you got a Reynolds or a Cleary signed as a replacement. But you a just putting people there who aren’t ready for the sake of getting rid of brooks.

It’s a replay of binning sheens because he didn’t make the eight, then going through four coaches with very little success.

We got rid of Benji because everyone though brooks would be better for the team. after two games we are panicking and are going to hand the team over to Madden who has never played NRL or AD who has played about 150 minutes in the halves?

If you want brooks gone fine, but go to market and get him replaced by somebody you know will be better.
Absolutely. Madden tried hard yesterday and did a couple of good kicks, but he is not the answer. Why get rid of Brooks without a decent replacement - does not make sense.

Brooks is just an average player. Ability wise and game smarts wise. Teams that are successful nearly always have a halfback who is above average in both of these departments. The only glaring exception is the Broncos 2006 GF team that had Shane Perry at 7 (they had Lockyer at 6 though!).
Brooks is not solely to blame for all of our problems and shortcomings of the past 8-9 years or so, but he is a major part of it. He's just at that stagnant level now.
No doubt he could join another club and even play in a premiership, plenty of average 1st graders have won one. Can't see him elevating his overall skills much at our club, time to cut our losses and move on IMO. Fresh start for both player and club.
Hastings at 7, Douiehi 6 from 2023 onwards. And keep a keen eye out for halfback talent available in the meantime obviously, halves isn't a position a club can afford to be mediocre in if it wants any sort of success.

If we have to keep brooks I would player him at 9. Pick the ball up and pass. Or run if the markers are not there. Simple footy for a simple player. We need a change at 7. Madden / Hastings combo till Douhie is back - the king

the words of an ignorant twerp who doesn't know football!

Try to have an independent thought and not jump on the bandwagon with the lowest common denominator
It is an independent thought based on watching all 174 of Luke Brooks games for the Tigers. He'd be a competent NRL 5/8 outside of a good dominant organising halfback. As soon as the bloke has to make a decision that isn't just run the footy he stuffs it up. And his kicking game is pathetic.

As a halfback in the NRL he's not competent. Hence he's he holds the record of most club games without a finals appearance in the sport's history
