Dear recruitment department. More players with Brooksys attitude please and don't forget abit of talent too.

Brooks really is a loyal soldier.

With the big four nonsense he stuck around and again now despite being allegedly chased by other clubs decides to stay loyal.

Says a lot about the guy and I hope he sees a grand final victory in the Tigers Jersey.

Those snakes, rats and dogs(Tedesco, Moses, Woods) could learn a lot from this guy

I find that last paragraph very moving. Such loyalty !

It's interesting to speculate about what motivates players. When you consider Robbie, Benji, Rowdy and now Brooks (and others) - they love the club and want to achieve success for the club and with their mates.

Woods and Tedesco on the other hand felt no sense of loyalty toward the club; and Woods actively white-anted the club while our captain.

^^ I like the sounds of that last paragraph. Work hard to take our team to the finals. Don’t jump ship to join a team of stars & hitch a ride…

Good attitude to have!

Nofo being quite a significant other. He epitomises what is my favourite part of sport, passion for a club.

Yes when the going is hard it would be the easy thing to do to go for greener pastures..but will be all the more satisfying to continue the hard work and earn success..

We all deserve to be part of it..well said Luke..

No I’m not guessing about the back loading , just going on what it said in the report that I read when it was announced, if it is true then we have learnt bugger all.

What did the reporter say..?

“it was 0n a backended contract”

I found the article. It was written in the telegraph so as far as i am concerned it would be fiction.

Hehe, the same politically biased newspaper that trumpeted Turnbull, now hailing king Sco Mo … I don’t buy that rubbish paper anymore, always pushing their own agenda.
Always looking for news on the tigers in the offseason but not desperate enough for their fiction.

As could Seibold and Cleary and many many others, including clubs. Very sad modern reality that loyalty and your word mean very little.

Yes and lets see how important loyalty is to fans next year if Luke doesnt perform - can guarantee he wont be feeling the love for being loyal then.
Lack of percieved loyalty is an excuse to bag players when its convenient - but dont see loyalty figuring in fans mindset when your team is losing.
How will we ever lure a player from another club if they all remained loyal??
We offered Luke a good deal, he accepted good for him and good for us.
How long the warm and fuzzys last depends on how well he plays.

Well that’s true but I loved footy the best when the nucleus of you team was the same for a long time. I supported Balmain and our team in the late 80s we’re together for ages. Same with Canberra, Canterbury, parramatta as I remember. Nowadays you boo a bloke one week and next week he’s in your side. It’s called tribalism and rugby league was built on it. I know it’s a modern game etc etc but think we a poorer for it. (When the thought was Bennett was coming I was thinking: how can I support Darius Boyd?) I value and respect players like Lawrence, Nofa, Farah, Marshall and Brooks. I also respect club men from other clubs. But that’s just me.
Regarding bagging Brooks next year - yeah many will do it (regardless if his form) but I won’t.

You are right, those 2 guys deserve some success here, hope they get it

?? If I did half passed work at my job I'd be fired. That has nothing to do with loyalty. If he isn't doing his job then he gets sacked. Simple.

Well said i completely agree.

Good points, unfortunately the NRL don’t reward loyalty or development. I also followed Balmain and enjoyed the loyalty shown by our star players - some of them international players who wore the tigers jersey with pride and never considered a switch.
I think Luke Brooks was in his comfort zone here, we threw him a lifeline when he was on the ropes - however his choice to re-sign also showed his loyalty and pride in the jersey.

Brooks on current form is a better player than we can attract. The NRL will never value development as they want to take over all elite pathways. Clever teams that really don’t care about the game just their clubs are dominating Roosters, Sharks, Storm do very little in their areas with juniors.

Brooks will be fine!
The clubs in a good space right now.
He has no contract distractions.
And good heads around him like Hodgson, Madge and Marshall and Farah.
Reynolds who is the polar opposite from the Moses days and a decent pack up front.
If he tanks he tanks, but he deserves what he’s got from the club, he stayed when he could have left and that is loyalty!

If he takes us to the finals and one day to the big dance, he’ll go down as legend in my book.

I just read on news.com halfback rankings for 2018\. M.Moses came in 12th with the added baggage that he was shopped around and no club wanted him. Article says eels don’t want to renew his contract when it expires.
Meanwhile Brooks signs a multimillion 5 year deal and is developing into a well respected club hero.
As many have said - karma’s a [This word has been automatically removed]!

Dont disagree with you Steve. Followed Balmain too during that era when players came up through the juniors many as local boys, and never left. And thats the way I liked it.
Just a different game now, and to be successful it seems to be more about recruiting and retaining well - and often from outside your club. Loyalty is admirable for sure, but it wont necessarily make us successful. Glad Brooks extended, but if we are to find some success its his form that will ultimately be the key, rather than his loyalty, and the clubs ability to attract some quality players to support him.
