Anyone who thinks this guy is good enough must seriously be clutching at straws, or watching a different game.

"Brooks needs the forwards to go forward"

"Brooks will be better without Marshall in the team"

"Brooks and Reynolds will be better as Brooks can take control"

"Oh Brooks won the Dally M two years ago"

Enough is enough. This team is not going anywhere without a quality halfback and he IS NOT ONE!

I think Brooks is fine, he's not a match winner or a leader, he's a role player. You need those sorts of players. I'd take him over most halves in the game. The trouble is our expectations for him are too high. Most halves look good when the team is going well and don't look good when they're not and he's one of those. Very few players (Cam Smith, Cooper Cronk, DCE, Thurston, Benji, Shaun Johnson) are able to actually change the momentum of a game with their brilliance and he's definitely not one of them. But as for dumping him, who is his replacement out there? Where are you buying a better player from? It's frustrating watching him play badly in a match like tonight, but it's only a reflection of where this team was at in terms of organisation and attack. People flat footed, Grant doing circles, Reynolds doing three things at once and Brooks confused and a bit uncertain about what to do. It was ugly tonight, and so was his performance, but there's no better option and he's still better than most and not the problem in this team.

He's not a dominant half. We need a Maloney style half to complement him. If we can't get that player he will flounder.

Not a great game with a couple of 50/50 dropped balls, though I think the coach will give him a pass mark as he played to his instructions in carrying out the game plan and solid in defence. Those that don't like that should be aiming their anger elsewhere.

Grant played the full 80 and was very, very good,Reynolds played better than Benji did last week and will get better with games under his belt...
Brooks played poorly tonight after 7 seasons in first grade and still has no idea how to control the team and game...

You have to stop making excuses for him...he has to take responsibility for his performances ...he has had enough time ….

We have noone to organise and direct our team. Captain doesn do it. Hooker doesnt do it (he's had 2 games with us, he shouldnt be expected to yet).

Really its the job of our halfback. But Brooks doesn't/cant. We need a half that can. I say replace him with Sezer, go from there.

Post of the year !

It doesn’t matter who partners Brooks ..
Brooks is the weak link in the halves ..
Needs to be punted !

3 things in life... Death,Taxes & an average game from Luke Brooks.
I've been saying this year in and year out. Ever since he cemented his spot. What you see every week is the best Brooks can produce. He will always be an average half at best. I wished he asked for a release and went to England.

Sorry but your number 7 is not a role player.

Your number 7 should be controlling the team, leading the team and yes, he should be a match winner.

A halfback is not a role player, it's a key position in the team.

He just doesn't have it.

If Brooks were to retire and take his cash owed and kick back and snort coke he really could be the next Joey Johns .

So Brooks is the new Jennings now...
The 7 can be a role player. Sezer lastcyear was a role player in the Raiders team last year same as Townsend for Sharks.
Hindsiggt is a wonderful thing but looks like we let the wrong half go in Moses

We need an organiser, we don’t have one at the moment. Nobody is directing the team around. I don’t see a lot of talk and communications out there in attack.

I just have trouble seeing past Brook’s time in the team and his growth as a player. He’s grown sure but just not hitting the mark for maturity given what has been made clear to him by the coach in terms of owning the team and making good decisions in critical moments. I’ve tried to give him a fair go but I just don’t think he has it and we will continue our inconsistency while he is our 1st choice half. Trouble is, what is the alternative?

Okay, you taking ash taylor? Mitchell Pearce? Chad Townsend? Brodie Croft? Jake Clifford? Blake Green? Ryley Jacks? Kyle Flanagan? Lachlan Lewis? Ben Hunt? Adam Clune?

It's not that brooks is worlds better than those players and he's a class below the elite players (which sadly seems to now include Mitchell Moses) but you're not going to get better play out of an available player out there and there's a lot of solid but unspectacular halves out there. I'd take Moses, Cleary, DCE, Keary, George Williams and maybe Milford before him, but that's no insult to Brooks that he's a middle of the pack halfback. I'd also agree that its disappointing that he hasn't gotten better. he really took a step under Cleary defensively, but never became the dominant attacking player he was capable of being.

That’s what happens when your highest paid players are not match winners. The best thing that could happen is for Ivan’s signings to fade off into oblivion and give us the cash to spend on the players that can win games.

Moses walked
Brooks was desperate as no other club would take him
If Jennings was a half he’d be luke Brooks
