mixed bag. if this keeps up I can't see him being our halfback in the next few weeks let alone the next few years

Brooks has had 4 try assists in 2 years
I know this season isn’t over yet but ............................

The dude who set the first try , is the guy I see . I don’t even remember, the last time I saw brooks kick it out on the full .

He put us away on the left a couple of times , only for the last past to go astray , or something diabolical to happen . He had a one on one strip , a forced knock on from a kick and 2 more almosts.
Where he let us down , was allowing these bozos in the team like garner to shift us away from the game plan , especially when it was obvious we were not getting squat from the ref .

But brooks wasn’t the reason we lost . We lost because of bad passes , drop ball , miracle plays , and generally mentally removing ourselves from the grind , especially in that 40-50 minute period . They scored their first try via a ricochet, and another a dropped ball from an opportunity for us to score at the other end .
Luke wasn’t the one who left his fullback to tackle a 120kg front rower 1 on 1 at the line , nor was he the one who was run over , and allowed their lock to go through.

But his kick out on the full , after going down 12 -6 was beyond dismal , and should not have happened . His 2 mis kicks in the first half , weren’t good enough either . But of the people that played today , he’s nowhere near one of the guys I’m most looking at for that result.

They said this was Brooks' year to shine now that Benji was gone.

All I saw today was a bloke that has nobody left to hide behind.

Ok i give luke the benefit again but boy is he under the spotlight now over the next few weeks as to his kicking game and organisation

Brooks kicking game put us on the back foot all game
He just SUCKS!

His general kicking game really let us down today and we just played far too flat in attack which is not the way to play for guys like Joey, JTJ and Laurie (to a lesser extent) who do their best work coming off a deep backline.

Defensively he's good but the general kicking is very poor. If he doesn't fix this up quick smart he may find himself behind Madden.

I can’t think of to many other teams he whould make at nrl level

There are none. He’s too much of a liability.

Luke Brooks reminds me of Ben Hunt doesn’t have the temperament of a first grade halfback. Doesn’t read the game and just plays fast without a plan.

I’d reserve judgement after 6 weeks but our forwards were tough, refs killed us off with calls and we ran out of gas.

He wasn’t Robinson Crusoe Kepoa, Garner, Liddle were abysmal.

That’s about right. I’d probably add we looked lost in the second half where someone needed to guide us.

He doesn’t have many games to prove he’s not man of steel quality

I think Brooks is fine, he's not a match winner or a leader, he's a role player. You need those sorts of players. I'd take him over most halves in the game. The trouble is our expectations for him are too high. Most halves look good when the team is going well and don't look good when they're not and he's one of those. Very few players (Cam Smith, Cooper Cronk, DCE, Thurston, Benji, Shaun Johnson) are able to actually change the momentum of a game with their brilliance and he's definitely not one of them. But as for dumping him, who is his replacement out there? Where are you buying a better player from? It's frustrating watching him play badly in a match like tonight, but it's only a reflection of where this team was at in terms of organisation and attack. People flat footed, Grant doing circles, Reynolds doing three things at once and Brooks confused and a bit uncertain about what to do. It was ugly tonight, and so was his performance, but there's no better option and he's still better than most and not the problem in this team.

He has been confused and uncertain for 8 years. He should go together with JL Garner, Liddle, the left side winger , Mbye.

If you go back and read the very early posts on Brooks u realise that absoultely nothing has changed....this guy will never LEAD us anywhere tbh...no better nor worse than Flanagan, but has been given 7 years to work thru it
Way it is
We need better.
Hopefully Douhi will provide some direction, but Brooks and Mbye are 2 of the highest paid players at WT and thats their job description surely?
As for the kick into opponents arms when we were just getting on top...and the kick out on the full to start the 2nd half...both potential gamechangers

Classic strongee. Stay true.
There aren’t many of you left.

Did I imagine that ? Or the strong defence or the line breaks down the left , or the half chances . His kicking is super annoying though . How can a guy who slots them from the sideline , be so all over the place with his accuracy in general play . I don’t know the answer to that . But I’m not blaming the lack of ball to the backs on him . He was trying to play at the ad line off fast play the balls , to engage defenders . It just didn’t work and we needed to shift gears . Which he didn’t do . The ball didn’t get to the edges on the right ever , and really that means the second receiver wasn’t doing his job .

It looks like the good defences see Mbye as a passenger , the just hold off him. I have no idea how we use him , as I think AD being second receiver is much better for the team as a whole . I don’t ever remember Laurie running from a head start at a sliding defence either . It looked very different to the trials .
