Speaking ahead of Sunday afternoon’s blockbuster Manly vs Parramatta game, which can be seen on sports streaming service Kayo, Moses condemned the relentless media criticism which has been directed at Brooks this season.
“It was really unwarranted, to be honest,” Moses said.

“You’ve got to expect the criticism I guess, when you play halfback in a first-grade side … when your team’s losing, all the criticism goes to you.

“But I think it was really unwarranted. It’s a team effort, and for all the pressure to go on him was pretty stupid.

“The footy he played on the weekend was outstanding — he was probably one of the best players over the weekend. He controlled the game and took the line on offer.

Fancy Moses putting his 2 cents in lol

The Brooks hate is reaching insane proportions when you merely post a somewhat positive article about Brooks written by someone else that paints him in a good light and you get two downvotes!?!?!

Got a new Brooks poster for above your bed yet ....

There is more than one type of successful halfback.
If you only have 2 or 3 good attacking players on your team they are easily marked.
If your forwards don't win the ruck or make metres, your halves and backs will have no time or space.

There is a difference between defending someone against unreasonable attacks and thinking they are the best player in the game.

Foregoing your biggest strength was / is madness ....and I've said it for 2 years now

Amazing when Brooks ran early and used his near top speed and hit the middle 3rd what a difference it made .....

Running is great if you have support for a break or a half break, but Brooks is the only reliable support player we have. He is following a game plan, which looks to me like controlling the middle, calling the plays, getting the ball to Laurie or Mbye/Doueihi and supporting up the middle.
I think expecting to him to fill those roles and make the breaks is unrealistic and why we have other attacking players. He should still run, but maybe 5-10% of the time.

Also Doueihi is a running 5/8 so Brooks would run less when paired with him and more when paired with a ball playing 5/8 like Mbye.

No doubt last weekend was Brook's best game in a while. I managed to tune in late, first thing I saw was Brooks shape to pass, decide not to pass, shape to run at the line, realise there's no way through, run around in a little circle, then go back the line and submit.
Then I saw him do it again later.
I must say that I'm glad he didn't force the pass when it wasn't on like he has often done in the past, but those little run in circle things while he's trying to decide what the heck to try just do my head in!

Mbye is a runner more so than a ball player....
He's not a well rounded footballer.

More suited to athletics.
Can't wait till he's off our books.

It can be hard to tell on the internet when someone genuinely does not understand something and when someone is pretending not to understand just to frustrate others into name calling so they get banned.

Mbye IMO has the best natural pass in the team. Just havent seen it enough. The ball to Talau to set up Brooks try was a perfect example. That is not a nothing pass and it was not a set play. To simply look up, see the gap, identify that Talau has seen it and drift and pass out in front for him to run onto the ball precisely in the hole was perfection made to look easy.

I can just see the Brooks haters with their faces screwed up in rage bashing the thumbs down.

Mbye a ball player ....are you kidding ...lol ....Mbye is a running half as well

Jack whiten and Doueihi are big guys that can smash through the line.

Yeah but you said Mbye is a ball player ..he isn't ..don't change the subject

He is, that is what he was doing engaging the line and putting players into holes.

I know I will upset some on here BUT,Moses is a very good play maker that has been used and abused because the club ICON that was welcomed back with open arms was given everything he WANTED...if the coaches used Mbye in the halves with Brooks we would be talking finals a lot longer than now...Call me what you like, abuse me if you must, but taking Benji back was the worst thing this club has done....by a country mile..whats more I care little how he goes at Souths,he is their problem NOW...

Congrats to him though. He now has 1 highlight from his time here. He can put it on a loop while he desperately begs other clubs to give him a lifeline.

There is no doubt taking Benji back was a fiasco but i am not so sure M'Bye would have been much better.

Ballplayer is not a rank or award.

5/8s are called a particular style because that part of their game is stronger then other parts. Mbye's vision and passing are the strongest parts of his game. Doueihi and Jack Whiten run like 2nd rowers but can also pass and kick. Jerome Lui, 2005 Benji Marshall and 2014 Shaun Johnson were fast and elusive and can pass and kick. Others are allrounders that could play 6 or 7.

I am not sure if there is a definition in a text book, but that is my understanding from watching the game and listening to the ex-players commentating.
