I’m a big critic of Brooks but I thought he was quite good yesterday. The problem more was our backs are too slow and our forwards got rogered.

He tried hard yesterday but his kicking game sucked compared to previous weeks ..

Definitely wasn't as good as other weeks, few were too deep or too short.

Mbye seems to be the key to Brooks.

Maybe because Mbye is a half decent 5/8 as I have said get a top shelf 6 and Brooks can shine . Its the 3/4/6 that's the problem !

So maybe we shouldn’t rush pushing Mbye out the door? Yes, he is expensive, but unless we can get better he should see out his contract.

Hes on $800k or something ridiculous like that next year..his final contract year.
To exit him,we'd have to pick up half of that in all probability, like Reynolds and DWZ...so the key question is can we pick up someone to replace him for around $400k....?
The answer,in the current market,is probably NO
The fact that both SOO teams fielded non centres in the 3 and 4 last Wed nite suggests theres a dearth of quality centres around, let alone available to the market
So given Tommy T is not cutting it in the centres , I think Mbye and WTs are stuck with each other for next year..unless someone wants to pay close to full freight

I thought Brooks was our best player. Moses was really good but he can play.

He was good but his kicking game last night was the “old brooks”. Bombs weren’t high enough or long enough to give us any chance.

It was a result of our pack getting bashed / intimidated by a top 4 team, the last month we’ve been getting over the top in the forwards, I don’t think there was a lot that could have been done in yesterday’s circus

Swap the halves from both teams and it’s a similar result

His bombs in the opposition twenty that weren’t high enough or long enough has nothing to do with the forwards, it’s all on him. Those kicks were very disappointing.

I didn't see this. Those bombs were well placed. The issue is that Waqa Blake really attacked them.

We must have been watching different games.

Every bomb was way too short. Brooks is not sharp enough with his skills at all.

Brooks had no options with most of those kicks, we were not going forward, and they were to get us out of our end zone. Our forwards did not set a platform, he was playing defence most of the game.

When we are 20metres out and he can’t put a bomb to land on their try line then that’s a massive problem. He did it multiple times and didn’t let us build pressure. His kicking game has been fantastic lately but last night it was back to normal.

Brooks has been excellent for a while now. As the team gets better players he will be fairly judged. Not saying he is leading us to a title but whether you rate him or not he’s one of our best players. I’m happy with his recent form.

Hastings or Junior Pearce as another half will make a huge difference. Douhiei who I liked at 6 is a better centre and it’s not close.

I have said this before in regards to those midfield bombs - the difference between a rubbish kick and a great kick is the quality of the chase. What potentially looks ordinary is all of a sudden “genius” when one of your players snatch it out of the oppositions hands. When Luc or Doueihi had a crack the commentators were sprouting how well placed the kick was! A bit more effort and desperation to get to the kicks would certainly help, as would the same effort in D to pressure the opposition kickers when they have the ball.

Do you think we win if Moses plays for us?

No chance. Moses was very good in a team where his forwards were on top. I think Brooks is just as good as Moses and he is much more likable.

Moses is a far better player. He is also a far bigger d**khead.

I agree with the second part but not the first. He can play but he tends to be a flat track bully. Brooks is pretty good. He just cops it because the team have been so bad. Put it this way Moses is not a consistent player. Brooks isn't either.

We should have kept him but you know what makes it worse. Ivan judged Josh Reynolds as offering more to the club than Mitch Moses.

Moses is a competitor....

We hate him cos he plays for another team but we'd all love him if he was a tiger.

I think he's absorbed the Parra culture and will now be a career long choker.

But it's a real shame, we couldn't see those two guys swap positions and really shine I'd say.

Moses is now (arguably) the most disliked former player.

Turdesco will always be no 1 hated player for mine. He got offered the world and still ran away. He was always looking to run away and he was a crying little sook. Great player but you'd never let him take your back if you needed support.

Aloiai and Matterson just left for money. Players will do that. I think Moses was a little hard done by in that he is so full of himself and he was told he wasn't wanted.

The Roosters gave Pearce the flick because they couldn’t see him leading them to the title…. even with a good team around him.
No way he leads us to one.
You’re right regarding Brooks- he won’t lead us to one either.
Only difference is we are not ruthless about winning so keep him here.

I think Brooks has been outstanding in the last three to four weeks. He is playing some of the best football I have seen him play in awhile and with the right team around him, I have no doubt that he could lead us to a premiership.
With addition of big Ken on the wing, Jimmy back to center and Maybe back at 5/8 for the Storm, I would not right us off on this one.
The forwards are growing in confidence and personally getting used to NRL, we have a very young forward pack.
I can see nothing but upside to this team, a new Pommy center, Hastings, what ever position he plays in, and the experience our young guys are getting. I can see a premiership in this side a few years and I say that for the first time for 10 years

Brooks is playing great footy. He could easily be a half back in a team that wins the comp. I don't think he is good enough to lead us to the finals without a quality team around him. Tedesco isn't that good. Tommy Turbo might not be that good.

The game vs Parra was the first game in a while that Brooks didn't look good. He was just okay. His kicks weren't as pinpoint and he didn't put his outside men in space as often. I put this down to the Parra defence. They rushed up hard and gave our playmakers no time. Our forwards very rarely crossed the advantage line. Due to this, Parra were able to rush us for a long period of the game without fatiguing.

The coaching staff and Brooks himself need to come up with some creative ways out of this. The top teams quite often find themselves in this situation and have ways to get out of it. E.g. Munster kicking to JAC early in a tackle count, or Penrith setting up a long shift to get Kikau one-on-one with a half. I see us trying to offload our way out of that situation. It is the right move, but opposition defences are alert to it. We offload quite a bit, but they seem to go nowhere. Someone is always sweating on the player receiving the ball.

Pure and simple Brooks had less time so his accuracy and timing was off, because our forwards were getting rolled.

Agreed but also we expose ourselves a bit by the whole “this is now Brooks’ team”. With Mbye (and Walters) playing less a role by design than AD, Brooks becomes the focal point and opposition teams can rush him - some players are good enough to overcome this but not sure he is yet.
