For my fellow Brooks haters, I believe this is the best case scenario leading into the future. Brooks undoubtedly starts the year in the halves but is under the microscope early. He has a couple stinkers early and due to the hopeful continuation of KOE cup, someone like Madden is Brought in as Maguire will be feeling the heat too because someone in such an important position not playing to scratch, effects his job too. Brooks has a year in and out of first grade and in and out of the starting side, much like Milford at Brisbane this year and the club negotiate for him to leave the club with one year to go.

Sad reality is the club simply won’t cover what could be more than half his salary for him to play at another team for 2 years and as much as I’d like him gone ASAP, I’ve come to terms that he will be with us all of next season

So you are hoping he plays poorly?

Going off recent history, I feel that's a sure thing...

It's weird. Brooks playing in general is Brooks playing poorly, because how Brooks plays is one dimensional. He gives it his all I'm sure, but he just doesn't have it. Like I generally don't think he has this extra level everyone thinks he has. I think it's the biggest myth in the NRL.

I would really like to pick the brains of someone who thinks Brooks is a great player...

Brooks had a good 2 months midseason where he could have racked up some points.

Apparently cause he was rubbish in round 25 that none of that matters . And he was rubbish no doubt about it , but go back and check the 3,2,1 on this site and you’ll notice his name was everywhere from about round 5 through 22.

I’m not defending him , he shouldn’t have got it , it should have been AD , but if it is a points accumulation, which it is , then by the forums very own metric , he would have been up there . It more points out how the 3,2,1 system is outdated .

I'm not saying he should have got it either, but I can understand how it happened when you look how this season played out.

He had some good games this past season, my point though was more that I can't wish that anyone in our team plays poorly.

Brooks is such a puzzle eh.
He isn't very good but has been afforded every opportunity to..*. be good.*

Bet you were disappointed in that final game VS Bulldogs when almost everyone played poorly.

I was heart broken in that game, I really hate to end a season in that manner.

If we are to have s successful year next year, we need our most senior players to play well, which includes brooks.

I think 2021 was the year made gave full control to brooks and it didn't work. I don't think he's a natural game controlling 7 or leader. Benji has said publicly he thinks brooks is a 6 not a 7.

He should be playing 6 while AD is injured, then move to 14

I am not going to hope he plays poorly, that is like hoping we lose games. I'm not made up that way.

I get that you’re not mate but that’s just not being realistic. Brooks can not be apart of this rebuild, he just can’t. What example is he setting for the young up and comers ?

If you want it so black and white, yes I want him to play poorly because I don’t want him at the club. I wouldn’t say it’s like wanting to lose games because this is a team sport. A team which Brooks has contributed very little in such a large amount of time

Brooks to 6 needs to happen. Give him until Doueihi is back to prove himself. If it doesn't work out, then it will be time for him to move on.

I tend do agree with he isn't very good (nor do i think he is particularly bad, about average imo).
But i have to disagree he has been afforded every opportunity to be good. He has never played behind a dominant pack, never had a strong defender beside him to reduce his workload and never had a star outside back outside him that he can simply give early ball to and they create their own attacking opportunity. Simply put he has never had the opportunity to be good.

What did you notice through the season that told you it didn’t work with him as a controlling half?
What is the job you saw him asked to do exactly?

Combinations. I don’t believe he has had a regular wing / centre / 2nd row combo since Richards, Lawerence and Fulton played alongside him.
