For my fellow Brooks haters, I believe this is the best case scenario leading into the future. Brooks undoubtedly starts the year in the halves but is under the microscope early. He has a couple stinkers early and due to the hopeful continuation of KOE cup, someone like Madden is Brought in as Maguire will be feeling the heat too because someone in such an important position not playing to scratch, effects his job too. Brooks has a year in and out of first grade and in and out of the starting side, much like Milford at Brisbane this year and the club negotiate for him to leave the club with one year to go.

Sad reality is the club simply won’t cover what could be more than half his salary for him to play at another team for 2 years and as much as I’d like him gone ASAP, I’ve come to terms that he will be with us all of next season

So you are hoping he plays poorly?

Going off recent history, I feel that's a sure thing...

He had some good games this past season, my point though was more that I can't wish that anyone in our team plays poorly.

Yeah, I feel it.

Brooks is such a puzzle eh.
He isn't very good but has been afforded every opportunity to..*. be good.*

Bet you were disappointed in that final game VS Bulldogs when almost everyone played poorly.

Did you mean to say Brooks is a puddle or puzzle .....???

Needed a few years in Q cup to learn the game.
That's where the true King halves are forged.

‘Absolutely baffled’: Player unrest after Brooks pips Doueihi for Tigers’ player of the year
Staff Writers from Fox Sports
October 11th, 2021 11:09 am

There is unrest in the Tigers playing group after Luke Brooks inexplicably beat Adam Doueihi for the club’s 2021 player of the year award in a confounding decision from the club.

The Daily Telegraph reported Tigers players were blowing up after a three-man panel awarded Brooks the best player of the season ahead of clear favourite Doueihi.

“It is a really interesting one and Michael Maguire, Adam Hartigan and board member Danny Stapleton vote for the player of the year,” Rothfield said on The Big Sports Breakfast.

“Luke Brooks had a fair season. I had a look at the Dally M’s and he got 12 points.

“But Adam Doueihi I think was the most obvious player of the year at any of the 16 clubs.

“He was so superior to any other player at that club. Maybe Daine Laurie was a reasonably close second.

“Doueihi got 20 points in the Dally M votes. He finished eighth in the entire NRL while playing in a fairly ordinary football side.

“And there are players there asking questions. How did Luke Brooks win? And that’s not good for team harmony when players are asking questions like that.

“It is just another really weird decision the Wests Tigers have made.”

Brooks did finish first in try assists at the Tigers with 23 to go with five linebreaks, 45 tackle busts and a try in 24 games 2021.

However Doueihi played four fewer games due to injury and still had 16 try assists, nine linebreaks, 50 tackle busts, nine tries and 69 goals for a tally of 174 points.

Rothfield revealed the players were in shock that Doueihi was not given the award, which seemed so straightforward given his exploits in 2021.

“I spoke to a player manager over the weekend, who has a couple of players at the Wests Tigers and he said most of the group are absolutely baffled about the fact that Adam Doueihi didn’t get the award and Luke Brooks did,” Rothfield said.

“That’s where I got my information and I checked it out with the Wests Tigers yesterday and there was certainly no denials there.”

Laurie Daley agreed that Doueihi’s was the Tigers most consistent player in 2021 by a decent margin.

“I thought Adam Doueihi was their best player,” Daley said.

“I think he was the standout for sure.

“Luke Brooks for me was OK this season and had his moments.

“But being consistent I thought that Adam Doueihi was by far and away their best.”

Looks like Slothfield has found the keys to the cleaners methylated spirits locker again.i agree Brooks was not our best performer all year but this 'article" is just an agenda driven hatchet job

I tend do agree with he isn't very good (nor do i think he is particularly bad, about average imo).
But i have to disagree he has been afforded every opportunity to be good. He has never played behind a dominant pack, never had a strong defender beside him to reduce his workload and never had a star outside back outside him that he can simply give early ball to and they create their own attacking opportunity. Simply put he has never had the opportunity to be good.

Combinations. I don’t believe he has had a regular wing / centre / 2nd row combo since Richards, Lawerence and Fulton played alongside him.

He has probably had about 10+ different 5/8's next to him alone throughout his career and 5 coaches. Stability has no doubt been a massive factor however not sure a valid excuse either.

Solid sourcing there Buzz ..
The club is doing everything they can to try stop Brooks from leaving. Even if it means giving a meaningless award.

I remember at work they got the whole team together to see what people wanted to be rewarded with. Out of a team of about 50 people 2 people wanted public recognition like player of the year awards. The vast majority wanted more money.

Woo-hoo we have a new boys club! If ad and his crew are not happy they will go to the press.
If this is true that's how it reads...

To be honest i think it is more likely the analist Slothfield trying to cause dissension in our club.Perhaps his drinking buddy Flanagan didn't do as well as he would like at the interview and he is trying to push his cart

Of course its BS
Old buzz got a bucketful ?

‘Absolutely baffled’: Player unrest after Brooks pips Doueihi for Tigers’ player of the year

Luke Brooks did get unleashed this year though ..
I guarantee players don't give a f*** about awards like this lol .. Half of them dont even care about getting Dally M awards.

I remember at work they got the whole team together to see what people wanted to be rewarded with. Out of a team of about 50 people 2 people wanted public recognition like player of the year awards. The vast majority wanted more money.

Ah yes the player manager .. The most honest people in the game. I'm sure these blokes are gonna need an upgrade to their contracts because they're so baffled and unrested.
