You put Brooks in one of the top teams like Storm or Roosters & you will see the difference he is not the problem.

Brooks is on par with Brodie Croft… he would have been punted.

Let's not be silly now. Brodie Croft is another thing entirely.

Come on ... looking at them they could almost be brothers.
I put Brooksy between him and the non performing Ash Taylor.

The thing is though, if the club was to move him on, Brooks would get another gig. Croft hasn’t.

And Brooks would have Half a dozen clubs after him if he did leave - The afore mentioned players don't / wouldn't / Didn't

Well, maybe Newcastle would want him if Pearce goes ... and maybe the Bulldogs.
You're wrong about the other two.
Croft was given another chance at Brisbane after Melbourne didn't want him. Taylor was poached from Brisbane to the Titans.
Both failed.
If someone was silly enough to take Brooks they'd get the same result.
What you see is what you get... he's not going to play any differently no matter where he goes.
Just wish he wasn't stinking up our team.

But you see how the top sides operate with the decisions of the Roosters with Flanagan and the Storm with Croft

They don't cut it and are unsuitable ...and they are gone quick smart .....

We need to take something from that .....too many players are given far too long to make it here

Croft and Flanagan wish they could have games like Brooks. They are not appropriate comparisons. Not saying Luke is anything above average but he is a whole level above those two. I think he's not reached the levels wer want due to coaching, self-confidence and the roster around him. Ivan got the talent out of him.

You have missed the entire point

The Roosters or Storm wouldn't keep the leading play maker if they couldn't lead them to the finals for 8 seasons .....

Roosters or Storm dont rely on one bloke. Roosters or Storm wouldnt keep the leading play maker......if they had already built the team around them. Apples and persimmons.

You don't think the Storm could recognize the link between no finals for 8 seasons and the halve being there 8 seasons .....

Firstly, obviously Roosters & Storm never get themselves in the position to miss 8 years of finals, but its not because the cut the 7 early and replace him. Its because they build a great team and THEN if the 7 isnt cutting it in this perfect environment they act fast to replace that important piece in the puzzle.

Our puzzle has had the box shaken and half a dozen pieces are missing.

His box has been rolled down mt everest ...and one of his ex coaches ***conquered it with Sherpas Kikau , Luai , Yeo etc***

arent you kinda proving my point?

We will never attract those Sherpas .....ours get squashed by Glaciers because they can't move fast enough ....are petrified by the eggshells laid by the fearsome Nepalese Chicken .....get lost in non existant snow storms .....and their fans groans create avalanches that bury the rest .....the rest complain of frostbite and then join climbing parties who will easy climb Everest ......

@Geo ...we were talking about Redcliffe possibly recruiting Brooks for 2023 ...that is entirely possible ......

@Tigers5150 I didn't want to reply in the other thread. I think Brooks and Hastings could complement each other well, if Hastings is the halfback. Hastings is a great organiser but some people criticise his lack of speed. Brooks is not a great organiser, but he is a good runner.

Yep pretty much my point, but if we kick Brooks off the mountain somehow it will all turn around.

Does Brooks have the mental strength to climb over the past 8 seasons ....whether we atrract the right talent .....the bloke tries his guts out ......but has fallen at some big hurdles the last 3-4 seasons .....

It could work and I'd be rapt but the other piece in that puzzle is AD. If Hastings does set the world on fire as an organising 7, then we have the choice of Brooks at 6 with his positives (there are some, speed, a kicking game) or the choice of the bigger body and arguably a better long passing game in AD.

Anyone who thinks this guy is good enough must seriously be clutching at straws, or watching a different game.

"Brooks needs the forwards to go forward"

"Brooks will be better without Marshall in the team"

"Brooks and Reynolds will be better as Brooks can take control"

"Oh Brooks won the Dally M two years ago"

Enough is enough. This team is not going anywhere without a quality halfback and he IS NOT ONE!

Yes, the teams only issue was and ever will be luke Brooks.

I think I'll back sheens over some forum poster that basks in the glory of his likes.

If you opened your eyes and your mind, you'd realise Brooks isn't our saviour lord jesus christ.

In fact, he is a perfect reflection of how poor the club has been over the past 10 years.

It's a team sport it's not tennis, while some obsessed about Luke Brooks.

Again you call for his sacking but who is this messiah who will come in part the seas and walk this team through the seas to the promise lands we will seek.?

Who?

Ow.

More problems and negativity and throw all our problems at the one person.

Whether it’s a product of our culture, coaching, lack of skill, team mates or all of the above, there is no denying that he is well entrenched in the competitions bottom rankings for halves.
When we are in the oppositions 20 and on the attack, I cringe when he gets the ball. He takes the wrong option almost every time and whenever he gets it correct, his execution is usually lacking. Doueihi and Laurie are our go to men in this zone and when they are not there, we look unlikely to score.
The reason a lot are looking forward to Hastings arrival is due to his strengths in organising play. He is not afraid to get stuck in and tell a teammate that they are not pulling weight. In time, he has it in him to be a leader. With AD also honing these skills, things may improve as early as next year…

I thought he was doing OK until he suggested Tigers needed Benji Marshall back, or Chad Townsend.

And then he says Tigers are insane for doing the same thing over and over, not making any changes, before listing the new halfback we bought from UK. Sort of torpedoes his own argument.

He could have just said "get rid of Brooks because he has never been successful" and be done with the rest of the paragraphs.

This is a very interesting read… Brooks might still go.

Couldn't agree more with this article

But the media told me it's a good idea.

10 Years....
A lot better Players than Brooks and Squads this side has had in 22 Years to only make the Finals 3 Times.

- Couldn't make the finals with almost the same squad that we won the comp with in the very next year... In fact - It took us another 5.

Yep - Lets Blame Brooks.
Anyone Blaming Brooks, Is just running out of people to Blame.

I will say something relatively positive. At least there’s something worth discussing in this thread the last day or two with the Newcastle talk and the Sheens statement. Unlike the last month, when it was dead, yet the desperate’s insisted on spamming the thread just to keep the topic alive.

Interesting that you say this when it has been abundantly clear that these desperates you speak of haven’t posted on here since Friday night. They are sick of it more than any of you are.

Not a single fan blamed Brooks when we failed to make the finals between 2006 and 2009.
Can you guess why?

I don't blame Brooks. Our lack of success is a collaborative failure in many areas. Unfortunately next to the coach he is the next best and easiest target. It looks like another tough year again coming up, not sure how that can be positive for us or him.
