Wow can’t believe people are bashing Madge like that, it’s round 4 two weeks after a pandemic.
He hasn’t even got the team he wants yet, he’s got dead wood players here who he inherited still here.
He has changed our attitude, he just needs to change our attitude that we need to fully punish the teams below us. We actually do alright against teams above.

Let’s see how we perform the next game, I believe our mongrel will change after Madge rips into them

Adam O’Brien hasn’t got the team he wants at Newcastle but he’s seemingly achieved in one offseason what Madge couldn’t in 1.5 years.

He has a much better roster though

A lot better roster

This is the same as the bulldogs last year they were bottom of table and we lost to them 2x, it's inexcusable to lose to a team that made so many changes and had not won in a year and our team had nil changes from a good win the week prior. Rotation is the key to this side to give our roster a hungry attitude as your position is not a given each week its how you train and play prior.

Jennings is not a 1st grader based upon that performance, Bring in Tommy T, as i don't think Corey is the answer as well as he is not great under the high ball.

Benji great Tigers stalwart but at 35 and can't tackle effectively make this his last year. Why was he the Goal kicker again after 2/5 when he misses the more difficult shots on goal and only kicks the easy ones? (Coach???)

Mybe question his value signed as a fullback on great coin and could not hold down his preferred position and plays centre, why is he captain at centre and what does he bring to the team on the field?

Doueihi was'nt even running for the ball on final play, verdict is still out and currently 1/1 based upon 2 performances this year.

Brooks terrible kicking game into defenders legs all night, he is suppose to be demanding the ball and taking ownership of the team, consistently a fair player but when he is off he is terrible and does lose us games, should of replaced him with Walters tonight and left Grant on, that's called game management Madge.

Forwards can't fault the effort, Noffa and BJ good in patches.

Madge was livid however we saw that last year and same old thing this year losing to the bottom teams, have to **blame the coach for this effort** selecting the same team again would like some rotation even if they win the week prior on the bench and a loss within the team and bench.

Players are not hungry enough for full time professionals. Will find out if Madge gun shy in making team changes based upon what happened with Souths where he lost the dressing shed. Rate the coach but losing confidence in him each year that we run ninth, would let him run his contract out till next year but not renew it until we see some results.

Drop Jennings forever, Tommy T to centre, Mybe on the wing/fullback lose captaincy, make a team statement, we only need one captain.

Chee-kam, Reynolds on the bench at least, bench made little impact this week when we were struggling.

That's my 2 cents worth, if we don't make the 8 again it will most likely come down to losses like these again.

No argument from me there, but until he came along they were a bit of a mess. He’s completely changed their attitude and the way they play. They play with real purpose now.

Much easier to change how a roster performs when they have ability a players to implement what you want.

True, but the issue I have is that Maguire isn’t getting the best out of his players. We might not be better than Newcastle, but we’re a lot better than what we dished up last night.

Another heartbreaking loss from a game we should've won!.

You can blame Jennings, you can blame Douhei, but IMO the blame lays squarely with Madge for this loss.

Look at how Arthur has instilled mongrel in the Eels, they compete for EVERYTHING!, they scratch and claw their way to win EVERYTHING they are involved in!. They do not accept second best...That attitude is down to the Coach. They even bash each other up in opposing sessions. Our Boys are satisfied just to take the field and cross the stripe, they are content to just play They showed no urgency to get that short kickoff...reminded me of the 2011 semi final scrum play where we just froze!.. Our Coach swaps out our most competitive player in Thompson for Jennings, who is content to play in second gear. Our Coach swaps out our most mongrel bench player in Musgrove for pillow top Clark, he then promotes Seytharth who is clearly not ready for NRL; we then have Lawrence...our bench has NO impact, NO X factor....That is all down to the Coach....So Madge, its time you owned up and took a bullet for a loss...Our most competitive player is leaving, so what are our options for the wing...Oh well here comes 9th again!.

9th would be an achievement.

Yes, unless there is a consistent change for the better, we could well break the coming 9th hoodoo this season and end up much further down the ladder.

Maguire re-signed/extended Brooks, Twal, Mikaele. Aloiai, Chee-Kam, Lawrence, Liddel,Marshall, Garner as well as signing Jennings Leilua x2, Doueihi, Walters, Grant, Musgrove..

The only players in the 17 last night pre Madge were Nofoaluma, Mbye, Clark and Seafarth..

When does it actually become his team..

When you have players of lower ability it is not unusually to get them to perform well one week and then poorly the next, they put so much into the 1st performance that they can't repeat it the next.

I am a Madge fan, but today was a let down.

Both halves were way off and the 7 tackle sets we gave away were unforgivable.

Neither half had any control, and you could feel the loss coming as a result.

Conversely...Grant was best on park by a mile.

Would have loved Madge to hook a half...send Walters into 6 or 7 with a clear "this game belongs to Walters and Grant" to get us home message.

Would have taken enormous guts to do it, but the 6 and 7 were unforgivably bad today ending our sets.

Madge, or any previous coach for that matter, have never had the guts to drop Brooks to give the guy a wake up call. It drives me mad that he gets a free ride in first grade every week, playing in such a key position, when he has often played poorly and not been able to steer the team around the park or close out a game.

Now we have guys like Grant, Douehi and Walters on the books who can cover the halves, will Madge finally drop Brooks for a week or two to shake him up a bit? Probably not, he knows his place is secure, that’s why he doesn’t have to try hard every week. God I honestly think we would play better with even Reynolds and Benji paired in the halves!

No comparison - hence why Brown had to go and why they had no trouble finding a replacement.

Well let's see if he changes the team or not. Madge was clearly pissed off, he clearly wants a better standard, the question is does he change cattle to get that to happen. I think some players should be accountable for ordinary performances tonight.

Also however we have to realise we don't have a deep roster and this time around, more than ever, you can't simply reach down into reserves and grab match-fit players.

Titans coach dropped thier experienced players and it worked for them
Time to do the same before our seasons finished

Mbye was fullback last year and was so poor that Madge dropped him to the bench. Only a late injury saved him. He’s not an NRL fullback

He’s not really an NRL centre either, or half. Yet he’s an Origin player. Figure that out.

Who selected that weak as Bench ... who selects Jennings every week ... who selects a 1/2 that has no drive or any idea ! No the honeymoons over for the coach time to Perform !

? the side he picked is questionable

Had the exact game plan as last week and didn’t work what’s the point of Lawrence and Walters for the last 20.

Hahahahaha what? The game plan last week WORKED. We won last week or did you forget that? The boys dug deep and came away with a win, and Walters was massive off the bench. He had no reason to change the team.

That was last week

Watching that presser last night I have no confidence in what Maguire has to offer moving forward certainly no positivity portrayed no hard edge !
