Madge has to take the blame!

I don’t think he’s to blame for tonight, it’s hard to replace a winning team. He’s to blame for next week. If he trots out the same old, questions have to be asked.

I don’t expect to win next week but expect improvements in areas.

Great take, if he doesn’t make some changes after a shocking performance then it’s definitely on him. Can’t blame him for keeping a winning side that overcame diversity to win last week, they did the opposite this week

I'm a Madge fan. I believe in what he says and the vision he has for the club. But for whatever reason, that isn't being translated onto the field.

As others have mentioned we don't look like a cohesive unit. In either defense or attack. They look disjointed and doing anything other than running one out looks really uncomfortable for them. Leilua and Mbye haven't seen any clean ball or any space all season.

The bench was always going to let us down. But the selection of Jennings was particularly painful.

Another year, a new roster, a new coach, same old Tigers.

I think the straw just broke the camels back after watching his press conference.
Hope he goes for the jugular.

Haven't seen it yet. Did he blow a gasket?

Nope. Same old same lip service.
He should've flat come out and stated "some blokes will not be playing next week".

No point blowing up in the press conference and giving the media ammunition.
It's what he says to players behind closed doors that matters.

So a coach shouldn't give his players a massive spray for fear that the media will use it for their headlines?

Not publically.
We don't need any more "Tigers in turmoil" headlines.

They already made a headline out of his current press conference imagine if he properly blew up.

Madge has shown he’s not scared to rip in to the players, remember the bulldogs game last year? He was screaming at them in the change room

AD defence and positional play at fullback is terrible guys, he is great in attack though. Maybe AD should be five eight next year and we hunt a fullback
If we drop jennings who replaces him ... Thommo NO he is not who we need, talau god no not a winger Bradley no
i wouldmt make many changes perhaps the bench drop seyfarth and Lawrence
maybe put a hard head like Packer back in hell even eisenhuth tackles well
bench
Eisenhuth
Packer
Blore
can we get the Parra guy Stefano here early

Yep. Madge's response was perfect in my opinion. Didn't shy away from the bad performance but also didn't give the media anything they can use against us.

Do we need to take a look at the coaching staff too.

Andrew Webster, Brett Hodgson and Shane Millard.

I don't know who is running defense, but compare us to Manly and Parramatta and we're worlds apart. The right edge is still flimsy and leaks like a sieve. There's not much aggression and our scramble is garbage.

Attack is not looking any better. It looks like someone found the Taylor ball instructions at Concord and has dusted it off. Leilua hasn't been given any ball near the line at all. We have no set plays. All we do is run one out or a short ball to Garner or Lawrence.

Madge can keep coming out and saying the right things in the media. But he has to own his selections and the fact that we look like a park side who has never had everyone at training on the same night.

We don't look like a well coached side at all.

I think Doueihei proved tonight he's not a long term solution at fullback. He ran the ball back well, was caught out of position many times. And that 40/20 he just jogged over to. Didn't bother sprinting until the ball was just about out. I'd like to see him at 6, Mbye at 1 and Talau at Centre.

Agree

I can’t see douei any better than Mbye at full back I don’t know why Madge hasn’t given him a go there. Douei position with kicks are crap Mbye much better option.

Douei playing like should be in the front line.

Can’t blame Madge for this. He genuinely seems shocked and disappointed about this performance.

The players didn’t do what he asked and that’s on them, they didn’t even look like they wanted to win that’s not something he’s coachin.

Same can be said about Mary and Dean so what does that tell us?

Mary has been there for 6 years - Pay I feel for, his roster is one of the worst in the league.

We are a lot different to the dogs Josh. Our DNA since Sheens post 2-05 always has and always will produce results like tonite. think for us it’s more about the imbedded attitude and until that changes we will all continue to suffer. Bringing back Robbie and Benji ..paying crazy money for Grub, Packer etc didn’t fix it. Until the club decides what DNA is needed and does something about it nothing will change. If you want to see what a future DNA looks Like look no further than Harry Grant and then we will understand why Storm have been so successful. I think we should let go of the past at the end of 2020 but the commercial office may want to keep on to keep the corporate $ coming in .. no doubt it’s a hard act to balance especially in the current C-19 environment with every club’s survival dependent on a mixture of NRL grants and corporate sponsors. Luke? For me he doesn’t have it in his DNA to be a leader of this club..or any other club .. I see that Benji over rules him but to me his personality Is not to be a leader .. hate to say it but Moses has turned out to be opposite. In summary to fix our problem we need to get rid of the past this year and that includes people like Benji, Brooks , Lawrence, Cheekam etc . is Madge the answer ? In my experience ? Nope. In this day and age you need to have better people management and media skills than just looking cranky and saying we got to be better

You can’t just say Madge has to take the blame. It’s not all his fault. He has to take some blame, as do the 17 players, as do the squad, as do the coaching staff, admin staff, executive, board. The whole club needs a rebuild. Easy to say and it’s not a throw away line. All the evidence and data suggests it is needed. The club needs external people (not football people) to come in and go through the club person by person to figure out the deeply entrenched issues and begin to break them down and rebuild the club. It is a must. I’ve been saying this for a long time

Our forwards didn't play that well tonight. Only 1 player made over 100 metres, Aloiai. The rest were less than ordinary. That doesn't fair well for the the team's success.

I disagree. He brings the ball back well and seems relatively safe under the high ball, that is about all I have seen so far.

I attack the ball is so slow through his hands, there were a couple of occasions tonight where he would have created space if he could catch and pass in one motion. He was slow and went to ground with the ball.

His defensive position is downright terrible and is either slower than a wet week, or not putting in the effort to get to where he needs to be when chasing the ball.

Thought our major problems were at the front and back, as we got out enthused then owned in the middle and I was already conceding the winning try as soon as they looked to kick, knowing that Doueihi was nowhere near where he was about to be needed.

Madge needs to stop talking about things needing to change and actually change things. The captain with 19m contributes less than the cardboards cut-outs and the halfback goes AWOL and hides behind the goalposts when the game is on the line.
