Just listening to that. Agree completely.

Problem is I’m not confident he’s getting the say he should around player signings. Probably due to the mess Ivan created.

Yep, can't stand Kent but he's got this right. The irony is yesterday they were playing to celebrate the career of one of the toughest players you'd ever see and they showed none of the guts he showed week in and week out. In my opinion they are 5 imported players away from winning games on a regular basis and I can't see where they are going to come from.

Whilst I agree the players are not superstars, Madge can't attract the players we need, he has a really bad reputation, and that is a huge hurdle that we can't overcome, I still say sack him

That's just a garbage myth that gets recycled endlessly. He has a great reputation with players, and players who previously knew him from outside the Tigers have willingly re-joined him here. Adam D, Zane Musgrove are two off the top of my head, but there's more.

I am sorry but I could not disagree more, we have not been able to land one in demand player, or even one player with a couple of clubs chasing him since Madge arrived, it is no coincidence
Latrell, JAC, Burton, Arrow, Capewell, there are more, hell even DWZ

DWZ chose Dean Pay over Madge.

And that was it for me, the Madge is a good player repellant was no myth, it just got busted that day, his name is atop of the coaches players least wanted to play under

Who really cares if DWZ didn't come here? Would we be much better off with him here instead of Daine Laurie? I'd choose Laurie every day of the week.

I agree, but we tried to get DWZ and he rejected us.

He would have been happy to sign here, but Dogs offered more. Happens all the time, to every club.

Did they though? I can't recall anything suggesting they offered more (although happy to be proven wrong)

Chose $$ over Madge which was a terrible decision let’s remember the club 90 percent of the time have now refused to pay overs for players which should put us in good shape starting from next year one good thing the club are doing

Everyone said we'd be in good shape for this year. Now it's next year. Early next year we'll be talking about 2023.

Packer and mbye bro. $$$$

Unfortunately mbye contracted til 23 which will hurt us but packer money will help.

No point having a lot of money if we can't sign anyone.

We literally pissing packer money against a wall. I’m sure they’ll spend his money better next time around

Build around him, AD, Laurie and Simpkin and bring attacking football back to the tigers

Walker brothers are a myth

Haven't done much since 2015 .....very Tigers like actually

I like the idea and sound of the Walker Bros, but only once Madge's contract is finished.

That was pretty funny.

I'd say Twal, Liddle and Luciano also play with effort along with previously mentioned Laurie, Doueihi and Simpkin. Twal seems passive but he plays big minutes and doesn't make many errors. Would love to see him develop more fire. Don't see great effort from many others.

I'd say we lack players that really try to force the issue and change the game. We don't have anyone like that in defense. In the last 10 minutes against Gold coast they started to tackle with some urgency and aggression. It made a difference. I know Titans had gone conservative, but Tigers defense was still noticeable more intense.

There is only one coach that can do the job outside of Maguire and that’s Shane Flanagan.
The roster needs to be culled. No one will go any good changing coaches is pointless.

The team is B grade

I don’t know about the squad look how many players Payten has turned around, coaching definitely a factor.

Payten can coach but being honest they have way more talent than us Holmes, Taumololo, Drinkwater, Feldt, Molo, Fidow, Hess etc.

By far, the most interesting comment in the whole segment was the reply from PK to the idiot Rothfield's suggestion that WT couldn't attract Latrell despite offering him $250k more. In tearing Rothfield down, Kent made it clear that a significant slice of money paid by Souths to Mitchell was being paid outside the cap.

Souths Cares. Reality is star players aren’t playing for bottom clubs unless they are paid huge money. We should never have entertained this in the first place. Lack of footy nous on our executive.

My two cents
Madge won’t get the teams in the semis , next year either and I think his limitations as a head coach has truly been exposed. And I don’t think he is capable of landing big fish that the young guys need to develop (bulldogs seemingly recruiting much better and apparently in box seat to get Brandon smith and they will be ahead of tigers next year )

In saying that I would keep him to complete the job on junior pathways and regenerating the squad . I would sack him next year to have a new coach to try entice some big names.

I also feel people don’t seem to understand how the NRL has screwed the non performing clubs with this ridiculous 30 man squad idea . Madge is limited on who he can actually bring in, as can only use players in top 30 and if they are not performing in reggies , he can’t do squat .
If we had the old 2nd tier salary cap and main salary cap . Clubs would have more depth and have ability to bring any young person having a stand out year to see if worth giving a nrl contract

Maybe it should be a top 21 for each club and a reduced cap
The talent pool needs to be spread more evenly
Having a top 30 is the icing on the cake for the strong teams
Imagine if clubs only had $7,000,000 to spend on the top 21 players
Then you can have 35 reserves on minimum wage ( no 3rd party)
Reserves can play 1st grade but are minimum wage players only
Surly it would force the strong teams to release some of their talent pool to teams like our

We want 16 competitive teams
Not a top half and bottom half
That is the real problem with this Nrl Competition

Oh you mean the way the good clubs structure their roster...

PK: Get some blokes who can play first grade and win at first grade rather than just being known as NRL players.

Ouch

By far, the most interesting comment in the whole segment was the reply from PK to the idiot Rothfield's suggestion that WT couldn't attract Latrell despite offering him $250k more. In tearing Rothfield down, Kent made it clear that a significant slice of money paid by Souths to Mitchell was being paid outside the cap.

Noticed that. They’re normally very careful not to insinuate the big clubs are dodgy. It shocked me.
