Madge Maguire - Mega Thread

Never seen Madge so happy in a press conference... he liked that one. Gave a lot of our boys big wraps too really getting behind them like they've got behind him recently

Moving Adam was a masterstoke and bringing mbye in to 6.
I'll give him that.
Still not sold on the whole coaching package but the last few weeks have been great.
If he can fix our inconsistency, then he gets a tick from me.

There have been improvements, but I still have concerns about the bench rotations. It was going down the same path last night until injuries forced changes. I am not sure Amone & Blore were sighted prior to that.

Our defensive and attacking structures have clearly improved over the last month and a half. With a new spine and a lot of new young players things were always going to take time - still unsure if we will make the 8 but if we can keep playing like this we can go close.

Hard couple games coming up though, hopefully we can topple the eels as they're on a poor run lately because our run home is excellent. Dogs twice and a few other low ranked teams

I reckon they’ll fancy themselves against the Eels. Storm is the hump game, if they can get through that game with some credibility then freshen up with a bye for a run to the finals. Gosh? I think they’re going to sneak in.?

@twentyforty : great to see some positivity from yourself :+1 said:
Madge is really starting to motivate this team, get them firing.
It's noticeable the self confidence the whole **TEAM** has.
Our players have finally got the **MADGE** message.

Good morning @MAGPIES1963 , yes it is good to see the team coming together and it appears to be the older players who are showing leadership in this area. We saw Jet letting Kikau know he wasn’t happy about him coming in hard on Laurie. It’s these little telltale signs that are the big things imo.

Maguire needs to have a lot more faith in his full squad.

His uncertainty is costing us.

Its not good enough to hold back the bench because you are worried it might disrupt the defensive structure.

The bench isnt for injuries its for impact. All top teams use and trust their bench.

Blore and Amone will really come on in the back half of this season if given a chance.

I think we need to trust Madge's decisions, we don't know what is happening around the team at any one time?

I trust my own eyes. He is holding his bench too long.

No offence mate, but I think he has a better handle on than you or any of us.

Yes just like Warren Ryan did back in 89. coaches make mistakes.

No offence.

Ok the match was a runner way in the end ..BUT it certainly was in the balance as the defenders in the ruck area were tied and Maguires use of the bench leaves a lot to be desired ,this is going to cost the team in the end .

The TUFFNESS that Madge is renowned for building into his teams is starting to take shape.

Penrith were down on their best players, but we still muscled up and got in their faces.

We will win more than we loose if we keep that going.

Keep going Madge

Definitely agree with this - the change to more of a sliding defence is working wonders too - as long as the inside player continues to push across to cover inside runners/change of direction.

Amone had a VERY short stint and then sat on the bench sucking in seagulls. He was in so much distress I initially assumed he was injured but he wasnt, he was just massively gassed. All part of what Madge has to deal with with the bench

Amone is not even close to being fit enough to play FG.He certainly has ability but has a 1 litre fuel tank

Score flattered us, but for 65 minutes we were up by 6 against the panthers 2nd grade side.

Conceded 2 tries against a 12 man Warriors side.

There is some cool-aid being drunk and there will be a rude awakening.

All we can do is win, I wouldn't expect the other team to roll over, we haven't been in the top 8 for years, but we are building, and that's all we can ask?
