Sorry I have to disagree. He's been vastly better in the centres and the team has been considerably more fluid and balanced.

Having said that, playing Walters at 6 was clearly a mistake but I'm not sure there were many other options available.

As a young team we need as much stability as possible and keeping AD at centre, imho, was correct. Playing Walters at 6, not so much.

Madge has lost the plot

Who should have partnered Brooks today?

Laurie

Douehi to 1, Chee Kam to center

or Douehi 6...cheekam center

Dont know, dont care....but plenty here who watch closer than i do suggested walters shouldnt even be playing reggies

Grass is green, sky is blue and Walters is rubbish.

There were no good options with Mbye out.

There were heaps better ones than the one he come up with

Like what? There is no evidence of Jock Madden being an NRL level performer, and moving Doueihi out of the halves was the best thing we've done.

Doueihi should be 6, and not just when Mbye is out, he was our best player at 6, Roberts is not a winger, he should be right centre, bring in a winger from reggies, Cini, Cooper, hell give Fitzgibbon a run, leave players in their natural position

Cini and Cooper barely deserved being picked in Reggies let alone firsts. Not close to be first graders. Fitzy can’t catch a cold

Walters shouldn’t have been picked. That was clear from anyone who watched reggies but I can understand why Madge wanted disrupt the spine as little as possible

So as well as losing Mbye, we also lose our best fullback, and our best centre.

I agree with this. I think Douehi is a gun but I think the balance of the team is better with him at centre. Kevvie Junior was a debacle and hurt today’s result. I think he made one try saving tackle late in the game but it was gone by then anyway. I’m also starting to worry about Laurie at fullback. He’s been solid under the highball (with the exception of one drop today) but he often seems to be out of position defensively.

Supporting Madge as a coach (for WTs) and hating his selections are both sides of the same coin. The problem with not picking the right replacement player was on display tonight.
The standards we've been performing at took a nosedive because everything from our combinations and structures were off. The things that have been working for us were never going to be as effective with our team dynamics changing.

Felt Mikaele's presence was missed too, he and Utoikamanu have been great for getting the team on the front foot.
Liddle has shown signs he's been struggling to defend/attack for the full 80, pretty much since he's been back, so this clearly needs to be addressed as we can't seem to limit our errors enough as it is.
Our players simply needed to support each other but adding another inexperienced player into the mix, by bringing Walters in for Mbye, did nothing to help balance the scales.

Great post, and on Liddle, I have said this the last month, he has gone himself in the opposition red zone and lost the ball the last 3 games, twice today.
He is making some huge mistakes this last month, but yet he skates by criticism, if it was Simpkin he would have been bashed from pillar to post.

I forgive all bar the second loss when getting up to play the ball of his efforts today and there is always a poster sticking it up Liddle at every opportunity, plus plenty neg repping of posts that don't conform.

Which is fine if judging both consistently.

I could cop Simpkin getting dropped, but he had played 5 games and copped heaps, Liddle has played over 50 and somehow gets a free ride, not on my watch, he doesn't have 80 good minutes in him.
Sure Liddle has some great moments, but that shouldn't give him a free pass on his shockers, which are happening every week now.
And as for neg repping, I have never done this on a Liddle comment, and only ever twice in total

Maybe you got the wrong idea on my post, especially the neg repping as it wasn't targeted at you. Rather just noting that it seems excessive around Liddle and Simpkin in particular, with Doueihi comments not far behind.

Madge was at Lidcombe last week and seen what I saw a player that was way short on match fitness and completely out of form ...i was amazed to see him named .
I have never been a fan of the coach these types of brain fades only enhances this !

This was certainly a concern for me as well and if Madden isn't the future I am confused as to why we extended him earlier in the year.

Madge has overseen 7 straight losses to Parra, even the Bulldogs have beat Parra twice in that time.
This is an alarming stat, and only enhances my belief that Madge doesn’t learn from his mistakes, so how are the players supposed to

I’m not sure on madge one way or the other but he did select Walters to start. We’ve seen the result.

I think the only major error was playing Walters at 5/8 and you can see his reasoning for it in that Doueihi had been doing well at centre. However, this was a game where Doueihi should have been 5/8. He has a really good kicking game and is a strong runner and clever player. Walters was horrible. Even those who don't rate Doueihi at 5/8 should be able to see that he was the best option with Mbye out. I still Doueihi should be 5/8 and today he didn't get time or space because the inside players were a bit lost.

You can spin this whichever you want but what happened today is nothing more than what should have been expected.
Position for position the eels had us cooked before the game started.
And I’m not just talking about player skill set but that what’s more important in games than anything else …. Game managers, game drivers, enthusiasm in attack and aggression in defence. It’s just no contest between sides in top 6 sides on the ladder and sides like us …. Who are constantly striving to reach that level.
I should remind readers that it took sides like the eels quite a good deal of time to get to where they are today. There are no short solutions in getting out of the cellar …. just lots and lots of good coaching, management, luck and patience.

Most people on the forum could see before this game that Walters wasn't up to first-grade standard... why can’t the coach?

He does it all the time too? Ofahengaue in the second-row etc.

Please sack him now.

madge haters comming out of the closet after we lose a game........

really mate

Just my opinion champ.

You have no idea who is available, who is playing injured, what Madge is trying to achieve in the short or long term. Without any of that and a lot more your opinion is worthless.
