I don't like being negative...and this season has been draining.

But the 100% bottom line is Maguire should be sat down and given a choice.

You let us appoint modern, young, assistants and who can run a game plan. No old, out of touch, yes men.

You let someone else coach the D.

A panel of 3 picks the team. You are excluded from sticking with "your men" and the team is held accountable.

OR

You are gone.

Dreaming

you're happy for him to continue as is, without changing the status quo? you're happy with how he's travelling as head coach?

I've said it a 1000 times, I believe the players are at fault for not putting in.

The club appear to think that as well, by the looks? Otherwise he would be gone?

Make believe contract demands, is not going to happen.

That's such a cop out. There is only one reason he's still there TW, and that's because the incompetent board that offered him an extension would look foolish for sacking him now. He's done a terrible job and will be lucky to last the season (thank god)

Sorry, you know all this, how?

Because I have eyes

WOW, Ok.:eyes:

Watch the games, look at the structures in place. It's diabolical. Why does he use Tamou for only 25 minutes - if that's all he can do dont play him at all? Why are we so passive in defence? Why do we have zero flair in attack?

Funny, i don’t think attack is our problem. I feel that our attack has looked better in recent times since Brooks has found a bit more form. If we could tackle we would win some footy games. Defence has and continues to be our biggest issue

I think our attack is pretty dreadful. It's 5 hit ups and bomb. There's no structure, just occasional pieces of good play from individuals.

Fair enough. We all see different things I guess. Perhaps I’m seeing a little improvement in attack compared to earlier in the season and feeling more rosey than I should. I thought yesterday when we got in attacking areas we looked somewhat dangerous and most of the points weren’t from kicks but from going through hands. It’s all academic though because not being able to keep sides to under 12 points isn’t good enough and your not going to win many games.

Maybe he was lecturing them *because* they had already clocked off.

The amazing observation was the he seemed oblivious to his players' reaction to his rant. Tamou appeared to be irritated by him.

If you are getting paid 5 times the average wage to run 20 metres - and with the additional honour of captaining the club - you don't have the right to be 'irritated' by a premiership winning coach telling you to fire up.

Isn't that the issue, ranting rather than speaking with the players? There are far more effective means of delivery. I know others may not like this but look how Cleary delivers his pre-game and half time chats. He is sat down, almost laid back.

There is a picture of Brooks after the debacle on the Sunshine Coast in the dressing shed with Maguire in a rant. Brooks has his arms folded against his chest?

Uh oh we aren't doing body language analysis again are we?

Do we need to watch closely to see the bird being flipped?

Also is there any reason we can’t swap brooks to the right defensively ? I don’t understand why we have our best backline defender , defending on the safer edge .
If the edge is all at sea , we should stack it as best we can , sure it means a swap on attack and vise versa , but it’s worth a shot isn’t it ? He covers up so many other players bad defensive reads .

Chicken and egg for mine, as Brooks' defence makes it the safer edge. As well as being a left footer, so his kicking game is much better suited to the left.

I think all coaches have fired up, to try and spark there team? I think Bellamy is well known for it?

They are not going out to play marbles, they have an expectation to put their bodies on the line, of course you want them to have their blood up?

They are well paid to do this as well, but they are not delivering, he has obviously going another direction now to try to get the spark going.

TW, I admire your fight for the cause. The proof is in the results. Whatever Maguire does or does not do, he cannot get them to play for him.

Madge is the coach, the players play the game....
defense structures ,attack structures and gameplans are done on the training paddock and video sessions...

If the players havent got the heart, guts, determination or commitment to play and get the basics right such as tackling, supporting and keeping errors to a minimum, then its much easier to place the blame on the coach...Madge has his faults, but the players determine the outcome...they either are NRL level players or wannabees....

So we should be announcing in a press conference that players like Mbye actually had a great game, in the hopes that Brandon Smith might then decide he wants to come here?

Good players do not want to play with our squad.

To be fair why would any good player want to come and be lectured by a lunatic every week. You could see Everyone’s eyes glazing over.

Do you think Bellamy is not an angry ranting lunatic?

Nope. If you look at the shots in the dressing room he’s seated and talking normally 99% of the time. He blows up a couple of times a year when he needs to.

Bellamy has never had to deal with a squad like this. There is absolutely no evidence to support how he would or wouldn't react.

Madge can plainly see what he’s doing isn’t working. Why can’t he adapt?

That’s what that shoddy defensive structure was , an adaptation , that didn’t work .

For me , the issues in the team lie with 3 players . Mbye, Tamou , and Luciano. Luciano needs to be taken off the edge for his own sake . There’s no reason why we can’t play him at 13 , and have him run wider at times .

With this move , Mbye can find some confidence , or not . His voice appears lost i. The wilderness , and his defence is all at sea .
Tamou , just had fallen off a cliff . Seems like a great bloke , but the hit and drop to your knees style , just isn’t working in this current touch football game .
The guys having the most affect are guys who are running through the line and looking for offloads.
The rule changes have killed Tamou like players . Even Twal . Because he can’t pass , it basically means the defence can jam and compress when he runs it , basically killing any momentum.

Twal you can fix , as he’s still early 20s , Tamou , I dunno , it might be too late .

I know Tamou might bring something off the field but on field he's adding nothing. 27 minutes on the field yesterday, 3 runs for 15 metres. Game before vs Melbourne, 34 minutes, 3 runs for 26 metres.

Twal got manhandled yesterday.

Was on the fence and trusting that others could see Tamou bringing something that apart from possible leadership that I couldn't.

Though to be fair, those stats were during starts when we had a huge deficiency in possession.

He got crushed in his first hit up yesterday and it sort of set the tone for the game. I think the mind is willing but the body isn't up to it anymore. It's understandable, he's played a lot of footy in his life and he's not surrounded by a great pack anymore.

I'm not excusing yesterday ...but we had the ball for 8 tackles in the 1st 21 minutes v Melbourne

The forwards would have been absolutely stuffed from defending v Melbourne

Not like you to stick up for the team bro.
The place is a shambles Hap.
Massive changes needed and that's not an overreaction

No ...not sticking up for the side at all ...from memory it was like 80 odd tackles to 8 after 20 minutes .....our side is crap in a 50/50 situation ......the forwards would have been screaming for a breather ...any side in the NRL's forwards would have been screaming to get even a minutes break

That's where you sign guys that can take the heat off their forwards e.g. lockyer, cronk.
Or someone that can turn the game around, kick it into touch, give the pigs a rest. Even waste a challenge to get a break. We are seriously lacking in football smarts. Glad we signed such a great on field leader?

Cool - just sign Lockyer or Cronk, FIXED.

Like locker, cronk, Smith.
Wish it was that easy

**‘I need to find men’: Michael Maguire flags roster overhaul as Tigers lashed over ‘garbage’ loss**

A frustrated Wests Tigers coach Michael Maguire has lashed his team’s “garbage” performance as they sunk to a new low at their spiritual home.

The Tigers treated defence like it was optional as the Rabbitohs piled on seven tries in a 38-22 training run.

It came off the back of Maguire’s men conceding an embarrassing 66 points in their previous outing against the Storm.

It was a good thing there were no fans at the ground because the players would have been booed off at Leichhardt Oval for the second time this season.

A month to the day after they stunned the Panthers, Michael Maguire’s side folded as the Origin-in-waiting halves of Cody Walker and Adam Reynolds picked them apart with consummate ease.

Speaking after the match Maguire said they needed to fix their diabolic starts to games.

“For three weeks, our starts have been ordinary. We have to be accountable for that,” he said.

“It’s sad to say that our start looked like a training run for Souths. It’s very disappointing to see us start like that.

“I need to find men who are going to be accountable for what we’re doing. That’s not acceptable for where we’re going with the club.

“Our first half was garbage.”

Maguire, who said there was no repeat of the silent treatment he gave his side at halftime during the Storm hammering, said he would use the rest of the season to work out which players had a future at the Tigers.

“I’ll be definitely having a look at the team,” Maguire said.

“They’ve got a week now where they can go away from footy for a while.

“I want to find the ones that are ready to take Wests Tigers forward.”

“We’re very focused on where we want to get to. Seeing a performance like that is disappointing because the effort around the organisation is a strong club.

Maguire has challenged his players' manhood publicly (or even privately)and that is the end for him. Football aside, that is unacceptable and he should be asked to attend the CEO's office this morning. No wonder we're viewed in less than positive light.

Where is his accountability, he has failed miserably, why is it all on the players, he should be part of the cleanout not driving it, he had that chance and failed

That’s because he whould not have recruited or re-signed the the players Maguire has

Madge doesn't have many options

No one wants to come here

But he still has to have 30 players

**No other coach has succeeded in bringing stars here either**

So it begs the question. If it's not the coach then you have to look elsewhere, what is it? I have my own opinions on that which i know a lot of people don't agree with so i'd like to hear the solution.

Front office needs a clean out

The club will need to sort this out before memberships go on sale ..if your going to run with Maguire next year with only a couple of new signings I feel the memberships will be on a downward trend and you can not blame the members for that .
I am sure the club is aware of what might happen so it will be interesting over the next month .

They have few testicles between them, it is a statement of fact.

It is counterproductive to team building, cohesion and performance. And importantly, how do you believe other players outside the club will view WTs as a destination? Are we that naive to think word does not get around?

That’s because he whould not have recruited or re-signed the the players Maguire has

He has never been in a position to have to sign the type of players this club attracts.

Not so true he has recruited players that seem to be fairly average at other clubs who then improve under him and there systems. Maguire has brought in players to supposedly suit he’s coaching style and yet no improvement in individual performance or team performance. I whould like to see us improving to give some hope I’m just not seeing it

His recruitment has been within the constraints of an extremely buggered salary cap, with the Cleary era leaving a series of massively overpaid useless players on long term contracts, that is finally getting sorted out.

And yet club made big play for Latrell and JAC if no money why make the offer

Apologies, I thought it was the year before.

Madge has always been a defensively minded coach. The players in our squad have all been playing league most of their lives, some maybe yawnion. They would have been taught how to tackle from under 6s.
So it's not necessarily technique, it's structures and adaptation.
This is where Madge prides himself and this is the area where he is failing massively.

I think it's the culture of the club and how outsiders see us and how we've struggled as a club for so long

The players under many coaches over the years have failed

Its like a disease

Players that come here and even players that play can probably already see and even hear about us as a club and know there are no repercussions if you don't aim up or don't like the coach

You get to bludge and get away with it and still get paid and than get re signed

Madge and Hartigan are trying to fix that perception but it's not going t o happen overnight

It will take years

Sacking Madge no matter what we supporters think of him will turn years

It seems like it's a disease Players get when they come here

A perception of the club that players have b4 they even get here

BJ would probably kill it at the storm but is crap here

Its something that will take Madge and Hartigan years to fix

Sacking Madge now will probably turn years into decades as the players will have won again

Yea , I guess the chopping and changing would be too much . It’s just most teams base thier attack down thier left ,our right , so it stands to reason that strengthening that should be the priority.

But the first try , probably shows if people are going to make them wrong choices defensively , then the holes will appear wherever those bad defenders are .

It just makes no sense . I watched the left defend last night , and they just slid together multiple times and the attack sputtered out. Up and slide . Basic stuff . I don’t get why the right can’t do that .
The only thing I can think is the middles / Luciano are so bad defensively , that the edge just feels compelled to rush in to help him . If that’s the case swap him with someone with more agility , and move him inside . I might be totally wrong , and might be even further inside than that .

I agree with everything bar the selection via committee. If Madge is the one who is to get rissoled if we lose , he is the one who should be allowed to pick his team . It’s only fair .
