I just read sterlo saying Sheens is going to be Head of Football performance. Is that true or is it, as I read on here, pathways related?

No I think he gives advice in a broad range of subjects without being the ultimate boss of any of them.

Promote Gardiner with Sheens overseeing until end of year and maybe next year look at Adrian Lam from Wigan

why would we look at Lam? Wigan are hopeless at the moment. Gardiner, Ciraldo and Morris are the three I would initially look at. apart from that, you try and get Payten out of his contract at the Cowboys.


Man you guys think its hard to attract players now, sack Madge and replace with Lam, Ciraldo, Morris and see how they all flock to us.

Craig Fitzgibbon managed to sign the breakout player of the competition without coaching a single game of NRL, who's to say it can't happen with one of them?


umm.....because Cronulla have only missed the 8 once in 9 years and won a comp in that time?

Morris got them to finals twice in difficult circumstances. He was also popular with the playing group except for one or two players.

He was also coaching a team that had been in the 8 the year before.......Tigers on the other hand...

Don't have an issue with the different name for the KOE cup.team - but as an organisation it should all be under the one pyramid.

If you take panthers as the gold standard, im sure they haven't split their pathway across two seperate organisations

I don't know that, it was just a guess. If it is the case it may be that they are just paid from a seperate source that leaves them off the list. When managing schools I've had that in the past, didn't prevent us from operating as one organisation though.

I've also seen in government where this is no ii integration between departments, to everyone detriment.

I haven't been involved in professional sport, but if I was running it, I'd make the FG and KOE cup coachinh staff all 'one team' that is overseen by Madge.
And I'd make the KOE cup coach be a key assistant in the FG team.

Id also make the junior KOE cup coachning staff sit with the Jersey Flegg coaching staff, etc

If we are to become a development club, we need to think about the process of how younger players in KOE are developed and take the step up into FG. Also recognise that the 'step up' may be a 1 or 2 year process of going up and down in periods.

That should all be overseen by both the FG coach and KOE coach.

Hopefully already works like that?

I would think it does, I'm guessing they aren't technically Wests Tigers employees. In schools I have run, it wasn't unusual to have staff that were employed by the school while others were employed by the department and in rare situations employees that were employed by an outside organistion. While they wouldn't show up as school employees they were still part of the organistional structure and organisational chart.

I think he analyses players to sign,
Rather than analyses our signing attempts.

Although it may be helpful.

He's got a huge database on players from all levels.

Madge must see the writing on the wall.

He has put some great initiatives in place, particularly assistance with lower grade recruitment.

He will not be around to see the fruits of his labour if the start of 2022 is anything like this season. Our roster next season suggests wooden spoon by a long way...

Bottom line

The problem is bigger than the coach
Changing coach isn't going to change anything at the club.

There's no easy fix or one person to blame.
Blame sits on everyones shoulders.

If we want to turn things around, everyone at the club needs to take ownership and buy in.
Board, CEO, exec, coaches, players

I have questions on Madhes game plans and team selections. But I have questions of many if the players attitudes and efforts. I have questions of the CEO and the board regarding long-term strategy. I have questions of the chairman for being vocal and getting involved in contract negotiations.

Blaming and sacking madge is the lazy and easy option. It will make you feel good but ultimately not get us into a better position.

Madge needs more support in the coaching team. I want to see movement here. A john Morris, Sam Burgess, King Henry, Dean Pay.

We are now getting support in pathways.
And sheens is coming. Tick and tick.

I think with the COE close to finished, its time for Pascoe to step down and hand over to new CEO with stronger football club experience.

Let all the above do their thing before you kick out the coach.
