I'd go for Shane Flanagan. Players seem to like him. What we have ain't working.

No thank you

1. Sack Maguire

For who?

Separate issues. Maguire's sacking is not dependent upon a replacement.

ok so sack him and bring back jason taylor? mick potter? the sausage vendor out the front of LO?

Get a caretaker and go through a selection process, hopefully a bit more robust than with Maguire. PS he can take his rusted ons with him.

No we need a better plan than that, what if we go through the selection process and there is no one better?

Get a caretaker in now. The season is lost. Use the time left to rebuild confidence in the playing group.

Go through the recruitment process. Be far more rigorous than we were with Maguire.

i'm ready to part ways with Madge but don't really see a suitable replacement.

With Sheens in a floating capacity, the club has positioned itself well to select a less experienced coached. We have not had success with the experienced option.

If Sheens can provide support/cover for a new coach then maybe it would work better then with Potter/Taylor who were left to themselves and subject to Tigers management/politics. I would be more concerned with how do you know whether a young coach is really good other than the fact that they come from a good team which is probably better resourced, is coached by a great and has better players.

Can anyone suggest what Madge brings as a coach?

I have not seen any great development in any of the young players.

He does not seem to be a man manager. Has been very quick to cast aside players who do not align with his strategy. Mbye, Packer, BJ there is a large chunk of our salary cap contributing nothing. Other coaches would have been able to get something out of them.

Expects players to adapt to his strategy, rather than looking at the playing group and adapting his strategy.

Was very interesting to see his response to Simpkin & Cini errors and then the fact that neither can seem to get a run since. Not the way to treat developing players.

I think Brett Kimmorley and Ben Gardiner are better for the young guys.
If it wasn't for Covid/Lockdowns we would've seen these two with their hands on, person centred approach, building the lower grades straight to championship wins.

The other flops in the box need to go and better people put in the position. They exist and they're definitely out there... Madge just seems to stay loyal... to his assistant buddies and to his star players that he likes. I don't know if it's because he doesn't want high paid players on the sideline or if he's too scared to rock the boat and upset these divas. Either way you can for sure guarantee one thing....

The tough guy, hard task master garbage has been debunked. Myth busted. He's a soft touch.

I know there is a strong argument about not going down the rookie coach path and you need experienced coaches to embark on a rebuild.

On the other hand you have guys like Jason Ryles and Cameron Ciraldo who have been deputy dog in strong system for a reasonable amount of time, coupled with Sheens now on board you would think they could get the job done. Of course there are plenty of others like John Morris or even Josh Hannah.

Anyway something has to be done, we can’t keep going backwards and do nothing……and for the record I don’t want Flanagan anywhere near us in any capicity

I just don't believe a place that chews up coaches is the right gig for someone starting their career.

Remember the last few rookie coach to take over the reigns?

Trent Barret at Manly?
Payten at Warriors / NZ

Hard job to take if the right systems aren't in place...
Taking over somewhere like Melbourne would be a lot easier than taking over Tigers and other clubs.

Ground up game,
Long view.

Mate I know what your saying but with Sheens and Hartigan in the background with some smart assistant coaches might be worth a punt

What's the worst that can happen...

I'd like it. Preference Johnny Morris.

So we miss the finals for 4 years in a row? Because at the end of the day that is all it means. As long as the boys are able to go to Bali every thing is exactly the same

That depends on the individual, now the Wests group own the club the friction aspect between the two merger sides are gone that was always an issue .
