There has to be a circuit breaker something needs to change ! They can not be taken seriously if they roll into next season with Maguire .. for me the only way I would accept Maguire coaching next season is 2 proven assistants are employed other wise move on to a new coach that just might be the turning point,

Assist coach interesting comments re brooks

Summary?

Not much news really. Millard believes Brooks is our most consistent, noone plays or trains harder, believes in the jersey more than Brooksy. Brooks is very very competitive in Millards opinion. In Millards opinion if the team was going well Brooks would be in discussion for reps if Cleary is injured. Believes his strength is running, similar to Keary.

Honorable mentions for AD & Stef as other stand outs.

1. Sack Maguire

For who?

Separate issues. Maguire's sacking is not dependent upon a replacement.

As is often said, "better the devil you know".

To sack Maguire without a continuity plan, without some confidence of a replacement - that's mismanagement. One of your least sensible suggestions.

>I have not seen any great development in any of the young players.

Laurie, Stefano, Seyfarth, Tuki Simpkins, Harry Grant all came along well?

>He does not seem to be a man manager. Has been very quick to cast aside players who do not align with his strategy. Mbye, Packer, BJ there is a large chunk of our salary cap contributing nothing. Other coaches would have been able to get something out of them.

I will point out that Mbye was cast aside by Dogs and BJ by Raiders (and other clubs before that). Cleary managed to get about 12 good weeks out of Russ.

Was very interesting to see his response to Simpkin & Cini errors and then the fact that neither can seem to get a run since. Not the way to treat developing players.

Some folks would debate the opposite with you wrt other developing players like Tommy Talau, Jacob Liddle, Alex Seyfarth. Stefano gets a run most weeks; Tom Amone has been given several shots.

I think it's clear enough that Madge has differing opinions over the potential contributions of the varied developing players in our roster.

I also think your comments are overly simplistic. It may indeed be true that Madge isn't a good coach any more, but I don't think we can really judge that from the outside. What we can judge is: (a) the team is not getting better in 2021; (b) Maguire has an unacceptably low win and finals rate at Tigers.

The true debate is whether or not another coach can get better results. I've always maintained - I am fine to sack Madge if we can hire a theoretically equal or better credentialed coach. I don't see any such candidate available right now, they all have major risks attached to them. I'd cop Wayne Bennett, for example, if he really does leave Souths and not return to Brisbane.

Agree but no chance of that. Madge staked his career on 3 of his old mates who he could control..RF recent involvement in place of snoop is very telling..listen to his messages to RF in Season 2..don’t know if anyone watched the reggies coach interview but I liked his approach and dedication ..also seemed to pull a group of reggies together this year. Who had the reggies last year?

Will be shot down for this but that’s no surprise, in a team with a true leader like a Cam Smith , Brooks would be right up there.

Let me jump in front of your bullet: if Moses was there with him he'd be playing better too.

Multi national companies and Federal/State Department change CEOs and Directors routinely. Changing a football coach cannot be too difficult

And you conveniently forget we have Sheens and Hartigan to provide continuity.

I think the pressure is more on Arthur and Ricky than Madge. The squad these teams have had in the last 5 years, not to win a title, is damning. As much as the media harps on about Madge, he has inherited a nuffie squad with a few shining lights.
I've been of the opinion that it might be time to part with him, not because I hate him (I think he's a very good coach) but he doesn't seem to be able to get through to our special bunch.
I would only replace him with Bellamy or Bennett anyway and those 2 are not interested.
I think it's a top 8 finish next year or he gets hooked. He needs to surround himself with a bit better quality and he looks like he is doing so.
@cochise says we are heading in the right direction and I'll take his word for it.
Top 8 nxt year or pitchfork time..

Yesterday the Tigers looked lost in attack and shakey in defense but what’s new?

Madge is done.

Right now I would take Flanagan as coach only because when he coached Cronulla he had them defend very well. I don’t care about peptides, that’s history. I want a coach that can get the team to defend.

Some will say that he had a team of old heads, players that had loads of experience. Well he put them there over a number of years, he built that team. No-one can argue that they weren’t a good defensive unit.

I want a coach who can get a team to defend well. That’s all, is that too hard?

From your keyboard , but every word could have been from my own… Flanagan coaches strong, committed football teams that can get down and dirty and win however it needs to be done… players perform for him, he knows how to build a “team” out of players that compliment each other and his teams play what’s in front of them..the Cronulla grand final team took down Melbourne in their prime, even set a record for consecutive wins and they were good to watch. Tough and entertaining, but most importantly they used to fight to win, they were competitors, and in my estimation they were representative of the coaches own personality… Flanagan is smart and his a hard head, we need that at this club, he bought an identity to that Cronulla club and we need that desperately at the West’s tigers… he would be perfect, the right man at the exact right time….. cmon Justin “guns” Pascoe, bring Shane to Tiger Town!

He hasn't achieved anything without cheating.

Yeah, the OP said “however it needs to be done”

Trent Barret at Manly?
Payten at Warriors / NZ

Hard job to take if the right systems aren't in place...
Taking over somewhere like Melbourne would be a lot easier than taking over Tigers and other clubs.

Ground up game,
Long view.

You want more of Maguire? We're going backwards and it seems most of our fans are conned by the argument about who will replace him. It cannot get much worse but the WTs appear to be in a state of inertia.

Similar to @cochise said...

About had enough of him but can't see a suitable replacement without the coaching circle I've mentioned taking over which is unlikely.

I'd love to see Brett Kimmorley take the reigns and be successful... not sure if he's ready for it though.

Love to hear who you think could take over?

Agree with you mate but I'm coming around to the idea of 1 more year. I honestly don't know who we could get to replace him that wouldn't need another rebuild. If there was a coach out there that would suit, then I would be all for replacing him now
