Option 2) Back yourself, build a team, roll the dice. Challenge yourself. You’re up against it and everyone knows… yet, you’re up for it. You’re the man to lead a team out of the darkness and into success. It happens and it’s all thanks to you. A miracle worker. You’ll be remembered for ever. Massive praise for being to do something no one has been able to do for years.
Sword of Excalibur.

I’ll have what you’re having..

It isn't going to be easy.
Nothing is impossible though.

After all these dark years.... imagine.
A coach and his crew, lead us to success.
Showing the world, he's the best coach.

More chance of reversing the rotation of the Earth.. nothing is impossible..dream believe achieve

I believe it's not an easy fix but not as hard as you'd think.

- Nofo, either run straight or play for another team. Bite the bullet... he goes or he plays properly.

- centres. We need them. Recruit them. Lomax, Scott... hell, can we get Momkrovski back?

- a lock. Twals a prop. Missing McInness was a massive failure and cannot be forgiven.

- the right coach.

If we can get all this together, we're on the incline.

How about a backrower that can actually tackle as our one is no 1 in the league for try causes

Lucy has gone backwards at the speed of light since his brother joined us.Many people said that Lucys work ethic would run off on BJ and BJ would be a massive gain for us.Sadly the exact opposite has happened, BJs lacklustre attitude has rubbed off on Lucy negating the good things he was doing before and turned him into a liability.
There is still hope for Lucy next year as he is still young but he needs to stay away from BJ (football wise) and really listen to what he is told to do by his coaching staff and do it.

LL is a fine player but he is being misused. He is an impact forward from the interchange. Playing long minutes blunts his effectiveness. I asked the question yesterday how well does Maguire know his players?

Have you considered that LL himself wants to play long minutes and be the player we are building him to be. But I do agree that we would have more effectiveness with him in stints like Cleary started used Kikau last year. Had Garner still be fit we could be playing him less minutes. But what’s to say he won’t be better for the run?

In the heat of Qld, mixing things up as Cleary did with Kikau is smart.

I said last year. Penrith played a night game and they have a heap more depth than us after acquiring TPJ short term.
We only had Blore and Tulagi available from mid this year A lot different to having Capwell or Martin on the bench available to swap him out.

Really?

You answered it yourself. It was a sarcastic response but as you implied it really would change things up. And that’s what I meant. But I was joking as I wouldn’t want THAT sort of change.

Maguire has lost the sheds which means it’s even more critical he leaves in this day and age.

In the social media age, all the players from the different clubs talk to each other. Our players don’t like Madge, meaning when other players ask about him in the rare possibility we convince someone to join us, the players will tell them and potential deals could be scuppered.

He must go.

Gee..I hope the next guy fairs better with the dressing sheds...Sheens lost the sheds.. Potter lost the Sheds..Taylor never had the sheds... Voldamort burnt down the sheds.. starting to see a pattern here...new sheds..

I agree there is for sure cultural and complacency issues here thanks to being poor for so many years, but doesn't take away from the fact the playing group doesn't play for him, and he must leave imo.

I've heard some terrible things about Maguire's approaches to coaching in recent times which sways my opinion but it should be obvious to all that he has not and will never adapt to the modern game.

He's cooked. Done for. Finished.

The playing group aren’t playing as a team. It’s somebody’s else’s job to stop the try scorer improving the position as an example. It’s attitude and that’s all on the players

It's honestly conflicting as it feels quite similar to Jason Taylor's final months with us and I genuinely hope we don't completely mishandle the situation.
On one hand Madge is one of the only persons within the club that I see with any passion and motivation. Also, his vision for the club is easily perceivable. However, on the other hand there's just something terribly amiss and we look too impassive as a playing group.

It's crazy that we're even having these types of conversations again and there still appears to be little accountability from upper management.
The fact we're not in the position to consistently challenge the competition after a decade, I totally put down to them.
(I don't like saying it about our players) but the soft player mentality, poor player development, the coaches totally out of their depth, the recruitment officer's inability to lure prospective players and bad club perception is due to years of poor judgement and decision making... And a poor organisational culture.
It's a little sad as I still feel the same way I did 4 years ago, that we need to look no further at the whole structure of the club to see where all our problems arise.
For me it's them who've botched everything that is wrong with the club and it's the supporter base that bears the brunt of it.

One thing I will say is that is evident through some of his actions, is that he's clearly trying to compensate for the lack of positive leadership in the team. So the fact he's the only one currently copping it leads me to believe he is also trying to make up for poor governance leadership.

I’ve seen it number of times and not just with this footy club. Hang out a little longer until the boss is removed and we can go back to our slack ways. Well that’s not going to work this time. The Tigers are slowly but surely removing the dead wood and the bad influencers from the playing group. Madge is here to stay. The crap attitude of the players is what has to change and go.

I know for a fact that the vast majority of the playing group is off him.

So unless you think there's going to be astronomical roster turnover, he's a dead man walking because we will not succeed under him. Not to mention his coaching methods are completely outdated.

Players have a lot to answer for but I can't see him here beyond his current contract.

Key question for me is which players?
If Deouhi, Laurie, Ute, Blore, Tuilagi, Simpkins are off him well that's somethingzero but if they are still behind him (which i assume they are) then play on.

I don't know each of their thoughts on him player by player, but most of the squad want him out.

And your source for the players wanting him out is.??
Dont know who is telling crap..but apparently the young guys in our squad and there is quite a few who like Madge and have done well under his coaching...
so you dont know each players thoughts on him but most want him out...why do they tell you and not Pascoe ,Lee or the board if they dissaprove so much...

Don't need to reveal sources mate, just know the playing group want him gone.

Can choose to believe me or not, it's fine by me.

Don’t want your sources, I want the players names who want him gone.

My source is current NRL players.

Do you really think I'm going to reveal that on a public forum? Just know that a majority of them want him out. Can't sack 28 players, can sack one coach.

He's gone after 2022, if not earlier.

Not asking for your source or are you saying the majority of the players have personally told you they are unhappy with him?

I'm saying that a handful of current NRL players have personally told me that the Tigers playing group want Michael Maguire out.

That is all.

What they allegedly want and what will actually happen are two different things completely. So let's say your right, who do they want to coach them since they're so picky about their current plight?

Never said they were Tigers players that told me.

As I said before, it's the social media age; everyone talks.

Just unsure of how the situation can remain tenable with him coaching with this being the case.

So it’s not even Wests Tigers NRL players that are giving you the scoop, that’s just laughable. Wouldn’t happen to be disgruntled NRL players that didn’t get the retirement package they wanted to get here by any chance? It’s OK, no need to answer that one.

You can live in the illusion that it’s disgruntled players telling me this out of spite, that’s completely up to you. Almost every player talks to players from other clubs, that’s the way it is now.

The Tigers players told them this, I know this as fact. You actually think I want to hear this stuff? I’m as annoyed at the situation as anyone but it’s just the truth.

No we are saying if they have this mentality with the current coach..why would that change with a different coach and they feel disgruntled...

If the Coach goes ..they should also go.. be weeded out...Only you can reveal who they are..

Is this the same mentality the Souths' players had with Maguire when Richardson let him go?

Wouldn't know..I don't follow Souff's..

You don't have to follow Souths, it was in the press.

NRL players are also prone to talking a lot of crap. The hierarchy at WT have made it pretty clear that Madge is staying. So either the players get with the program or find another club to play at.

Madge needs to change his outlook with this lazy bunch , maybe turn up to training with chocolate cakes & lollies , these players do not have a go and don’t respond to him swearing at them . They should display white flags on the jersey

At least three more overpaid princesses leave the club in two weeks, there are others who could join them and they wouldnt be missed.
We need players with the right attitude at this club.

My belief is irrelevant. What you are stating may be true. It also might not be. It could be one player or 20 players.

It doesn't matter to me. They are first grade rugby league players and they aren't performing. Changing the coach will not suddenly turn them into superstars.

Lol it’s a coaches job to improve the individuals and then to make them work as a team. While he had a positive impact on youth, numerous players have completely faltered under him and in no way do we play as a team. No development in that aspect whatsoever

they will not develop if they don't want to, whatever the coach will say and/or how much he says it and if these players don't want to do it, it will never happen... like most have said it is all about attitude - it's not the coach

I don't believe it's attitude. It's a lack of talent.

maybe you're right but there are those that don't have the talent but have the attitude to persist and they got to where they want to be because of their attitude - as the saying goes (cliche) you can lead a horse to the water but you can't make them drink

I think it’s pretty easy next year, it will be madges 4th full year at the club with a roster entirely constructed by him. We are a win or two out of the eight this season (with probably 4 wins we should have made comfortably but lost). So next year it’s make the eight or don’t get a new contract. Very fair and very simple. Do now down to the press pressure after 8 rounds etc. that’s going to lead no where. One last year to make the eight or no new contract but we will back you all year. And there will be no dumb recruitment with sheens hartigan etc involved so the risk for another full year is very low.

The roster is no different next year. It’s 2 players from England. Every other club challenging for the 8 bar probably the cowboys have actually made significant signings to boost their chances, we haven’t.

Why go through another year of crap with the same coach and the same team. One thing has to change and it obviously won’t be the players because we need 4-5 changes and we can’t recruit anyone. Asking this fan group for patience is absolutely ridiculous. Especially when we’ve seen no improvement as a team only in individuals. We will get the spoon next year with Maguire, that I’m fairly confident in.

Could not agree more, and we run the risk of losing the only decent players we have if we do this again next year

I appreciate the info mate, and it makes perfect sense when you line up the performances of players and lack of signings, something has to change, and change now, and it can't be 10 players out
