Sheens lost the playing group.. Potter lost the playing Group ..Taylor never had the playing group.. Voldemort dogged the playing group.. Maguire lost the playing group..

I’m starting to sense a pattern here.. time for a new group..

Are they a playing group if they can’t play?

As a coach, once you sit there making excuses and those excuses are the players you have at your disposal the following year. There really is no coming back from that.

Yeah, not usually much value to his press conferences. He's no Robinson. But by comparison Des Hasler can barely speak in press conferences. I'm interested in them too but I wouldn't be making decisions based on them. Besides, Madge is fairly respected in media so you can't say he handles the media badly.

Madge has been fighting an uphill battle that every other coach has failed to fix year on year. I honestly believe that if someone with the mentality of Madge can’t fix us, no one can. He gives every ounce of energy he has to trying to make us better.

I honestly believe he needs some better assistants around him.

I wish the club would invest as much ammo into this area as it possibly can. Sheens will help tremendously, but we need the best defensive coaches, attacking coaches, kicking coaches to get involved and help Madge. That’s the big key in my opinion. I think he takes too much on on his own and needs to share the load more.

We need players who want to win at all costs. Look at Melbourne, look at Penrith. They’re teams that hate losing one game a season. I think by finding the best of the best assistants (whether they’re precious NRL coaches or not) with the same work ethic and vision as Madge is what’s needed to turn our fortunes around.

Maybe the mentality is too much.

It might be for loser players. Is Bellamy too tough for the Storm?

You know Bellamy isn't like that 24/7 right? He develops better relationships with his players.

The comparison between Bellamy and Maguire is laughable. Bellamy isn’t gruelling training sessions 24/7

I bet 90% of people on here have no idea what the training sessions are like under Bellamy or Maguire and or the relationships they have with players - so God knows why they refer to them.

He’s not going into these press conferences with much hope though is he. It’s either an ugly win or a demoralising loss he has to justify. Robbo goes in there to talk about a team full of rep stars that were missing 7 or 8 rep stars.

As for Shane Richardson backing Madge, that is laughable, he sacked him after 2 seasons of finishing 12th, Seibold got them to 3rd the very next year

Got them the premiership mate, Rabbits will never say a bad word about Madge. My BIL is a mad-keen Rabbits fan, Madgey gets a lifetime pass for him. Same with me and Matt Cecchin from the 2005 GF.

I have two brothers who are also mad Rabbits fans. They do not speak highly of Madge at all. Yes they acknowledge the 2014 premiership, but they believe players like Sam B and Inglis had the real influence on the team. Both think Madge had huge problems with his relationships with the players between 2015 - 2017. I personally have no idea, but this is coming from Souths supporters.

I'm sorry for your brothers but that's complete BS and belittles what the coach achieved. No matter what success or failure happened for Madge before and after his go at the Rabbits, he brought them their first premiership in 41 years, and prior to Madge they'd only made the finals once in the previous 21 years. 1 finals in 21 years, then Madge got them there 4 years running from the year he joined, with the premiership on the 3rd go.

For all the monotonous talk of Tigers not making the finals for the past decade, imagine supporting a club that doesn't make the finals for 15 years (we may get there yet) and wins 4 wooden spoons along the way.

So no, I agree, I cannot understand how any Rabbits fan can dismiss what Madge achieved, no matter the non-fairytale ending. It may even be argued that the Madge approach, which may have soured with players eventually, was what was required to take Rabbits to that next level.

It doesn't affect me one way or the other. I'm a Tigers supporter. Just saying that some Souths supporters see it differently to your brother in law. I guess like the debate on here that has been going on practically all year.

Lee rates our squad and says the football Dept is well resourced training in demountables and we're blaming the coach? There was the usual offseason optimism on here, as there will be next year, but this squad is not good. It's much better built to succeed in the future but Lee is mad if he thinks this team compares to any squad in the top 10.

That was a scary comment hey. If he thinks this roster was quality he shouldn’t be allowed back in the demountables.

Last one from me before everyone gets back to the sack Madge banter:

Modern rugby league is epitomised by what's about to happen: you have an old school well respected rugby league coach, all he's ever known is rugby league, about to be sacked by a know nothing corporate bigwig who loves the spotlight and the media and is only there cause he's got money.

Man I hate that, this is wrong.

lol, A mate who supports Penrith tried to use the we were missing 5 rep players argument when we beat them earlier in the year. I replied with we are missing 5 rep players every week and we don't complain.

The demountables are not an excuse lol, they are pretty good, temporary and an upgrade to what we had before.

I will say, Lee is the 1st person I would sack.

I bet Souths, Broncos, Penrith, Melbourne, roosters, gold coast, Canberra and every single other club were absolutely drooling at our setup. Maybe manly have it worse? Maybe. Not an excuse, but I think saying it's well resourced is an absolute joke.

You have seen what it will be next year?

And the demountable are 10 times better than what they had before, look rough on the outside but are good on the inside.

Next year looks good. Coach didn't have the benefit of next year this year.

I was trying to make it more palatable by thinking it’s just spin to not bag the players…but even then, the players should have the wind put up them and be put on notice. They aren’t up to scratch. I don’t think Lee would tolerate this employee attitude and culture at his practice so why does he at the club that he chairs and throws money away to?

No but the facilities were fine this year and an improvement on previous years
