Just want to know what amazing work Hartigan has carried out since he has been with the club?

Sweet nothing

How can you bag Hartigan, who’s been responsible for the pathways and identification of talent (Laurie, Stef etc) and then strongly defend Madge who has achieved nothing other than make a bad team much much worse?

And you know for sure Maguire had nothing at all to do with them?

I judge Madge on his coaching given he’s the coach.

So we should judge Madge on the coaching and Hartigan on recruitment?

We should judge Madge on his coaching and Hartigan on developing pathways and talent identification.

Fair enough, isn’t that going to be Sheens job? I just think Madge and Hartigan are both involved in recruitment so surely he gets some of the blame when we can’t recruit the right players

The Flegg side is where it is on the players Hartigan brought to the club, the most promising players in 1st grade, are players Hartigan has brought to the club. The salary cap is in good shape due to Hartigan.

So you’re not a fan of Hartigan hey Cochise?

Sheens job seems to be changing daily so I’m not sure on that. I think we’ve had trouble getting signings over the line but the identification has been good.

Yeah agreed

Exactly too many layers. Sheens, hartigan, committee, board, madge, no wonder talk is we slow to make decisions. Crap structure created by pascoe knows nothing about football. Madge and sheens all you need.

I wouldn't trust Sheens managing the cap, the cap wasn't true crash hot when he left.

Interesting few weeks and months ahead eh.

I hope we see some players move on.....
And a few new recruits on board.
Players and staff alike.

Feel like it's going to be a quiet off season.

General discussion board on here might be the most active ?

Mate, he is waiting for a job.

Pascoe has been sloppy in so many ways (ignoring appearance), and he seems like a hanger on fan rather than the CEO, he's who I'd drop. I agree that Hartigan has been really good. I don't think it's fair to drop Madge given salary cap and facilities and washed up big contract whiners.

Anyone got access to the SMH article on Madge & Elliot?

Wests Tigers are considering throwing a lifeline to Adam Elliott as the club prepares to make a call on embattled coach Michael Maguire in coming days.

The futures of Maguire and Elliott, both at a career crossroads for very different reasons, will become clearer this week. Elliott made a clean break with Canterbury, who were considering ripping up his contract with two years still remaining after his latest misdemeanour.

Instead, the parties came to an amicable parting, which will result in the backrower being paid his dues for the rest of the current financial league year and about $100,000 over the next two seasons. In return, the 26 year old will waive his right to take legal action against the Bulldogs.

Several clubs are likely considering making a play for the 26 year old now that he is a free agent, but none have the salary-cap space of the Tigers. The joint-venture outfit has more than a million to spend on players for 2022 and Maguire is said to be a fan of Elliott’s football.

However, the Tigers are in a holding pattern on the retention and recruitment front until Maguire’s future is resolved. The Kiwis mentor has two years remaining on his contract after a 13th placed finish, the low point coming in a 38-0 loss to the Bulldogs last weekend.

While there has been widespread speculation that Maguire is facing the axe, Tigers powerbrokers are mindful of the costs of paying him out and replacing him at a time when there isn’t a standout candidate for the position.

Captain James Tamou and fellow forward Luciano Leilua have come out in support of ‘Madge’ and those with knowledge of the situation have indicated he is now a strong chance of retaining his position.

Asked is sacking Maguire improves the club’s situation, Bulldogs supremo Phil Gould told the ‘Six Tackles with Gus’ podcast: “I don’t think so.

“I know Michael Maguire, I know how hard he works and how passionate he is about the job. Do I think their performances reflect his coaching ability? No, I don’t.

“We tend to point the finger at the coach rather than the players. I think their roster management has needed to be a lot better than it’s been.

“That started many years ago, Michael Maguire inherited an unenviable situation when he first went there …

“It all sours with what happened on the weekend, they got beaten 38-0 by the team running last. They did have a number of NRL players out … whilst it was a dismal performance, it’s not a reflection of the strength of their club at the moment.

“So it’s heightened all the talk around it.

“The pressure has built on the club and the coach.”

Tigers boss defends decision to re-sign Maguire as coach waits on review
Tigers chairman Lee Hagipantelis defended the club’s decision to extend Maguire’s tenure last December and said a decision on his future will be made once a club review is completed this week.

“My dealings with Michael Maguire and [Tigers CEO] Justin Pascoe … there’s never any indication they are going to change the coach,” Gould said.

“Even after the game on the weekend, I basically just checked in with Michael and Justin because it was a bad result for them. I didn’t sense any indication they were going to break ranks and change that.

“I’m not sensing they are looking for a change of coach, but sometimes media pressure can sometimes put pressure on people in the organisation to say ‘Hang on, maybe we need to rethink’.

“If their intention all along was to keep Michael Maguire, they really need to hold their ranks and march through this.”

He deserves major credit for the signings of Laurie, Stefano, Doueihi and co. however until we have sufficient leadership our plans are basically dead in the water.
It's probably the biggest requirement for the team right now.
Also don't think the lack of quality talent and depth can be denied.

I was talking to a club president with a few juniors in the Flegg side who said they can't get a return phone call from Hartigan. From the outside it appears he's doing a reasonable job but who know's, he seems to have a few detractors.

Yeah I am, he is crucial for the club moving forward but am not confident he will be here much longer.

I was talking to a club president with a few juniors in the Flegg side who said they can't get a return phone call from Hartigan. From the outside it appears he's doing a reasonable job but who know's, he seems to have a few detractors.

I have heard that, but it doesn't match with my experience so have to take it with a grain of salt.

Heard exactly the same thing from a player manager. Odd as our youth signings have been the only shining light.

Punt the chairman

I live how fitter has not been ripping into us this time round. Coincidence he stop since blues no 1 sponsor joined our board?

Mate, he is waiting for a job.

Never rated Fitler for coach but I’m sure he could snag a few players?
