Madge Maguire - Mega Thread

Just my thoughts on this
I like Madge, and I know what sacking a coach does, sets everything back....but even
with him recruiting players for his style and a specific type of way of playing, weve gone backwards for 3 years straight and the "footy" (if you could call it that) was the worst most
uninspiring, heartless effortless garbage Ive ever witnessed in nearly 50 years of watching
the game.
Id have little hope if hes retained, it surely couldnt get worse with a new coach.
Whatever they decide ill cross my fingers...itll probably be the wrong decision

Whatever the decision. If Madge stays his on notice. If a new coach prehaps Ciraldo joins, his not on notice so much being his first year but I’d say we would only offer a rookie 2 years. The players would most likely be on notice.
I hope but believe that the tide of mediocrity may be turning.

So it’s the assistants fault we went so bad this season .Player support was high imagine how we whould of played if support for Maguire
Was not high

Why wouldn't it be high - ***he picks the same losers every week***, They know their job is safe with madge.

Genuinely dont know where this trope comes from. IMO Madge has dropped benched more players and more high profile players than any of his predecessors, with probably less depth to select from.

Nofo, Talau, Kepaoa, Cini, Hoffman, Brooks, Mbye, Seyfarth, pretty much the entire pack except Tamou and maybe Twal have been dropped or benched.

Good to know chammas is ok, was worried, had been awhile without him writing about the tigers.

This to me is a really significant part of that article. If true, I am really happy with it. Madge will have no choice but to work closely with Sheens and a young coach will benefit from his experience and knowledge of the club.

This article makes me thing we are going to chance Cameron ciraldo as our coach

BUZZ reckons we are waiting on Ciraldo, he said this on NRL 360 tonight, I sure hope he is on the money

After reading the Chammas clip. I’m happy to hear that Sheens is getting closer to the action. What comes next though is two possible outcomes.
A strong Senior relationship in the coaching ranks with Madge happy to use Sheens to bounce ideas off and happy to have shared responsibility feeling more comfortable in his role.
OR
An awkward Gus / Griffin, Ivan scenario where by being a senior coach he is insistent on doing things his way and is likely feeling restrained by the club in his own role.

Perhaps it’s the clubs way of managing Madge out. They might know Madge won’t cop being overruled so by putting this structure in place with Sheens having the final say they’re leading Madge to pull the pin and get away with not having to pay him out.

Or at the very least, it’s an insurance policy as you have the structure ready to go for the decision to be made at any moment.

Be interesting to see with these new changes how much Madge really wants to continue in the job. I’d say his safe, for now, but the Ciraldo leaks and the more public statements regarding sheens position in the club would be ways to let Madge know he is not safe for long without identifiable progress.

I don’t think you guys have to worry.. heard today that Flanagan really wants the Parra Job and is biding his time..

Then again he would take the Wests Tigers job if offered but would have no problem dumping us Voldemort style should the Parra job become available…

Surely Wests Tigers couldn’t be that stupid twice could they..?

You do realise Madge and Sheens talk regularly have done so for 30 years. Sheens is not knifing Maguire for a position to cover the leadership.
That said he’s ruthless if he thinks Madge or anyone else is the problem they will end up gone.

No I have no idea who Madge or Sheens talk to and in what frequency, I don’t know either of them.

I never suggested Sheens is knifing Madge either. But you’d have to be naive to not realise that if you had total control over football decision making and your Boss then puts someone above you, then there was concerns over your ability to get the job done.

I agree with your comment on Sheens, or anybody for that matter, in making decisions for the betterment of the club. It should be no other way.

I don’t think it’s that as much as whether Madge would prefer to do it alone and thus leave the post if it gets too restricted or whether he will embrace the extra support from him.

He did mention in the Doco that he started his Career under sheens and saw him as a mentor back in the day.

I hope it's reinforcement and not an act of cowardice from management, as otherwise they've learned nothing.
