I had hoped Madge was going to be replaced with Ciraldo.

It needs to be said that despite the wave of media lies and rubbish and fan hysteria, that in this case the club management actually acted very professionally.

Hopefully it found many problems (because clearly there are many) but determined that the answer was not just sacking the head coach (again). I'd like to see:
- some of our long term failures dumped to reggies so they move on, or at least stop being anchors on the first grade squad; and
- a shake up of the assistant coaches.

The trouble with your first point, imo, was that the reserves didn’t really put there hand up to be picked over some of the FG players who were not having a go?

We only needed 2 effort games and we we’re probably in the finals.

Agreed. Unless the club can be guaranteed a better option at 7 in return Brooks highly unlikely to get moved on now, especially with AD our for a bit.

Granted the club hasn’t actually said anything, but they have let the journo’s run him down without any protection.

His stress levels must be through the roof, hopefully they have spoken to him privately with there thoughts otherwise he might just tell them to go to hell.

Well he can’t be thinking that he has done a wonderful job to date. Surely he can’t be thinking that he has improved the team.

Madge was here to fix the culture and weed out the bad eggs, unfortunately it looks like the bad eggs are going to win as everyone is too impatient to see it through

It’s not a lack of patience, I don’t think anyone could accuse WT fans of having no patience. It’s about his coaching ability. Our defence has progressively worsened each year since he arrived. That’s not the boards fault or Pascoes fault, that’s his fault.

You could extend him for 10 years and it wouldn’t make no difference. His coaching style doesn’t work anymore and he can’t adapt. He’s done.

Also, the comment about him coming on board to fix the culture and weed out the bad eggs is rubbish. That’s a recent narrative that was created to excuse his failures. He said he could make finals with the squad he had. Ironically I also think he’s managed to make the culture worse which is an achievement in itself.

Completely disagree, I think it’s 100% lack of patience. Everyone knows Madges style being a hard trainer and tough etc. similar to Bellamy. That’s what the club needed and still does need in my opinion. The only difference now is the problem players or bad eggs are pushing back because they are being challenged to improve and it’s making them uncomfortable. They would prefer to sack the coach and have a few more years leeway before any pressure is applied again.

Is that why they cant tackle? Or the same gaps open in defence with the same regularity every game?

Do you think Madge teaches them how to leave gaps and miss tackles at training?

He is obviously not teaching them not to.

Or they’re too stupid or talentless to learn.

Sack those Madge and don't waste time about it.

Will be interesting as to what happens over the next few months and who/what/how they drive required changes to get some faith for us fans.

Next year regardless who coached us they would’ve been a write off. The biggest issue is who for 2023 will be recruited as their as some gun players available and we can’t continue to miss out.

Best short term decision. If things stay the same this time next year the Club will be in much better position to change things.
Sheens will have 6-12 months to evaluate things and there is bound to be better coaching options than the bunch of nuffs that are being promoted now.
But the best thing is that the Club stayed strong and really shafted some of those Media worms. Enjoyed that!

Why is that obvious?

We’ve heard 2 things from the club:
- they were undertaking a review
- Madge is staying on as coach

From the media we’ve had 4 or 5 articles a day and talking heads putting their opinion in. All of which was speculation.

I just hope through the length of it and as part of the news of Sheens ringing around to player managers that the stigma regarding no one wanting to play under Madge has been sorted one way or another. Either they are going to play it long and slow or they are confident that there are players that are keen to join the club. Whichever direction it is I hope it’s been well thought out.

Fingers crossed we get at least a couple of the off contract or suggested off contract players to shore up our on field leadership next year.
