Sack another coach how dumb would that be

So your happy to put up with this every week

We've put up with it for 10 seasons. Sacking the coach has clearly not improved things.

I posted on the Forum the day Maguire had signed with WTs as a colleague still had close links to Souths and told me. What I didn't post was his reply when I asked him about what he would be like which I remember well - not the coach for WTs' style of football.

You have a good memory

He was correct.

What is the WT's style of football?

Not tackling? 5th tackle bombs with no pressure?

21 years and 3 times we finished in the top half of the comp. Need a new style.

I do remember we played a very attractive style. WTs may not have won every game but our players played like the Club, their teamates and supporters mattered. Fans of other clubs liked our attractive style.

How many times has that "style of football" worked in the last decade?

I'd much prefer it to what Maguire is producing.

Two sides of the same coin. Failure is OK, as long as it is entertaining?

You knew with Sheens and Cleary their teams would perform and were capable of defeating top teams on their day. Both coaches had/have the respect of their players and could motivate them. They were/are great player managers.

This team defeat in detail. Time to put it out of its misery.

This is the most damming part...

**In Maguire’s last 51 games in charge of a star-studded Rabbitohs side, his success rate was even worse (18 wins) than it is now at the Wests Tigers.**

Sacking the coach is not the answer, we are back to square one of rebuilding if we do it. You all want a quick fix and I know I will get shot down by saying this - "patience is the key" I can see some young ones that will be a star of the future - hopefully he can let them play after Round 10. I am in the same boat as you guys - I want to win too so please don't get me wrong. If only it was that easy.

Cmon, quoting some meaningless statistic in order to support such an important decision is RI -Dic- U -Lous!! If we were competitive but just getting beat buy playing attractive , committed football I could agree, but we look like a kids team.. they stand too flat, they don’t run onto the ball, they build no pressure , and they let an attacker run past them
With the ball and refuse to chase and just hope someone else will tackle them.. Mbye looks to offload every single time without ever putting a defender in two minds as to whether he will run the ball, same as Brooks who when he does run stops like he has been shot when a hand goes on him.. Brooks kicking game is diabolical, the attack is pathetic and chaotic and disorganised. They do not play as a team, appear to have no desire and put a lot of pressure on poor Daine Laurie who must be asking himself “ why did I come to this the Hellscape

In the end the results weren't there either. It cost Sheens his job, and Cleary still never achieved anything of note here before leaving for Penrith. Having the respect of the playing group means nothing if you're not winning 50% of your games.

The only "style" of footy I want to see is winning footy.

the West Ham Way ...didn't work for West Ham either

When they learnt to defend .....hey presto

Bennett is in his 70s and has adapted his coaching to the modern game. Bennett is also a man manager. Maguire is stuck in the past and from what we saw yesterday the players will not play for him. It's over, let's hope the Board act now.

I'm not making an argument for Madge to stay ...but we MUST get a better option before moving on Madge ...and whoever we sign must attract talent ...juniors alone (if we even have any quality ) won't get this done by themselves

I can handle losing but we must fight.

I personally think our roster isn't that bad...Maguire has just lost them

Our roster is worse than any team except the bulldogs. Some promising players but it’s 15/16 teams. Our roster is the problem it’s a bottom 4 team all day. Wayne Bennett or Trent Robinson may get us to 12th.

I don’t think our roster is that bad. Cleary did much better with less.

much less ??? didnt he have a intire cap to work with ?????
and most those players form didnt drop straight away mbye and packer werent always bad for us

Maybe so, but on paper that team wasn’t as good as this one. Cleary is a much much much better coach

Pffft has he won a premiership? He is not a better coach. I think Madge and Cleary are around the same level.

We need a Bellamy,Robinson to get this rabble off the ground.

Pascoe has to go to.

I actually don’t care that he’s won a premiership. It’s pretty obvious who’s the better coach.

Really? I recall us going pretty poorly with him in charge of both our team and recruitment. He's moved to a club with a boat load of amazing young stars. Meanwhile, here we are still suffering largely due to his long winded contracts. I'm not sure why some don't get just how bad a situation he created. That's not to say he's the cause of all our woes, but he's a massive piece of the crap puzzle that Madge has to piece back together.

If Maguire is sacked than Brooks should go with him. His eagerness to stay at the club and not show any hunger for growth shows a lack of confidence or desire. His comfortable chair should be pulled out from underneath him for his sake and ours.

Brooks is one of the best halfback in the game, only Cleary is obviously better. Brooks keeps engaging the line and when he goes to pass there is no one there, everyone is just watching and he has to run himself. Anyone that thinks replacing Brooks with anyone but Cleary has no idea about the game and is just looking for a scapegoat.

We have the worst fullback in the comp. One day he may be the best but he is not at the moment.

Our other backs have not worked out as planned, we all had hope that Tommy, AJ, JTJ and BJ would be a threatening back line but for varying reasons they haven't.

Our forwards have been poor, none of them are making good metres.

Average running meters per game (middle forwards)
Payne Haas 163
David Klemmer 160
James Fisher-Harris 141
Thomas Burgess 149
Josh Aloiai 147
Paul Vaughn 141
Josh Papalii 141

Zane Musgrove 106
Alex Twal 104
Joe Ofahengaue 103
James Tamou 78
Stefano Utoikamanu 76
Thomas Mikale 59
Source: https://www.nrl.com/stats

Brooks, AD, Simpkin and Liddle are not the problem, they are doing their jobs. Laurie and Stefano are doing as well as can be expected. Luch is great.

The others are not showing the effort required to compete in the NRL.

Does anyone actually know who's managing our defence? Seeing our wingers rush in to close down the space only to get outsmarted by a decent pass/kick/smile every week is depressing. We've got to stop this rushing in and laving opponents unmarked rubbish.

Whomever is our defensive coach must be sacked effective immediately.

Misleading
He did caretaker in 2012 and 2014 he was coach
2014 - took them to 10th after taking over from Stuart who got the spoon
2015th -12th
2016 which would be in line with madge tenure had them top 4 with salary cap debacle and they finished 14th
Then 2017 they made top 4

Whilst 2015 result went backwards they could see the improvements

whilst with madge the results are getting worse year on year (assuming this year remains at the level they are at ).

Whilst I don’t think sacking him for the sake of sacking him is the way to go , especially since he is building the pathways to the club ..... you have to ask has he shown he will improve the results of the first grade side , if he has lost this group of players what makes you think he will turn it around next year or year after and that is the question you need to answer .
Has he shown that he will improve the fortunes going forward which IMO is a No , which is unfortunate as you can see a plan in place with the young guys he has been recruiting

Brooks, AD, Simpkin and Liddle are not the problem, they are doing their jobs. Laurie and Stefano are doing as well as can be expected. Luch is great.

The others are not showing the effort required to compete in the NRL.

Good to see we have the ‘second best’ half in the competition to lead us around.
How’s that working out for us?
PS The bloke who played halfback against us yesterday doesn’t agree with you... or the one the week before.
