I will just drop this.
James Roberts in a recent interview says "he loves the Tigers and he loves the club".

It's a phrase I am hearing again and again when players mention the Tigers.
Whatever Madge is doing, he is doing this one thing right. The players he is keeping onside.
Even Mbye who was on the outer, is being managed well.

Maybe Madge isn't managing the bench rotation well. Maybe there are tweeks here and there. But if everyone is saying "we like playing at the Tigers", and we are training hard. Then we are building well.

We see how Parra has been torn apart by infighting. We want players to stay with the Tigers and build their careers here. We want people saying were a good club because that will attract talent.

How many years has it taken Brad Arthur at Parra, ? Building takes time. Madge is getting the culture right.

This is it right here. People speak about this in absolutes , as if they’re one in the same . The reason we didn’t get JAC was because he wanted fullback money , and we offered him guaranteed, top winger money , with fullback money incentives . The dogs just gave him the fullback money .
And then they signed Allan , Naden , Burton , had cotric , DWZ and Hoppa on the books , and just paid averillo a decent whack , as clubs were circling .
Not one of those is a world class fullback or dummy half . It’s not 1985 , where the team with the best centres goes a long way to winning .

Who’s to say Addo Carr wouldn’t have come if we were willing to pay him the $800 000 he wanted?

It’s not as simple as we missed player x because Madge is the coach.

It's entirely a question of cost. 800 on addo Carr vs 350 on maumalo is 450 you can't spend elsewhere. Is maumalo a good enough winger to play in a grand final winning side? Say, if he was in that Melbourne side, would he prevent them from winning a comp? I'd say of course not, which, effectively means that he's, at least, a good enough winger to play in a premiership level side.

Unless winger is an integral part of the game and an area where a marquee is needed, then 800+ is a waste there. So whilst it would be nice to read addo Carr's name on the team sheet, and he's the better of the two players, he is not the better investment.

You would pay almost 9% of your salary cap on a winger? That's spine money. Wing is one of the few positions where you can get quality players at good rates

we have our 2 wingers on what JAC would have received. Thats a much better play for the team.

Good post and I agree. With Mbye, I do think its being handled well and Mbye strikes me as an intelligent bloke. Im sure Mbye can see himself that he is massively overpaid and if he can get a deal that suits everyone, thats great, otherwise, he is getting picked weekly and he is putting in. Its exactly how it should be done.

Madge won't be going anywhere before the end of 2022 ...but if we miss the 8 then and has an injury free run ......he might want to keep one eye on his back

On a positive note...

Madge has been looking to strengthen our weaknesses (on the roster) since he got here.

I think we all forget.

He tried to sign Lomax, Latrell, JAC... offered them all the fullback position.
Tried to get Reece Walsh from Brisbane.
Finally landed Laurie - who is exactly what we needed.
A fullback.

He knows we need some backs and he's been asking questions and trying to get some through the door. Issako, DWZ and finally sealed the deal with Maumalo.

Knows we need centres - brought in Jet and BJ earlier on.. has met with Seb Kris and apparently moving towards Harley Smith Shields and hopefully a few more when some are available.

He's been trying to clear out the deadwood and that takes time but we'll see it take shape at the end of this season.

Building our pack very nicely....
Not sure why he had Twal at 13 and Offa at prop but it's back to how it should be and he's possibly got TPJ joining....

Not to mention the Junior recruitment which is looking outstanding and the KOE squad looking top 4.

Madge is here to re-build the club, in a re-build you move forward after moving backwards. Unfortunately we have gone backwards and have no signs of moving forward at all. He needs to go, its been three years which is plenty to show some positive signs…
